Nine Inch Nails latest is a nice departure

Each new NIN release brings a new sonic flavor that is distinctively NIN! This album is a lot more thought out versus Year Zero which was also good but a bit rough in spots.

    Trent Reznor Came Back Haunted

Hesitation Marks is a great addition to any NIN fan's collection. It starts off strong with a haunting intro, then two of the more popular songs from the album- Copy of A and Came Back Haunted. This album has a handful of slow songs that I could see some NIN fans complaining about. What's important to remember is that Trent is married now, has children, and is no longer the angst-filled person he once was. The most surprising things about this album to me were his use of the word "lord" in the song Find My Way (remember the song Heresy?), and the song Everything (it's upbeat and... campy?). I feel like he was blatantly trying to shock his audience with this song. It's apparent in the lyrics that Trent has done a lot of changing and that he may be tempted to return to the person he once was. I can imagine him being content with his life, yet wishing for his past self to return. This album is better than The Slip in my opinion, but NIN fans who just want him to be his old self might be... Disappointed. The song Satellite sounds like it was supposed to be on the album Year Zero, which was one of my favorites. But, my absolute favorite song from the album is All Time Low. Something about Trent Reznor saying the word "baby" is just... perfect. Reznor remains, in my mind, the greatest musical artist of my generation.

This is Trent getting back to the early days, while taking lessons learned from other albums and his growth as an artist. Been on heavy rotation for me since I got it.

This is a very solid NIN album. It's a bit long and there is some filler, but overall, it's great to have this band back!
