Beautiful cinematography and a rich story about love, heartbreak and the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, told on the foundation of traditional Chinese morals. There is factual basis of the events in the story, but the drama is lush.

This is a classic movie by Jet Li. The camera work is visually stunning. A decent story also.

I really enjoy martial arts films and I thought everything about this film was well done.

I think i could get lost in this film over and over again. Ancient China & Martial Arts~it’s a perfect sandwich of fun specially when Jet Lee is playing a brave fighter whose fighting the kings most dangerous enemies who are these 3 assassins who are so dangerous that only our hero jet Lee can hand these ambitions fools lol . The fighting style and the predictable over the top fictional fighting that goes in to making a movie like this does not surprise me. Because these type of films are entertaining.

A must have for any Jet Li fan and has a great cast as well.

Hero is a 2002 epic wuxia film directed by Zhang Yimou, who also directed House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower, in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Zhang is also the mastermind behind the extravagant opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The martial arts choreography in Hero has since influenced many of the action sequence in contemporary western action film making. I purchased this steelbook release on sale for $9.99 even I already own other released versions of this film. The only downside to this steelbook version is it only has the international release of the film (shorter version) and very limited special features. It would be perfect if it also contains the original Chinese release version (extended with more than 30 min.) and more extras about the film.

I love this movie, so when I saw it on Blue Ray having just purchased a new 60" Samsung TV I had to. See it on my new big TV. Man, it was impeesive! Plus I had a couple friends over, they thought it was great too! Its a worthy movie to enjoy and discuss the really impressive cinematography and the beauty and character development. See it and stay with it as it has a twist you will be schocked . I woukd give it 4.5 of 5.

Hero is the gold standard for eastern Asian cinema and top to bottom its superb. A fairly straightforward plot line that has interwoven story lines that really marked you care about each character involved. Couple that with excellent martial arts scenes (if not the best ever) along with an absolutely gorgeous visual experience make hero not only one of the greatest eastern cinema films ever, its one of the greatest films ever, period.

Paramount has the rights to Miramax catalog and it's great that they are releasing budget Blu-ray catalog movies. The unfortunate thing is that this release is still the American cut that was edited down from the original Chinese version. Nonetheless, this is still a great movie. The quality is good, not great. The Chinese language track is not DTS-HD MA (lossless) but the English dub is. There are some extras (that the other recent budget releases don't have) that are good.

The fight sequences in this movie (specifically the one between Donnie Yen and Jet Li) are some of the best I've seen. The slow motion shots combined with the panoramic visuals are amazing. The only thing I don't like about the movie is that some of the voice-overs really don't match the characters. The plot makes up for it though.

Classic Wuxia. Great acting, music and visuals. Very compelling story. Must for king fu/drama fans.

Another Steelbook that Best Buy doesn't label online but that doesn't take away anything from the film. The film is pure art and Quentin Tarantino was able to bring this film to the US so that's a plus even if he didn't direct.

This along with Fearless is probably one of Jet Li's best movies in my opinion. The story is well written and the visuals are beautiful. If you are a fan of Jet Li or foreign films in general, this is a must see.

Good movie to add to my collection. Bought during one of Best Buy's Holiday Sale promo so did not overpay. Not much to say about this genre of movies - lives up to expectations.

Jet Li and the crew sacrifices for the great China empire and the people. If you believe sacrifice for people, this is good movie for you to encourage.

A martial arts extravaganza!! Very well done. Great for those who love action and the martial arts. Astonishingly, the plot exceeded my expectations.
