Awesome TV! My beloved LG plasma was starting to go and needed to be replaced. Plus I was having major issues with glare on it so I did a bit of research. Four years ago I bought a Hisense 65” HF8 for the basement and I was pretty impressed with it for being a sort of budget TV so when it came time to replace the old LG I did a bit more research and everyone was raving about this for the picture quality, sound and value. I was a little apprehensive about switching to Google tv for the smart feature as I’ve been so used to Roku and my other Hisense is Android and I absolutely hate the Android (I wound up just hooking up a Roku to that one). But Google TV won me over immediately! I love it. I really wanted to stick with LG or Sony as the rest of my old TV’s are one of those and still work great but this one beat all the LG’s and Sony’s that aren’t OLED. The picture is amazing! Very detailed, very bright. Fights glare amazingly. Deep blacks, very vivid. Viewing from the angles isn’t the best but it isn’t much of an issue in my living room, plus if you have it on a wall mount like I do you can always turn it if you need to. But for how much less you pay for this than the Samsung Q90b this is a better value.

I have been using a TCL Roku TV for several years, so I was a little concerned if I would like going to Google instead. This was a great swap.
Setup:
When you get the box there are black tabs at the bottom. You can use those to remove the top part of the box to get the TV out. You will need a smaller Philips head screwdriver to put the legs on. It did take a little pushing to get them in. The legs need 34" of flat space for the TV to sit on. I tried to use a hardwired connection for the TV, for some reason I can only use WiFI. You do need Google Home installed to set this up. Follow the instructions. Once you get signed in most of the apps I used for my Roku defaulted to Google. I only had to add a couple. FYI Spectrum TV is not compatible with Google TVs. When you are doing your app sign on, if you have used Chrome to sign in to your account the TV can just log you in that way. Or, you can use QR codes. This is so much easier than having to type in an email and password.
Usage
The picture quality is amazing. For a flat screen TV, even the sound is pretty good. If you are watching a show and forget what it was and what app it was on, Google will keep a list of all the shows you are watching on a row. I could be go thru and delete most of the spam apps Google wanted me to use.
I can watch movies I have added to Google, but I had to add them to the TV. I really like having the splash screen with TV and movie suggestions
There are a few things I did not like.
The physical remote is kinda weird. On some apps you can press the pause button and it does that. On some you have to follow an on screen prompt to pause, forward etc.
A programmable remote would have been nice.
There is no volume/sound leveling.
There is no remote or app sound options like Roku, but I was able to pair my Google Nest Hub to make a bedside speaker.
There are ads, there are ads for streaming apps I already have and Google has tried to get me to sign up again for an app I already have.
There is live TV (pluto) would have loved to integrate my live TV from Spectrum on here.
The web browser is pretty bad.

55 inches of absolutely terrible problems. This is the TV for someone loves posterization, macro blocking, audio delay, and color banding. The U8H cannot handle gradients at ALL. As soon as something fades into black you get sharp edges and strangled blooming artifacts.
I do not recommend purchasing this TV. Or if you do test this immediately. I am not the only one out here having this issue. It doesn't not seem to be prevelant on the 65 or 75 inch models.
I wish I could return this but not only am I temporarily disabled, as soon as I purchased it I contracted COVID and could not set it up until after the return window. Going to beg Best Buy to return the TV. Hisense support is not great. The support person did not know what color banding was.

Best TV For The Price!

Was able to get lucky and found a “Certified Open Box” special deal on the Hisense U8H 55” TV and purchased it. Could not even tell the box was ever “opened” prior, it was all perfectly undisturbed inside as if it was brand new. Saved me over $100 off new price!
Picture quality fantastic. Right out of the box, it looked good, but adjusting some settings made it great. Very bright TV! No problem overcoming any glare or light reflection. Colors are vivid, motion is smooth. No “white halos” that I can detect. My only “gripe” would be that sometimes depending on the scene and what we are watching, the darkest of black color could be just a touch darker.
I can’t comment on the built-in speakers or sound out of it, as I have mine integrated with a Klipsch home stereo system with La Scalas as my mains, so needless to say it sounds excellent through that.
You would have to spend nearly double what this TV cost new before you found some comparable performance, so for $699 new, this TV is by far the best!

The hiscense U8H is an amazing tv! I’ve had a little over 5 months now and haven’t had a single problem with it. I’m a huge gamer but it’s also really important to me that the tv can do everything else well too. The fact that I can game on 120hz on my tv is amazing, it feels completely different from the older 60hz TVs. My game feels way easier to play it doesn’t feel like the screen is lagging behind or that the picture can’t perform as good as I’d like. The gaming on this tv has been fantastic and for just every day things like watching Netflix, Hulu, or Disney has been great as well. This Tv gives you a premium feel for a much more affordable price. If you’re thinking about buying this for a room with lots of lights it’ll have no problem with the sun it’s extremely bright so it’s really easy to watch during the day which I appreciated. At the end of the day my best purchase I’ve ever made, I have no regrets purchasing this tv and 100% urge anyone to buy it from gamer to average tv watching this tv does it all!

