My first Hisense TV was purchased on black Friday 2017 as an experiment to see how long it would last and what I'd get for my screaming deal on BF. My family thought I was a genius for this purchase, price point, features (admittedly the 2017 had the cheap plastic stand-small boo) and we were all truly wowed at the vivid colors and crisp clarity the tv produced even at minimal adjustments from factory settings. We've loved it in our living room as the only set in the house. Fast forward, fall 2019, my Hunny wanted to watch movies in bed and football on Sunday mornings. We moved the 2017 Hisense into the bedroom and upgraded living room TV. Got an excellent deal on a LG 55um7300aue, We gave the LG a 3 week fair go, I could not dial in the colors and sharpness in a way that seemed on par with my 2017 Hisense. It bugged me so much after following suggestions and fine tuning the LG I still felt it was not up to par with a 2 year old Hisense's sets color quality and sharpness. Back to Best Buy to give Hisense a look, had to give this H9F series a try, put the LG in the dining room for a minute, but wanted to compare side by side. I was taking one of these sets back, drum roll.... OMG the 2019 H9F Hisense now has very cool looking sturdy metal legs for the stand which I love and are w/magnetic screws done!, super easy (my daughter and I set this up in less than 5 minutes-not particularly super tech females rocked it and had it plugged in and watching a program in less than 20 minutes from unpacking to watching!! So easy-I could of set up this TV alone (except for the size). We've had this TV for 48 hours and LOVE is a word I'd use for this TV's picture quality, straight outta the box it was far better than the LG. Once I utubed a tutorial on fine tuning the picture, VOILA! It's amazingly excellent, smart me saved 5 bills at least (if you bought a Sony or even ULED Samsung or LG). HISENSE you rock hard and we love it! If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor, just give it a try (you can always take it back-but you won't). I read that people think the remote is cheesy, okay -pair up your comcast remote in a blink and problem solved-we have lift off. I am not a tech geek or am I? I just like good quality products and a killer deal, it's not too much to ask, Hisense answered. Brand loyal!

But everything about this tv that isn’t directly related to the picture quality, is pretty bottom tier trash, Android tv, slow and glitchy, the remote feels cheap, there is not Apple TV support, the speakers are nothing to write home about. HDMI Arc is hit or miss, And if you bought this because it has 4 hdmi ports vs the 3 the competition has, don’t wall mount it, as the 4th hdmi port is useless if the tv is flush against the wall. but all of these pale in respect to the absolutely stunning picture quality, get a good Soundbar and plug in an Apple TV/Roku and never touch the actual android tv features and you’ll have the best looking screen this side of 1000 dollars.

I read and looked at several TV reviews before purchasing this TV and eco had great reviews. For the price of this you can’t go wrong the picture quality is amazing. It had everything I was looking for 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos. Also great for gaming. I’m very surprised with Hisense and the quality of this TV.

Ecstatic everytime I use it. The HDR and Dolby Vision is stunning on this set. The black levels are very impressive if you calibrate it correctly. I recommend a 4k Firestick, the CPU is not truly high end enough to run the built in Android TV fluidly at times. You can get by, but it chugs here and there. This TV is perfect if you have a game console. The remote is excellent, you can search stuff with your voice, it works well. The tv's design is excellent, thin bezels with a sleek metallic outline, which is rare for a TV in this price range.

I gave up on paying thousands of dollars on brands like Sony, Samsung and LG two years ago. I discovered Hisense, and since then I'm being very impressed how they give you the latest tech for smaller prices. This is my 2nd Hisense TV, and what an upgrade. I use it mostly for streaming (Netflix, Disney +), streaming my digital library (VUDU, Movies Anywhere) and gaming (PS4 Pro). The colors on the film's are outstanding, almost perfect. It almost rivals LG Oled Technology. That being said, whan I'm playing (Death Stranding, Hitman 2, Etc.) The games look gorgeous! This is a must for anyone looking for the latest tech (HDR 10+, Dolby Vision, Motion Sense, etc).

