Not a huge fan of this album; I like their earlier work 1,000 times better.

This new Sword album is really awful at being a "Sword" record. I love the Sword but they put out a meandering stinker with High Country. They are an excellent band but should have just gone 100% "Thin Lizzy" style on this record ( if that's what they wanted ) instead of being so non cohesive with tracks like Unicorn Farm. Unicorn Farm could have been something if they would have "fleshed it out." It just sits there sounding incomplete. It's like, "uh nice idea but where is the rest of it please?" I dig me some stoner rock every day be it super heavy or mellow, and High Country could have benefited greatly from some kind of direction and or a sense of "completion." As an "Album" it seems very halfway done and discombobulated. Most reviews beg the listeners to "give it time," or say "it will grow on you..". That to me simply means that this album is a huge disappointment but folks are trying to be nice. The Sword are a good bunch of fellows, but on High Country it sounds like they themselves are wondering if they even want to be a band anymore.
