I purchased this after returning the 85inch Samsung QN90D. I was highly disappointed with the picture quality, brightness, black levels and overall functionality of the TV. For that to be Samsung's flagship 4K QLED TV it was a major letdown. I did some more research on looking for a TV that best suits my needs. I big on brightness and HDR effect and i a huge movie enthusiast. After watching some reviews i ended up picking this up and have been way more satisfied with this over the QN90D which was almost $1000 more. While this has it's short comings, I'm pleasured with all of the picture sittings you can change on this tv, the brightness is great. I keep hearing oled like black levels. However this is not true, its decent and only time i really see some decent black levels are from YT vids that are mastered for the consumer to be amazed. The Demo store mode content. Neither the less it far beat out the QN90D. I do wish this set had a bit better motion processing where it fails at in some areas. But the overall detail and pq is great. I dig the google os. Though i do hope they add 1 feature and a firmware update down the road. The first being an info button to where you can see the signal and the HDR format such as HDR10, Dolby Vision, or HDR10+. You can see this on the initial input change but after that, you cannot. Also, blu-ray content. Not the fault of the TV as I have noticed this on other high end TV's, the pq just seems horrible now days for 1080pcontent on disc or not. The upscaling of 1080p content just looks very mediocre and doesn't seem as great as TV's once made them look before. My first 4K TV the Samsung JS8500 upscaled 1080p content amazingly. This content looked as great as the actual 4K content. However, after purchasing many more TVs since 2015 then upscaling has just gotten worse and worse and worse. But other than that this is a great TV and steal for the price.

I was coming from an 85 inch Samsung QN90A and wanted a TV with Google OS, Dolby Vision and more than one HDMI 2.1 ports and obviously better picture and for the most parts this Hisense delivers. Its much brighter, its HDR performance and contract are tremendous with picture looking almost 3D where there are many scenes you feel you can reach out and touch the characters on screen. When you feed it high quality 4k signal with Dolby Vision or HDR10, you will be a happy camper. Its just jaw dropping how clear, sharp and contrasty the picture is. I started to rewatch a lot of modern series and movies just to appreciate how the picture "pops" on this set. Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, Netfilx Atlas are some examples of shows that are just phenomenal looking on this and miles ahead of Samsung (which was a flagship 2021 mini-LED TV and still looks great). The black levels are ridiculously black and no noticeable blooming that I can tell. Having said that, this Hisense is not perfect. Its upscaling of 720p and 1080p content is not as sharp as my Samsung. I notice certain softness and a bit of pixelization in the backgrounds of dark scenes. Not horrible and I need to tinker with settings more, but not as good as Samsung. The viewing angles are not great but not horrible either (If you sit within 30 percent angle you will enjoy a great picture). Also I feel that gaming mode looked a bit better with Samsung, just a bit more sharp and saturated. Again, I need to play more with the settings and it could just be that I am used to "Samsung picture". God of War and MK1 looked great on Hisense and I like its game bar where you can pin the FPS counter in the corner of the screen. VRR up to 144hz worked real well. TV is a little thicker and heavier than my Samsung but that is due to it having a nice audio system which I didn't use as I connected it straight away to a soundbar. Also, Hisense has some software quirks that hopefully will be worked out. The one that bothers me the most is that it doesn't show the volume numbers when I press up and down on volume when its connected to my Samsung soundbar. It just shows a generic speaker icon with plus or minus blinking and I have to look as the soundbar itself to see the exact level of volume where I am at. Overall, I would give it 4.5 out of 5 with biggest issue being upscaling. But if you feed it mostly 4k and HDR signals you will be a happy camper! And the value of this TV at under $2500 (on sale) cannot be denied. Its easily going against other companies flagships that are DOUBLE or TRIPPLE the price like Bravia 9 and QN90D and even G4. Hisense brings high brightness and ridiculous contrast and excellent blooming control and while in some areas in might not be as good but if its 90% as good but 100% cheaper, I would call that a good deal.

Wow for all Nit nerds this is the one to beat. The 4K content with Dolby Vision has never looked this detailed. I purchased the 85 version for 2k and there is nothing that comes close. Considered the the bravia 7 but after seeing both in person it wasn't worth the price difference. There is no blooming and very close to OLED black levels without the worry of screen burning, yes its still a thing. The biggest complaint from TV Snobs is the off angle viewing I have a fairly large living room and see the tv off angle and see some minimal differences but to a non videophile there is no difference. This is my first non sony television and the only worry is durability. Only time will tell but with a two year warranty on this model I do have piece of mind. My panel was flawless when conducting tests. My only complaint is having heavy speakers on a tv on this size is pointless, most people will add better sound so its a waste space and weight. I have a bright room and the brightness might still be a little to bright for certain people but the video options are great that quickly allow you bring down the brightness during the night.