I have a Vizio P series, non HDR that was calibrated by Best Buy, I loved my TV, but I was looking for a new Tv with HDR/Dolby, after doing a LOT of research, being on a tight budget, couid not afford some of the expensive TV,s , decided upon the Hisense, after breaking it in and getting it calibrated by Best Buy, I have the Total Tech support, so it only cost me $50.00, the picture is very nice, deep blacks, nice shadow details and the colors really come alive. Blu Rays and 4K movies really come alive. I am very satisfied.

The Hisense H9F represents their premium TV that looks to punch above its weight when it comes to picture quality - offering quantum dots, full array local dimming, a premium smart tv experience and lots of other features. The H9F represents a premium experience from Hisense without the premium price with the 55” slideing under $600 MSRP. On paper seems like a huge value. Does the H9F live up to its promises? In a word - absolutely, but obviously there are always caveats. My 55” H9F came packaged securely. I was a bit concerned when I saw the back of the FedEx truck it came on, but luckily - it arrived without any problems, physically. I unpacked the TV, which is pretty easy for the 55” model (I also purchased the 65” which comes in a different style box). Specifically in the box you’ll find the stands at the top. These are made of metal and attach to the bottom of the TV with the screws included in the manual package. The manual package has a quick start guide and warranty guide in it, as well as the remote and batteries. Physical design of the TV may be a bit thicker than some other premium TVs. However, it's important to note that the panel is direct lit with FALD, so by default it will be thicker. The back is plastic, and panel bleeds into a layer offering a fairly thin bezel. The bottom of the TV is framed by a thin metallic look border with a Hisense logo. The feet are heavy and made of metal. They attach to the center area and spread a bit over half of the panel width, meaning they afford more placement flexibility than some wider stands. Overall, this design is classy and comes across premium. Unfortunately my TV didn’t work out of the box. I’m assuming this was simply bad luck, but the TV wouldn’t boot into Android TV or respond to normal remote operations. I also own a 65” version of this TV which worked perfectly out of the box. The TV booted up to the letter M in red on a white screen. This appears to be some service mode, and the Android TV capabilities were unavailable. I was able to find a service code that was typable on the remote (8087) which allowed me to get past to an orange M on a black screen (this seems to be the normal service mode). From there I was able to sign in to my Google account by hitting the apps button on the remote and signing into the Play store. Rebooting the TV presented the normal Android TV experience, so the issue was related to initial setup. I even did a factory reset after that to ensure normal setup. This worked without a hitch, following up by walking me through the setup experience I had on my 65”. Just FYI - if your TV doesn’t work out of the box, it’s probably just a few key presses away from fixed. Beyond this initial glitch, the experience was much better. Setup was straight forward, with an experience that’s pretty common if you’ve used Android TV before. If you haven’t, this TV provides a decent experience, but struggles with performance sometimes. Setup asks you to sign in, which you can use an Android phone or tablet to speed up the experience. Otherwise there are a few disclaimers and a feature called ACR or Advanced Content Recognition which promises to provide the best experience by analyzing what you’re watching. This may be a setting to disable if you’re concerned about privacy, but the TV makes it clear it’s both optional and anonymous. As far as apps go, Netflix, Google Play, Hulu, and Fandango all come out of the box. There is an absence of Amazon Prime Video, which should be addressed by a future update, as many Android TV devices will be getting Amazon Prime Video soon. There are only 8GB of storage out of the box, so you may find this limiting if you want to use the Play store for games. That said, the TV does sport a USB 3 port to expand storage. Android TV 8 (Oreo) comes installed out of the box, which is a shame considering Pie has been out for a year now, but this isn’t unheard of, with even other OEMs lagging. Focusing on initial non-tweaked picture, the experience is vivid. I own an older HDR set (2016) that does around 400 nits. This TV boasts up to 1000 nits and you can definitely tell it lives up to that boast. Even SDR content seems amazingly bright and vivid. Contrast is sublime, with the local dimming producing little to no blooming when viewed straight on. Colors pop - being potentially a bit oversaturated. I’m not certain I’ve had a TV that makes me feel like my eyes are the limiting factor when it comes to colors. Digging a bit deeper into how the H9F accomplishes this wonderful OOTB picture with its budget we need to look at some of its hallmark features. Specifically the Quantum dots and FALD. These two technologies