CONS: This is a great TV. But figured I’d get the cons out of the way first. - Blacks are not OLED level. Sometimes significant blooming. IPS panel bleed on the edges all the time. Black bars on top/bottom are never truly black. - No way to constantly monitor what HDR you’re in, what audio format you’re getting, what Hz it is at, and other specs that help troubleshoot when something isn’t working or to insure you have something setup correctly. Does pop up info when you are on that HDMI. But for like 2 seconds before disappearing. - No way to turn off remote backlight manually. - Upscaler doesn’t appear to work very well. - AI features are not there yet. - 3 HDMI ports instead of 4. But all are high quality (4K at 165Hz) - eARC doesn’t appear to work with native TV apps. PICTURE QUALITY 8.5/10: Blacks are going to be the weakest part of this TV. Just due to the technology vs OLED. With that said they are excellent here, especially compared to other non-OLED TVs. But not perfect. It has full-array local dimming. But finding the number of zones was difficult. I saw anywhere from 2800 – 5000 zones. Which is why it is thicker than other TVs. This does allow for impressive blacks. Along with it being a mini-LED. But they are not OLED level (as those can turn off each pixel, which is about 8 million). When testing in a pitch-dark room I did notice very mild IPS bleed at all 4 edges of my TV. The bars that you see on the tops and bottoms of content were never truly black, no matter if I was watching streaming or a 4K Blu-ray. But close enough to not be distracting. Interestingly content in 4:3 the bars on left/right were black. I watched a lot of dark scenes purposefully in my testing as that will make or break this TV for me. I was able to see a lot of detail in the blacks without noticeable crushing which was a delight. Dark scenes by and large were very satisfying with no blooming or mild enough blooming that it was not distracting. There were some scenes where the backlighting would fail and I’d get a ton of blooming. But those instances were rare. Overall, I’m giving this an 8/10 for blacks. Where this TV shines is the brightness. They report 5,000 nits, which is dramatically more than OLEDs are capable of. This is where the wow factor comes in semi-regularly. Especially, in dark scenes where you have extremely bright lights (red lasers from Star Wars, Lightsabers, the end scene from Deadpool and Wolverine) just pop out at you. Any of your daylight or bright scenes look incredible. I watched several nature documentaries and just gorgeous stuff. This TV is bright enough to be used in any scenario where you have high brightness in the room itself. Colors pop, appear accurate (after a bit of tuning with the right setting), and are a joy to look at. I’d give brightness/colors a 10/10. They report a ‘Anti-Glare Low Reflection Pro technology’ but this thing is like a mirror. It gets bright enough a lot of that is washed out. But you can still see it very clearly when looking. Most of my testing was also in a dark room without lights. Last, for motion I had it turned off and it was very smooth. With only the occasional instance where I would notice some jutter. As for HDR formats. It supports all of them (Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG) which is a big thumbs up. It does come with a bunch of AI features (Hi-View AI Engine Pro). I’m a fan of AI in general. I think it is capable of truly remarkable things (and some not so good). Some of the features here work well. Others, not so much. I’m more interested to see how this develops over time with firmware updates and if the processor is able to keep up. I bring that up as watching low-resolution content on this TV is a bit rough as it is very noticeable (blurry looks terrible). Making me not sure how much the upscaler is doing. Or perhaps, it’s a testament on how good high-quality things look that the difference is more noticeable. Some of the other AI features destroy colors. In general, I turned off nearly all of them as that netted me the greatest picture quality. GAMING 9.5/10: This comes with 48 Hz - 165 Hz Native Refresh Rate with 480 Motion Rate Frame Interpolation and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Auto Low Latency Mode, Low Latency MEMC. Gaming on this is an incredible experience. I’ve never had a TV that handles a gaming laptop plugged into it so well. Colors were excellent, blacks and contrast were excellent both in SDR and HDR. When you turn on HDR the brightness of this display so high that things look so good (Cyberpunk, Halo Infinite). Blooming was minimal. Noticed mostly with Silent Hill 2. Which is essentially a stress test for contrast and I would easily play it on this TV. But its not as good as an OLED for that type of game. Escape From Tarkov looked fantastic and had no problems with latency. Reading and doing actual work on it was delightful. Which I’ve never said for a TV before. Text was very sharp. No blurring or weird artifacts. Just wow. As was watching YouTube/TV shows. Which for SDR content I actually preferred over my Apple TV box. I was blown away here. Took away half a star just because of contrast not being OLED level. There is also a USB-C Display Port on the left side of the TV. For you to easily connect a laptop too. Which is incredible. It wasn’t as good as the HDMI as no Freesync and limited to 120 Hz. Color accuracy and contrast didn’t seem as accurate either. But that is me really splitting hairs. Still great but not a knock out of the park like the HDMI is. SOUND QUALITY 8/10: It comes with a built-in 82W 4:1:2 Mutli-channel speaker system that support Dolby Atmos, Surround Sound, DTS Virtual: X. This does a shockingly good job. Audio is clear, if a bit treble focused, and I was able to get direction in a challenging scenario as my setup was not anywhere close to ideal. Conversations are easily understood, eliminating the necessity of subtitles. It gets extremely loud. I had it on 15 when I was cranking it. Which is less than a quarter of the entire bar it comes up with. Usually around 10 – 12 for normal listening. Bass was a bit anemic. But present and satisfying enough. Good enough that for normal TV shows I wouldn’t have a problem using this without a soundbar. But having such an epic TV and skimping on the sound for HDR movies is just doing yourself a disfavor. BUILD QUALITY 9/10: No complaints here. It weighs 89.3 lbs. It uses a single stand leg which baffles me. The stand weighs probably 15 – 20 lbs. It does support VESA Wall Mount (600 mm x 400 mm). Remote is S-Tier. Very comfortable. Laid out nicely. Is backlit (which you can’t toggle on/off which is frustrating). My favorite TV remote I’ve ever tried. Comes with a 2-year warranty. Attractive back design where you can see the speakers that fire backwards to the wall along with two speakers that fire from the sides of the TV. I did not see any controls on the TV itself. Which is a bummer. I suppose you could probably operate it through your phone? If you lost your remote? I’m not sure. PORTS 9/10: It has a Display port via USB-C on the left side of the device (epic). But was limited to 4K 120 Hz. It has 3 HDMI 2.1 ports instead of 4. Which is a bummer. Especially, when one of those is an eARC port. Limiting you to 2 ports. But all of them are high-quality supporting 4K at 165 Hz. It also has, 1 LAN, 1 Composite Video, 1x Optical Port, 1x 3.5 mm Audio, 1x USB-A 3.0 and 1x USB-A 2.0, eARC, Wi-Fi 6E, ATSC 3.0 TV Tuner. Works with Alexa, Apple Homekit, Google Assistant. Outside of the 3 HDMI ports no complaints here. GOOGLE TV OS 7/10: I enjoy this OS a lot more than others. It was snappy and responsive. Not the biggest fan of layout. Also, a lot of ads. Having apps that can immediately open from your remote is a nice touch. But I wasn’t able to get sound to my Astro A50x (via eARC) when going through the built-in apps. But my headset worked just fine on everything else (Apple TV, 4k Blu-ray player, console, laptop/computer). I’m removing multiple points for the heavy ads. Because gross. But prefer that over Vizio’s or Samsungs.