Fantastic Television for the money. It has a exquisite image with abyssal like blacks with extremely clever local dimming. The few drawback are it's video processing and some posterization. It's video processing is no where near as good as the big 3. In gaming on PC and console alike there is pretty noticeable posterization. Hisense has tried to fix this some with updates but they can't get rid of all of it. It's a defect of the design. But the rest of the picture looks so amazing besides it you will have to decide if it's something you can live with. This TV is BRIGHT! Like 2000 nits peak bright. HDR pops even more then my C10 OLED because the U8H is a light cannon. It has all the features of much more expensive sets but at a much more palatable price. If you are on a budget but still want top quality picture you really can't do better than the U8H. Despite some of it's limitations it is really the best bang for your buck TV in the market. Go see it in person. It will WOW you!

Honestly blown away at how good this TV looks. I spent a lot of time watching and reading reviews of various TVs and this one kept popping up as a champion in hiding. If you're not ready to plunge into the world of OLED, I highly recommend this TV. The sound will amaze most people, it can get a bit muddy - I certainly recommend turning down bass response before judging it. The darks are not OLED dark but they are very -very- close, the full array dimming one of the best if not the best implementation in the market - especially at the price. As for overall brightness, the ability to completely burn your retinas is there, play with the settings for your room conditions. Overall, I'm extremely happy that I found this TV and didn't jump on the OLED train.

After watching a few comparisons videos to decide between with this tv and the Tcl 6 series. I decided to go with this tv, and I have not regreted my decision. The tv is super bright, and the picture quakity is amazing. The black levels are great. The one thing i like about this tv is that you have a lot of control when adjusting the settings to your liking. I alos like google tv. There are so many apps at your disposal. For anyone that is on a budget, and is looking for a tv that is close to the qukaity of an oled. I recommend buying this one. This is one of the best tvs at this proce range.

This TV has exceeded my expectations with some amazing performance for the price. It offers rich and accurate colors, excellent sharpness, clarity, and responsiveness. Additionally, the brightness that this TV offers is the best that I have seen on any TV.
The many excellent features, including 4K with 120Hz refresh rate, eARC, gaming modes, HDR, voice control, etc. make this TV an excellent choice for not only media streaming, but also for gaming, and entertainment consumption, in general.

A TV that makes colors POP!

TVs are an ever changing landscape - LED, OLED, ULED - and this brand, Hisense is keeping up.
TL;DR for my frequent readers and details below.
Good:
On-screen colors
Dark / Cinematic colors
Available settings / customizations
GoogleTV experience
Remote (glows)
Inputs
WiFi 6E support
Bad:
Subwoofer / rattling
Down firing speakers
Meh:
Audio Output Delay (software bug?)
Setup of this TV was super easy. A shock to my system during setup was that my 6GHz network was seen (I typically know the WiFi capabilities when I hook something in) - meaning that this TV supports the 6E implementation of 802.11ax! This should make for some super smooth streaming.
I’ve always been more of an audio fan than one that fixated on imagery. Given that, I find that the down-firing speakers make it harder to hear dialogue at a distance, before having to raise the volume to a level that does let others know that I’m watching TV. With that, they did some work to make the overall audio better; adding a “subwoofer” was one of the pieces.
I did try different YouTube videos that show off bass and was able to make the plastic frame around the subwoofer rattle a bit when “bass boost” was at 5. Dialing it back a bit kept some of the bass but lessened the plastic rattling sound. Overall not bad at a higher volume for dialogue & overall music/sounds but I do think the down-firing speakers vs front-facing are a disadvantage here. I ended up adding a single sound bar to push sound forward & the experience has been much better.
When watching Cable TV (HDMI) with a Sound Bar (Optical), the audio was fine when set to “Auto.” While streaming, I noticed an audio delay of say “1” - meaning the mouth would move slightly before the sound would come out and that was annoying. I ended up switching it from Audio to the bottom “Dolby” setting and that synced up the audio and video perfectly.
When it comes to the colors, this TV is great. From action movies and Marvel shows to a movie like Sin City, whether it’s bright colors of costumes or dark black/white/color pop cinematography, this TV shines. I’ve watched numerous streaming shows & sporting events and have witnessed no chop or blur. Lots of visual options too - from backlight, to auto dimming and your typical “vivid” or “gaming” modes to tune the colors to your liking.
There are so many settings across all of the different menus, that you’ll likely find what you’re looking for with little effort and if all fails (and you’re an Android user), it should be reminiscent of a phone or tablet you’ve used before.
Something to note – with this being a new TV and all, I haven’t had a prompt to update the software; while this is great, I find it a bit odd as bugs are bugs, are bugs (Auto audio is delayed but Dolby isn’t)- and they need quashing.
GoogleTV isn’t solely a Cable alternative - it’s more of a ‘single pane of glass’ to access your favorite apps - and it can also be a Cable alternative - but I haven’t gone that route. Navigating around the home screen and the remote response time are all great - no issues whatsoever. Launching Apps, logging in, going back to home, launching new ones - had no effect on the TV and I hadn’t hit any lagging.
Popping back to the rear side of the TV - there are a ton of Input/Output options. From eARC @ 4k 120Hz to 4k 60Hz (4 HDMI in total) and Optical Audio - this TV has plenty of what I need. None of the 2 USB type A ports have enough juice to power a Chromecast at 1A & .5A respectfully.
All in all, this is a pretty solid TV. I’ve had a few Hisense TVs before (65in & 39in) and both of them generated some noise when on. That noise was something like a small computer running behind the TV, but there wasn’t one (well, I’m sure one drives the guts of the TV). On this TV, I don’t hear that noise; to be sure, I left it on the home screen for a while and didn’t hear anything kick on, or any ‘something is running’ noises.
Recommended!