aren’t new, or unique, but when combined offer a potent combination of beautiful color and deep contrast. Quantum dots are a thin layer of photo-emissive nanoparticle crystals that react to a blue backlight from LEDs on the TV. The Quantum dots help improve brightness and increase the color gamut of these displays. The FALD or Full Array Local Dimming basically divides up all the LEDs on the backlight into zones. These zones can individually turn on and off depending on the content being displayed. Credit screens with white on black can be inky black around the edges. The first generation of FALD tvs had some pretty big limitations due to relatively few zones and trouble blocking out light generated in a zone that needed to be black. This causes an effect called ‘blooming’, which is generally pretty obvious glow around the text or other bright objects in these high contrast scenarios. I found this very distracting on my first FALD tv, and disabled the backlight zones. The H9F however has 100 zones on the 55” model, while the 65” has 132. This offers much better control over blooming effects, and produces some amazing contrast. These two features also separate the H8F and the H9F, with the H8F lacking the dots, and about half of the FALD zones. Besides color, the H9F offers some great motion control as well. The native panel refresh rate is 120Hz and in combination with its excellent response time, can produce some visual artifacts. To combat this there are several motion options. The out of the box the clear option provides excellent motion handling while avoiding going overboard on the soap opera effect. Judder is minimized and animation is especially treated well. My son loves the Rescue Bots show, and the smoothness was a great experience along with the pop to the primary colors of the bots. The TV does offer a motion clearness setting which does black frame insertion. Essentially this strobes the backlight between frames inserting a ‘black’ frame to fool your brain into seeing smoother motion. It’s surprising successful, and great for games. It comes at the cost of absolute brightness, and it’s quite noticeable on this TV. However it may be just the thing if you plan on doing any gaming on this TV. Speaking of gaming, there are 4 HDMI ports, 1 composite, optical audio out, 3.5mm audio out. Each HDMI port support HDMI 2.0, so HDR is well supported from an Xbox 360 or PS4. Older Wii’s users will be disappointed at the lack of component video, but few if any modern devices even output this antiquated format. Unfortunately 120Hz is not achievable through these inputs even though the panel supports the refresh rate. Games like Forza Horizon are gorgeous with sunsets just soaking up that expanded color gamut - just be sure to set ‘Game’ as the picture mode, which disables all the extra processing and motion. The Android TV experience, like almost any OEM Android TV experience is laggy and less than ideal. I went all in on Android TV years ago, and after being disappointed with built in Android TV hardware, have invested in Nvidia Shields. While the H9F isn’t a slouch, it isn’t extremely performant as well. It’s a shame really, because the lagginess harms what overall is a really great smart tv experience. The app selection is pretty awesome, and has tons of games as well as streaming options. There are a few gaps, but most have been filled a while ago with only Amazon Video being the biggest miss. When it’s fast, the layout and presentation of content is top notch with live previews of media, and one of the best YouTube integrations available. Performance may improve with newer releases, but essentially it’s just shy of a great experience, which is a shame. Inside is the MT5886 with 4 A53 cores and 1.5GBs of RAM. This is a pretty low-end setup equivalent to between Amazon’s sub-$100 7 and 8” tablet’s internals. Sound from the built in speakers is actually pretty good. With the market trending towards thinner and thinner TVs over the past several years, sound has gotten worse and worse. Seeing a TV come to the table with decent audio is refreshing. If you’re placing in a bedroom or small viewing space, the built in speakers can actually provide a good experience for casual viewing. I haven’t set-up a soundbar with it yet, but the included HDMI CEC capabilities should be pretty solid for control. Overall, the H9F offers a highly premium viewing experience for much less than the competition. TVs are better than ever, and the H9F is a testament to this fact. Hisense specifically focusing on TV technology that enhances the viewing over thinner design is a winner in my book. The H9F feels like a $2000 TV when viewing content. It doesn’t quite beat out OLEDs, but it comes surprising close to the black levels found there. Color and picture quality is amazing, motion processing is really good, input selection is generous, brightness is retina searing, and they’ve chosen to go with a very premium and top notch smart platform. Not only does the H9F live up to its price, but also its promises - marred only by the lack of a better SoC for Android TV. If you’re looking for a solid TV, look no further - the H9F is so great either 55/65"