For the last week, I've been testing the new 75" Hisense U8QG Mini-LED smart TV with Google TV. Overall, this TV exceeded my expectations in just about every way imaginable. I've been wanting to upgrade my TV for a while now. After researching all the available brands and technologies, Hisense consistently stood out. Their TVs consistently offered comparable specs to models costing twice as much; it seriously seemed too good to be true. However, I'm now a believer. I specifically chose the 75-inch TV because the 85-inch model seemed too massive. This proved to be the right decision, considering the box dimensions are 46" x 77", which barely cleared my 8-foot ceiling during unboxing. As expected for its size, moving and mounting the TV is a two-person job. However, Hisense made the unboxing and setup process convenient. They provided clear instructions for using the styrofoam packaging as a temporary stand while installing the actual stand and thoughtfully included a protective cover on the screen bezels to prevent accidental damage to the display during handling. The remote control is awesome. It's responsive, well-balanced, and has four apps I actually use, plus a button for my favorite app. It also flawlessly changes the volume on my stereo. And, the feature I love most is that it lights up when I pick it up. The user interface of the TV is responsive, easy to understand, and provides a multitude of tuning options. Each option displays a short visual description of what the setting does. The built-in Google TV OS is also top-notch. All of my commonly used applications were readily available for download, and they all launched rapidly. The 4.1.2 speaker array almost eliminates the need for an external sound solution. The speakers get extremely loud and have virtually zero distortion. Voices are clear (eliminating any need for subtitles), and other sounds are pronounced. Even the bass level is acceptable. It is more than enough sound to eliminate the need for a soundbar; however, it would benefit from an external subwoofer. When it comes to display performance, this TV absolutely blew me away. Everything I watched looked amazing, and if you look at my pictures, you'll see how dramatically it outshines my old TV. From the moment I started watching, several things stood out. The black levels are so profound that the TV could easily be mistaken for an OLED. The way this TV reproduces and displays color is exceptional. It's extremely vibrant but stays true to life, avoiding an oversaturated look. One visual that really stood out was how grass looked genuinely green on this TV, not an artificial neon, and the subtle contrast distinction from shades of yellow and orange or red were perfectly clear. Skin tones were perfectly rendered with a natural, true-to-life warmth, and even the sky in a scene looked just as it would if I were gazing outside. Brightness and local dimming zones are so phenomenal that they make cityscapes leap off the screen. Also, the anti-glare coating works wonders. Those pesky recessed lights in my room were virtually invisible on this display. And whether I'm front and center or off to the side, the viewing angles hold up beautifully, delivering a consistently excellent picture without any noticeable degradation. With all that said, if you are looking for a top-of-the-line TV, this is it! I am truly so enamored by the display quality that I don't believe my vocabulary is strong enough to describe the absolute beauty this screen produces. I highly encourage you to give this Hisense U8QG a try.