Just because the brand is thought to be a low end TV by LG, Samsung and Sony snobs, doesn't mean they cant knock it out of the park and best those brands in this class and even some in the higher class. I am a bit of a Vizio fanboy as I feel I get a lot for the money with their top end TV's and will never spend $3k+ on a TV. I saw a NON BIASED tech review of this on Rtings.com (who is my go-to for all tech reviews on HT equipment) and they were right. This does NOT disappoint in any way. We have an open floor plan living room/kitchen/dining, so the room gets nice and bright during the day. This TV cuts through any reflections our old Vizio M series would sometimes struggle with. This is our daily use TV as we have a separate home theater for movies and gaming. So I cant speak to the gaming aspect of this TV. If they come out with an 85", I may have to think long and hard for our theater if we ever replace our Vizio PQX. But for an everyday TV show TV, it is fantastic. The colors are vibrant and very pleasing to our eyes. We don't care for the soap opera effect so we turn of all the motion blur correction settings. The picture is crisp, bright and looks beautiful. We have a soundbar/sub setup so cant really speak to the sound either. Let's face it, a TV is for visual enjoyment, not audio. This is a mid range (price wise) TV with premium picture. Go to Rtings.com and check it out yourself as it beats everything in its class and even some of the higher end TV's. Hisense will be on my radar going forward without a doubt.

Spent over a month researching which TV to use for my PS5 gaming set up. Ended up going with the Hisense u8h. It does not fail to impress! I recommend this to everyone looking for not only a budget TV but as a great TV in all catergories! 120 fps 4k gaming less than $800 is a steal!! And the wife loves watching her animal documentaries, she says “wow” more than Owen Wilson when a bright feathered bird gets to flapping its wings on the u8h!

In my opinion this TV model Hisense U8H 55 inches google TV is an extremely good television. I had the Samsung TU8000 before and this Hisense surpasses in every aspect. What I was looking for was the option to interpolation during games that goes 30 fps. This tv handles it much better than the samsung, Although I have to say that the game should run at 30 fps constantly. If goes below that the game stutters with the interpolation function. There is the common artifacts that forms around the main character specially. But it is tolerable. You have to deactivate the instant response option in order to work. At the beginning, I didnt know that so this option enables automatically so games that run at 30fps have a horrible scrolling effect that is impossible to enjoy the visuals. And the screens turns out very dark in my opinion. So, I make sure to disable instant game response option.
Of course at games that goes at 60 fps this tv handles it very smooth naturally. Although there is like a blur effect. I prefer to play 60fps games with interpolation option too.
The image quality is amazing in my opinion. Specially the bright and dark scenes. IT is very clear and crisp.
THe tv is too heavy in my opinion. Other 55 inches televisions like the samsung tu8000 can be lifted easily, not this one. I needed some help to install it.
The price for this model was very good for what it provides.
The google tv is very fast. I haven't had any lags or problems. The remote control is nice too. The keys illuminate which was surprising.
I was unable to try the 120 hz 4k yet. I hope it works when in the future I need to use some of that content.
The sound which is very important is very loud and the subwoofer is amazing too. I didn't know it comes with this built in.
The delivery was fast and just as planned. They called to confirm my location. And in 1hour they have been here.

Best 4kuhd tv I've ever seen! The picture is so vivid and crisp, the framerate makes video games and movies look incredibly real, and for a great price! I've owned Hisense Tvs for over a decade and the brand hasn't disappointed me yet! As far as UHD HDR tvs under $1k, this is a fantastic TV. The color is rich, the contrast is great, and it works superbly well in both dim and brightly lit rooms. The local dimming feature cleans up the picture a lot and the Google TV software is one of the easiest to use on the market.
The bluetooth connection for headphones and speakers can be a bit wonky and there is a delay unless your device has aptX. And the software can get buggy and slow down if you have too many apps open and don't do a full power cycle every month or two.
The biggest knock against this TV, and not everyone will notice this, is the way it handles gradients. It basically can't create smooth gradients going from light to dark so there is a lot of color banding that happens. My wife doesn't notice it at all, but it bugs me sometimes.