    Excellent display, so-so TV

The display is the main attraction for this set. Colors are vibrant and pop with the same vivid tones that you'd expect from an AMOLED panel. Blacks are deep and rich, the display can reach retina-burning levels of brightness, and motion is fluid and smooth. The display quality rivals sets that are sold for hundreds of dollars more. The TV was capable of producing excellent image quality for both 4K Blu-Rays and a PS4 Pro. Visually, this is an excellent option for gamers contemplating a high-end monitor, and the set handles PS4 graphics with zero lag or dips in image quality. The TV also provides some pretty impressive granular settings for everything from white balance to color temperature, accessible through the factory settings menu. Casual users might miss out on the full benefit of these fine-tune settings, but with so many TVs handling users settings for you, it's nice that one manufacturer lets users go absolutely crazy if they so choose. The TV also features optical audio connections, and ample HDMI ports. But... with so many good things to say about the TV image quality, you might wonder why I said it was a "so-so TV." I'm referring to two things: the build quality and the software. The TV has plastic chassis, which is expected for the low price point, but the body pieces housing the main circuitboards feel alarmingly flimsy, and they get uncomfortably hot to the touch after several hours. Perhaps I've been spoiled by an aluminum frame on my old 4K TV, but the plastic used here just seems a little on the cheap side. If readers think back to the hulking polycarbonate bodies of early full-HD HDTVs, you know that plastic shells, when manufactured well, are more than sufficient to withstand wear and tear. The Hisense H9F is reasonably sturdy, but there's too much give for my taste. One other issue with the physical design is the bezels. They're nice and thin, but the material that makes up the silver-painted border actually seems to be loosely glued in spots that raises real doubts about long-term durability, particularly if you have pets. The second big issue with this set is the software implementation. Android TV is pretty good, as far as software interfaces go, and offers a much larger selection of media (and game) apps than competing platforms do. However, the Android software on this set just seems to be a bit janky. I tested the built-in software with a Shield TV also running the latest Android TV software, and the difference was unmistakable. The software is certainly functional, but apps take a few seconds longer to open, and menus stutter occasionally. This really isn't a deal breaker, since most Android-equipped TVs are considerably more expensive, but this Hisense set certainly isn't the best representation of the Android TV interface. Perhaps the set needed a faster processor or more RAM. In short, if what you're looking for is the best display for the cheapest price, then this will make a great TV. If you want something that you can be more confident will last for the next five years, you might want to buy a set with different materials used in the design. Provided you take care of the TV, and are mindful of some of the structural issues, you won't be disappointed. And if the Android TV interface annoys you, just hook up a streaking puck. One last thing... the TV speakers are perfectly fine to my ears. Loud, clear, and articulate. Bass is a bit shoddy, but audiophiles will probably want a home theater sound system anyway.

I've been waiting for best buy to restock the 55 inch model and it was worth the wait. Ordered the tv on the 11th and best buy had it ready for pick up early on the 14th. This tv has blown me away. It honestly had me perplexed as I spent 1200 dollars on a samsung q6fn and this tv is simply better. The black levels are amazing and the the colors are vibrant and bright. If you are on the fence don't wait grab it while you can. Make sure you get the warranty through geek squad just incase.

