This was a really great movie. I really enjoyed the way it made me feel watching it. It just made me feel happy, carefree and like a kid again. I actually assumed this was taken from a stage play. Where else do you see a basketball team (all male) break into a song on the Basketball court. (Think Grease). This movie makes us all think about the "clique stereotypes" we fall into, and how we need to think outside the "Stereo-box." The songs were wonderful! Reminded me of the music you hear for Sitcoms of the 80's and 90's. The kind of diddy's that stick in your head long after the show is over (I still have one of the songs going through my head, though I can't remember the name of the song.) Yet the storyline has a positive message. Sure the plot is a bit sloppy at times, and I kind of doubt that the school "Play stars" are the "villains" at many of today's high schools, but that may be what the movie makers were trying to show. Even sportos and band kids can get along. I also liked how "parents" to the most part, are left out of the storyline. Sure the father was the high school coach, but the silly drama teacher was funny, and likable. The main stars, the good looking basketball player, and the new female student "brain" were EXTREMELY likable, and you wanted to see them succeed. Great movie, for the entire family!

I'm not much of a musical movie fan, so I was in 4 a shock! It was so packed w/ witty humor, off-the-wall antics, & great moments, I almost wore my rewind button out. Yes, there was a lot of singing; but it was really good singing!

wih both this and the 2nd movie came out in the theater like the third did. High quality television entertainment that should've had a theatrical run! great disc!

A grandaughter loves this series and so being Disney and popular with her age group we purchased the series for Christmas gift.

Fully enjoyed the visit to the store... All the service people were knowledgeable and knew what products were available.

I'm a 40 year old adult and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie. And I'm not afraid to admit it that I"ve seen this over 6 times with and without my kids. I've taped the show and have had Korokee parties with my kids along with my friends kids. I'm still going to buy the DVD when it comes out, I'm so crazy about this movie. It brings back memories when we all went crazy over a similar movie, GREASE, when we were young. when I first saw the commercials, I knew that this movie was going to be an "extreme" hit and could not believe our luck that we didn't have to go to the theaters to see it. I was counting the days until premiere day. The dancing, the singing, the music, the storylines, the total package was such a joy to watch. I've also bought the sound track and as another customer has written, it brings a smile and a wonderful feeling when I hear the music.

Kids movies are known to be ideal. That's not the problem I have with this movie. The message of togetherness is lovely...and the soundtrack was very fun... however, the plot just gives kids high hopes which will just lead to disappointment. They took ideal to a whole new level, and I have a problem with this because I don't think the intention of this movie was to be enchanting/fantasy. I love DCOMs, but not the ones of the past two years. Think about it. A girl and a guy randomly meet on a cruise, they just happen to sing together, and just happen to be in the same class in the same school shortly after. They're exact opposites... a super popular jock and a quiet nerd... and they come together. They have time to go both to the jock's championship game (and win) and the nerdy girl's math/science (I forgot) meet (which she wins)... and they both land the part in the play. The coincidences are unbelievable. I mean one or two, okay, but everything relies on coincidences. I feel like they could have put the point across more subtley and in a more natural way. Nevertheless, it is a feel-good movie, and their intended audience was just average kids. Kids do love this movie mainly because of the soundtrack and dancing. It's different from most American movies. In most American movies, music is played in the background ,but here, it was made part of the story. The songs overshadow the plot. The plot is just generic and nothing special or different about it. The music, dance moves, and good-looking young stars made it popular. Now for kids, it's all about glamor. And the hype has destroyed any goodness in the movie. High School Musical merchandise EVERYWHERE in EVERY shape and form. It's purely commercial now. As a movie, it's okay, but your kids will like it, especially the girls. Too bad real high school is nothing like that, eh?

This movie may have have a semi-weak plot, but it keeps kids entertained for ages! I've watched my friends watch this a million times, over and over again, nonstop! It is literally hypnotizing; I'm still singing to these catchy songs, even though this movie was released over a year ago and High School Musical 2 is already here! Overall, this is a pretty good movie, and I would reccommend this to a friend; HSM rocks!

The music is awesome and the dance steps are so cool!! The movie is easy to relate to too! Everyone remembers feeling different in High School and making sure you stay in the right cliche while hiding who you really are and what you really like to do.

I liked it, my daughter loved it! Better still, best buy was the only store in my area who carries the original movie when everyone else only seemed to have High School Musical II.

This DVD is great for the little ones. The movie is totally wholesome and entertaining. Plus the musical numbers are catchy and fun.

What a great movie! I DEFINETLY reccomend this dvd, especially for this great price! Disney Channel has done a very fine job making this movie, and zac efron is amazing!!!!

My daughter watched this dvd at least 100 times. She even watches it while cleaning a room! I have to admit I watched it and really enjoyed it myself! Very entertaining.

My girls, ranging from 7-14 all enjoyed this movie. It had something for everyone. They sing the songs together and also try out some of the dance moves.

My 10 yr old son is in LOVE with this movie. He watches it over and over again. The music keeps him entertained as well as the storyline.

How can you go wrong with catchy songs. a great cast, problems that happen in real life, and to top it off, Zac Efron???!!!!??