I recently purchased the 2025 Hisense U8 75-inch TV, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The picture quality is absolutely stunning — deep blacks, vibrant colors, and impressive brightness that really brings HDR content to life. The motion handling is smooth, making it perfect for both movies and sports. The sound quality is surprisingly rich for a flat-screen, with clear dialogue and decent bass. The Google TV interface is fast, intuitive, and packed with streaming options. I also appreciate the premium build quality — the slim bezels and solid stand give it a high-end feel. For the price, this TV delivers performance that rivals much more expensive models. If you want a large, cinematic viewing experience without breaking the bank, the Hisense U8 2025 is an excellent choice.

I have never owned a TV with such a beautiful picture right from the box. There was no fancy color calibration and there wasn't one required, the colors were vibrant, contrast was excellent. It is much thinner than my previous Samsung and I really like how close it hangs against the wall.

This TV is an absolute powerhouse. Not only does the picture rival that of the most high end mini led tvs and is close to the oleds. It offers 4k 165hz as well as 1440p 288hz game mode. I have ran multiple AAA titles with my pc 9950x3d cpu and 5080 gpu and since getting this tv my oled 4k 240hz 0.03ms moniter hasnt been turned on. I have a 7.2 surround but I tested the tv speakers before hooking up the surround sound system and the sound from this tv with 7.1.2 with the 2 atmos speakers is beyond anything I have heard or expected a tv to produce on its own. No sound bar or tv with atmos capabilities and a sub will ever compete with true surround sound but this one does one heck of a job try to do so!!

From the moment I unboxed the Hisense U8, I knew I’d found something special. Lifting it out of the box felt like revealing a hidden treasure—solid, weighty, and wrapped in protective film that practically begged me to peel it away. Once I’d snapped on the sleek stand and plugged it in, I couldn’t believe how effortlessly the TV curved into our living room decor. It immediately made the whole space feel like a home theater. My first test drive was a late-night film marathon. With Dolby Vision IQ engaged, every frame burst with color so vibrant it was like watching the movie through a new lens. Deep blacks never looked this deep—even in the middle of the day, sunlight streaming through the windows can’t wash out a dark scene. I actually paused one of the more shadowy suspense scenes just to admire the contrast—the sort of moment you don’t get on most TVs without dropping serious dough. Gaming on the U8 is equally thrilling. I flipped into Game Mode and launched a fast-paced racing title; the 165Hz refresh rate kept everything lightning-smooth. No judder during sharp turns, no blur when I shot across the screen at top speed. And the low input lag had me crossing finish lines with total confidence—every button press felt immediate and precise. Sound quality on this set surprised me more than anything. I had mentally prepared myself to plug in a soundbar, but the built-in speakers filled the room with clear highs, punchy mids, and enough bass to make concert clips feel immersive. On a weekend soccer match, I actually found myself leaning forward at the dramatic plays, cheering as if I were in the stadium. Navigating Google TV was the cherry on top—everything’s organized just where you want it, from streaming apps to voice control that actually understands my accent. Setting up profiles for each family member meant no more “What should we watch?” arguments. The U8 learned our favorites after just a few days, serving up recommendations that felt tailored to us. In short, the Hisense U8 isn’t just a TV—it’s become the beating heart of our living room. Crisp visuals, powerful audio, and polished smart features all wrapped in a design that looks as premium as it performs. If you’re on the fence, take it from me: this TV transforms ordinary evenings into unforgettable experiences.

It has been since 2016 that I had purchased a new TV. Of course my old TV was 65" Sony and still working. But this new Hisense 75" is very Impressive. I purchased because on sale and the big 3 started raising their prices and extended warranties because of the Tariffs. The Hisense U8 2025 has progressed very fast and the big 3 should be worried. Hisense anti-glare is not very good, but the sound system is excellent for a TV without soundbar. I did purchased the Hisense 5.1.2 and haven't even taken out of the box, that is how good I think the sound there factory sound is.

This Tv exceeded my expectations. It very nice and bright out the box. But I don’t think many people watch TV that bright, since it could harm your eyes. After calibration, this TV looks fantastic. There are some motion problems here and there, even though the settings is off, but it’s tolerable.