Bought my 55H9F from BBUY about a week and a half ago. First I need to say its beautiful, has deep blacks and intense colors, has a vast set of calibration options, great smart tv interface and looks premium for such a good price. I feel like once the TV update came in it does the following (only unplugging fixes these unless otherwise noted): -wont quickly respond to remote commands even to turn on. Tonight it took 2 mins to boot up. Tried with stock remote, harmony, and amazon remotes none worked had to pull plug to reset it to working -UI randomly slows down freezes -color calibration settings appear to be off when i turn it on. I figured out i can only have it goto my calibration when i go back to then menu, open color calibration, open a color memu, then randomly everything goes back to my calibration Seemed to get stuck in hdr mode when I swapped to a dolby digital device. I had to turn off and on the tv to get it to recognize the hdr to dolby switch -arc sometimes works well sometimes does not in outputting sound to brand new LG SL10YG -casting to the tv directly sometimes no sound comes out of arc to soundbar, same for playing videos off the apps on the homescreen I am starting to feel like its not worth waiting for a hopeful or possible firmware fix instead of just returning it. My fear is it just tanks once the warranty is out. I may return it for a swapped unit but someone else in the answers section said they are having freeze issues to so it seems not localized to me. This is a beautiful TV for the price so it is unfortunate. I have had LG's for years before up to date with never an issue. I switched to this because my other tv a newer LG SK9000 has bad local dimming blooming issues.

Got 55 inch H9F from Bestbuy for 599. Built quality is like any other TV. Remote is pretty ordinary. We mostly watch sling international TV through Roku stick. I had a Samsung before that. I bought the Samsung TV about ten years ago and never made any adjustments to the default settings. Still the picture quality was excellent. On H9F so far I have not made any changes to the default settings and the picture quality is definitely much inferior to my old samsung. I am not sure- may be it needs some adjustment. Picture quality is much better when I watch movies or shows on Netflix or prime. But still the screen looks very pixelated and not smooth when I view from very close to the TV. This was never the case with my old TV. Sound quality is not bad - I will say much stronger than Samsung.

The picture is outstanding. Extremely bright and colorful (if you want). If that's all this review were about, it would be 5-stars all the way. But the OS is weird. It will automatically turn itself on randomly, and it does so multiple times a week. I'll often wake up and go into the room with the TV and find that it had been on for hours. And it generates some heat while on. The weird behavior of the TV is enough to detract 2 stars. Not sure if they fixed any of this with the H9G line but I'll think twice about going with Hisense for my next TV even with such an outstanding display.

