I've been using this TV for about a month after a somewhat unexpected purchase after my last TV stopped working. It's a great value overall. I use this primary for gaming and the step up to 120fps has made a huge difference. Wish I made the upgrade years ago. The TV also gets very bright for better or worse. My only real complaint is that the colors don't appear to be quite as vibrant as the TCL I was comparing against. This is still a great TV for competitive gaming. If I didn't like I would have returned it.

This is a solid TV, really good picture, decent audio and is powered by Google TV. The remote is also decent, but there are much better options and I’d recommend just getting a small Bluetooth Google TV remote. The only major issue I have is that there is a memory leak in the OS stack and it will progressively slow down until it becomes unusable and will need to be rebooted. The TV is also a privacy nightmare sending 100k+ tracking events per day. Both of these issues can be fixed with a software update.

The Good Reviews Are For 65" or Bigger Models Only

Before buying my new TV (LG B5 OLED) recently I did a lot of research on TV's and I kept coming across good reviews for the Hisense U8N saying it was a good value for your money. The reviews mentioned good color, black levels and local dimming zones that help with contrast and blooming. So I ended up buying the 55" U8N and was very disappointed with the TV. My TV had poor black levels and really bad blooming even with all the correct settings. No matter what I did I couldn't improve the black levels, contrast or blooming which made for a very poor picture that looked washed out with no color. When I couldn't adjust the TV to my liking I went back and read the reviews again and I missed that they (rtings.com) excluded the 55" version from their reviews because it has a different type of panel compared to the 65" and bigger model. Also the 55" and smaller has much less dimming zones to handle black levels and blooming correctly. I will say the speakers on this TV (5 with one being a "subwoofer") sounded better than any TV I've ever heard through just the OEM TV speakers.

I spent several months reading online and Customer reviews of the U8 tv before buying during a recent sale. Wanted to see an in-store display but only the larger screen was available without any live-feed pictures. Also compared the U8 to the lower priced U7 before deciding to get the top of the line Hisense Mini LED. Set up was easy except the download of the latest Google TV software was a bit lengthy. Did a lot of reviews prior to delivery of my tv relative to picture settings to maximize the picture quality of the U8. Menu for adjusting was well presented and easy to follow using the remote. Remote function is great and a quality product compared to my other remotes such as Roku. My first experience with Google TV interface has been an easy one to adjust to since I also use YouTube TV. I am using a Sonos sound bar that easily interfaced with the TV. In conclusion, I am well pleased with the U8 and concur that it is one of the top TVs for the price paid. Sports programming is much improved as well as overall picture quality for local news programs. Have watched limited movies being streamed and have noticed big improvements even though I am not paying for UHD from my Netflix account.

Overall this is an amazing TV for the cost! I have been using a fire stick for years and now no longer need that thanks to this TV. The display is so beautiful and crisp. The customization possible with what you are viewing is so helpful. I watch TV late at night and now have a TV that doesn't light up the room like a beacon. I can dim the screen and don't lose out on display quality. The sound quality is better than my sound bar

unless you are deadset on OLED, this is probably the best bang for your buck. has some ads, but its android tv so you can easily sideload apps too. 2024 is tad slower than 2025, but pic quality is exact same. speaker do sucks though, either use a cheap soundbar or bluetooth speaker. tv built in speaker usually sucks anyways.

Picture is great if you can stay pretty much straight on to the screen. A viewing angle greater than about 30 degrees washes the colors out of the screen. It works for me, but take it into consideration. The screen is almost too bright, I had to dim it. Overall the TV is great. Sound quality is overall good.

The Hisense 55" U8 Series TV is a real treat for anyone looking for a big-screen experience without a big-screen price. The picture looks fantastic—colors are bright and bold, and even dark scenes are easy to see, which is great for watching movies or sports in a well-lit room. The sound is surprisingly full and clear, so you might not even need a separate sound system. Navigating through your favorite shows and apps is easy, and you can even use your voice to search or control your other smart devices. Whether you’re a movie lover, a sports fan, or just want a great TV for family time, the Hisense U8 delivers a top-notch experience that’s hard to beat for the money.

Picture lovely. A little difficult to figure out all the workings of this TV, the manual is sketchy at best. Perhaps there is an online manual that is more helpful. Got the 3 month free U tube and it glitched, had to contact a live person at Hisense to help. Took a little time, but the person who helped me was kind, patient and we resolved the problem. I am concerned that the remote won't last long, it seem flimsy. Anyway, over all I am very happy and the TV was at a good price point!

got the 55” U8H mounted in my bedroom with my Xbox Series X hooked up to it, and I’ve been really happy with it. The picture is bright and sharp, especially for a TV in this range. It handles HDR well and gets plenty bright for a dark or even a fairly lit room. I mainly use it for gaming and streaming, and it keeps up great—120Hz support, VRR, and HDMI 2.1 all work as expected. Overall, for the price, I don’t think you’ll find many TVs that match what this one offers. Great bedroom setup.

When my 12-year-old tv died, I didn't want to spend a fortune on a replacement. After reading a lot of reviews and comparing specifications, the Hisense U8 series seemed to be the best bang for the buck option. It really is a great value. The picture quality is fantastic, and I find myself re-watching some shows and movies just to see the difference in the picture quality. The purchase and delivery from Best Buy was fast and easy! I highly recommend the Hisense U8!

This TV offers an amazing picture for the price range. Deep blacks and extremely bright. The only downside is the limited viewing angle. But picture quality is equal to other brands costing hundreds more. I'd recommend to anyone wanting a great picture at a great price.

After much homework & YouTube videos, we settled on this Hisense U8N 55" TV. So far, we're happy with our purchase. We're not audiophiles, but we have the picture/sound adjusted to our liking. We're still experimenting with settings. Sound & picture are great; the built-in woofer adds to the sound quality & it can be adjusted independently. The TV was securely packaged, undamaged, & very easy to assemble using common tools. All the connection ports worked well and we connected our satellite receiver, streamer, & stereo receiver with no problems. TV comes with a quick setup pamphlet, but you can access a "generic" manual via QR code. BE SURE to transport the carton UPRIGHT when you bring it home, as you could damage the screen if you lay the carton flat! Best part of our experience: great deal/customer service at Las Cruces Best Buy-about half the price of the major brands for a quality TV! Do your homework & see if a Hisense TV might work for you!

Perfect addition to my medium-sized living room! The picture quality is exceptional with vibrant colors and sharp detail thanks to the Mini-LED and QLED technology. The sound quality is impressive right out of the box, no need for an additional soundbar, although I did purchase one. What really stands out is the anti-glare screen - I can watch from any angle in my living room without annoying reflections. The Google TV interface is intuitive and gives me access to all my favorite streaming apps. Highly recommend this TV if you're looking for premium features without the premium price tag.

This is a really great TV and the 55" screen is perfect for our elongated room when viewed from 8 feet or as far away as 20 feet. The brilliant colors, brightness and clarity are as good or better than I had hoped. Best Buy advice in ordering, and the delivery service to our door plus placement of the TV box into our living room were appreciated.

Got this a master bedroom tv and it’s worked really well so far. Being a bedroom tv, it’s in a really dark environment so its shortcomings vs. my LG OLED are more apparent. In a brighter setting it would probably seem closer to an OLED, but in a dark room, the blooming and backlighting is obvious. That being said, it’s a nice tv for the sale price ($799), but for the normal price of $1,099 - I’d say just pony up and pay a bit more for an OLED. Overall though I’m happy I bought it, just a bit spoiled coming from an OLED. If you’ve not owned an OLED previously, I would guess you’d find this tv perfect.