When I first purchased the 85" U8 Hisense TV and turned it on, i was really disappointed after plugging in our fire stick TV and turning on a movie on netflix. Not only was the clarity terribly grainy, but it was also slow to respond. I spent the next day wiring my ethernet directly to this Tv and utilizing the google interface and all the apps through the TV. Holy cow! This TV transformed into an absolutely gorgeous picture, and all the movies that support dolby vision and HDR automatically play in the properly! This TV looks like it is oled for HALF the cost! Do yourself a favor and purchase this TV. Just make sure you set it up properly as not having it set up results in very bland video that will make you hate the setup. Worth EVERY penny!

Great picture. Good price. Easy setup with Google operating system, which is very quick with almost no input lag. It's very heavy, but feels stable on wall mount that attaches to two studs. Good sound. Incredibly bright, even in a bright room.

Arrived with a defect and turns itself on randomly

The picture on this TV is fantastic but unfortunately it arrived with a small defect - there is a yellowish stain / spot in the bottom right corner *behind* the screen (see attached pics). This is visible during SDR and HDR content which is disappointing. Also, the TV has a mind of its own and will inexplicably turn on at random times when no one is home or when everyone is asleep at night. I consider myself a pretty tech savvy person - and after an exhaustive amount of research and fiddling with every possible setting - the only temporary fix I could find was all related to the microphone. After manually disabling the TV's far field microphone (a literal switch on the bottom center of the TV) AND disabling google's permission to use the microphone - the TV no longer turns itself on. So - I'm not sure why this fixed the issue but it's not ideal because I had to sacrifice functionality for convenience (ie. now I can't use my voice to control the TV or search for things anymore). This is all to say - I'm less than impressed and will be filing a warranty claim. So if you're searching for a 85" mini-LED TV I would suggest possibly going with a different brand.

Had this TV just a little over 3 weeks. Watch several movies and sports. The picture is amazing, brightness is off the charts. For this price I don’t think you can buy a better overall picture. But, a few things I don’t like. The operating system is slow and lags quite a bit. I have youtubetv and watched the World Series in 4K and it was laggy and choppy almost as if the internet was slow but I have fast internet. I have since ditched the Google tv and put my Firetv 4K max and no more problems. The sound is decent for a flat screen. It was very heavy to get up on the wall. Overall I would buy again just for the amazing picture quality but would ad an external device over the built in system.

Works great as expected. The contrast and black levels are extremely good. Color accuracy is also excellent. Not much more you can ask for. Debated between the U8 and the B4 and ultimately went with the U8 and am very satisfied as the black levels are very close to OLED while still having excellent brightness.

This TV is no doubt living up to expectations! Loving it! Very comparable to my 77” S90C! Not seeing the issue with viewing angles as mentioned in RTINGS review. Have to be far off angle to notice it. TV is very, very bright!!! Had to turn down a notch during night. Was very well worth the money as was on the fence due to viewing angle concern but glad I did! Will see how holds up over time!

Its been almost two months since the purchase of Hisense 85inch. I got to say for 1800 hundred bucks not bad. Great picture, awesome brightness. The built in sound is really nice as well. The down side is the Menu. Good luck. Takes a few hours or days to figure it out. Not a bad but on sale.

I’ve had the Hisense 85” U8 Series (2024) for a little over 6 months, and it’s absolutely fantastic. The Mini-LED + QLED display is super bright, with deep blacks and vibrant colors—movies and games look incredible! What I love: Stunning picture – 4K HDR is crisp and colorful Great for gaming – 120Hz, VRR, and no lag on PS5 Google TV is super easy – all my favorite apps built-in (Except for HBO) Sleek design – thin bezels, looks premium Minor Downside: Speakers are decent but its not an issue I was planning on installing a sound bar anyways. For the price, this TV feels high-end and delivers an awesome home theater experience. If you're considering it, Id recommend to buy.

I would give this TV 4.5 stars if that was an option. The screen is of exceptional quality for this price, rivaling big brand TVs which cost $1000s more. 5 stars if you stop here. Where it falls short is the operating system implementation. It is buggy to say the least. My 4 year old Sony runs Google TV with much less issue. Apps often need to be force restarted just to function, and some apps never smooth out and stutter regardless. If you bring your own device or are ok with some hiccups, then you'll love this TV.

This was 4th/5th Hisense TV and the quality as well as sound is superb, especially on the U8 series. We used to be dedicated to brands like Samsung, Sony, and LG; however, this tv gives you just as good of quality if not better and at a much easier price point. Definitely make the jump to this brand they have really perfected customer experience.