Hisense has really hit the price/features/looks/performance mix out of the park with 2019's H9F series of TVs. It checks nearly all the boxes in regards to desirable features for a 4K HDR TV, and should be at the top of the list for anyone looking for great picture quality in this price range. The first striking feature of this set when you take it from the packaging is the design. It features a near bezel-less design, which looks incredibly premium, and has the screen elevated above the frame of the set. It's an interesting choice, and has durability implications; the set is quite fragile, as evidenced by my first order which showed up damaged, and their instructions explicitly state not to life by the screen when removing from the package. It's a tradeoff for a subjectively stunning design that's worth it. Assembly was pretty straight forward, requiring you to screw in the two support legs (assuming you're not mounting this on the wall, of course). Propping the set up on the styrofoam that came in the packaging made this is a breeze, also made simple by the set's light weight. After getting it assembled, setup was relatively simple with this unit, which runs the latest version of Android TV. This is a great option for anyone that has an Android phone, as you can add your Google account directly to the TV and also cast directly from your phone with ease. I can't speak to the experience for those using an iPhone, but I'm sure it's fine. The TV was hooked up, connected to the internet, and ready to serve up content within 3 minutes. Android TV ships with a pretty decent selection of apps, all with 4K HDR compatibility, which is great for anyone that doesn't already have a 4K capable streaming device and wants to jump right in to high quality streaming. Overall, it feels a bit lacking when compared to something like a Roku, however, and is missing key apps available elsewhere (Apple related services, ATT Now, etc). There are some games available here, though I didn't test any out as it seems a bit pointless, but it's nice to have the option none the less. Overall, the interface will be familiar to anyone in the Android echosystem, and I have no complaints with Hisense choosing this as their platform. After applying some base calibration settings, I fired up some varying content, from 720p through 4K HDR. Overall, the TV knocked it out of the park, with one notable exception I'll discuss in a minute. This is a TRUE HDR set; it gets incredibly bright and is able to throw out a full dynamic contrast range, which isn't always the case with TVs in this price bracket. Colors are exceptional as well, with deep, rich saturation, especially in HDR content, which is incredibly pleasing to the eyes. This feels like a true upgrade from my existing top tier 7 year old Panasonic Plasma in all ways except one; video quality in dark scenes. Being that this uses a full array local dimming lighting scheme and the Hisense gets deep black in most scenarios (especially in scenes with stark bright and dark contrast), when the scene is totally dark, things start to get a bit hairy. In certain scenarios, the backlights need to stay on to illuminate a small part of the dark scene, meaning the contrast ratio really takes a hit. Blacks look more grey, and worse, you start to see delays in the backlight zones turning on and off. It's visually distracting, but honestly, not unique to this set. It's a tradeoff with LCD technology that you simply have to accept. The motion handling of this set is really impressive. When properly calibrated and setup, all manner of content from sports to movies to games all render with the proper cadence (which is incredibly important to me coming from a plasma TV that was amongst the best with motion handling). This set is surprisingly great for gaming. Input lag is unexpectedly not an issue at all when set to game mode, making for a great option for anyone intending to use this set for gaming when considering the great picture quality in conjunction with the low input lag. I've had a few quirky issues with my set that have detracted a bit from the overall experience. The first is that ARC doesn't seem to work reliably when streaming from an onboard Android TV app. Initially, the ARC option wasn't available until I enabled the "Control over HDMI" option. After enabling ARC, I've seen consistent issues where the sound would alternate between coming from the hooked up soundbar and the onboard TV speakers. Additionally, when viewing high quality 4K HDR content from an Android TV app, I was seeing pretty severe screen tearing until I completely disabled all motion control related settings. I didn't investigate further, but I'm confident this shouldn't happen. Both issues are annoying to deal with, but could potentially be fixed in the future via software updates. Here's to hoping... This TV has been a joy to use, aside from the minor issues outlined above. The picture quality makes this a very good viewing experience, and the style and extras make this a real home run.

This TV was recommended by Best Buy staff, and overall it seems like the right choice for viewing and gaming. The picture is crisp, and the colors look great; however, there are minor issues. I have sound running from the TV to a sound bar through optical, and it cuts out the initial few miliseconds of sound for most devices. Also, the TV randomly glitches out on my PS4, where sound doesn't work at all and if you look closely individual pixels geek out. This is my first Hisense TV, and it seems like the technology is top notch, just maybe not their quality control.

After over 20 years of purchasing top of the line Sony, and paying the price for quality. The last Bravia 55" I purchased is still working great, was just ready to step up to something newer. Browsing through stor looking at different brands and models, I kept coming back to the Hisense. I originally purchased an H* series, got it home, hated it !! Went online and read reviews from electronics evaluators, packed up H* and returned swapping for excellent H9F. Out of the box, a few settings adjustments, and it is amazing for the price. I already bought one for my son as a house warming gift. While in store purchasing new laptop, saw a Hisense playing behind cashier. walked up and it is newest model only 75" for not much more than I paid for 55". I think it will be from me to me for X Mas !!!
