Excellent TV for the price. Sound is more than adequate. I wish some of the intelligent features could adapt quicker, but for price I am extremely satisfied with this unit.

Hello Colin, Thank you for your review on the Hisense 85U8QG and for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify that while the native refresh of this unit is 165 Hz, Motion Enhancement (image interpolation) doubles the motion rate to 480 Hz by creating new frames and inserting them in-between frames, which can alleviate motion blur. If you require technical assistance, please reach out to our dedicated support team directly at 1-888-935-8880 or via email at Service@Hisense-usa.com so that we can promptly address and resolve the issue for you. Thanks again, Harley with the Hisense Support Team. Hisense

I currently have a Hisense 60” 4k (2/18) and a 75” U6G 4k (8/21) that are both still working great. This new 85” U8QG model is the best yet and the picture, sound and multiple settings makes it a true winner. It is heavy – 150 packing weight, TV 100 lbs and 120 with base. So, if sitting on a stand/wall make sure it can handle this weight. Also to have a couple of friends (or maybe Geek Squad) available to help set up. Packaging is well thought out. Cut off a few plastic strips wrapping around box, remove a couple of lock handles and the box opens clam style allowing you to slide TV out easily. The 2 side Styrofoam protection pieces are used to cradle the tv on the floor while you to install the base. The base has two height options (I choose the one allowing most height) and is attached using 4 screws. Make sure you get all the wrapping material off. TV comes with basic setup and function descriptions. As is the case with prior Hisense TV’s I could write pages and pages concerning all the settings options – that now include AI - but would suggest going to Hisense site when registering and downloading the complete guide. All connections are on the left side of TV as you stand in front looking at it. Power is on the right. While all 3 HDMI inputs are 165Hz with 1 supporting eARC which is at least 1 to few in my opinion. I used 1 connection for soundbar eARC, 1 for cable connection and 1 for 4k Blu-ray (yes it isn’t used much anymore due to streaming) so I am left with no open connection for gaming computer – dis-appointing. I do have an old VHS player that I connected using AV port and it worked okay. I have wi-fi 7 mesh system with one satellite inches from the TV so wireless 6e connection and streaming has been very fast. It does have a hard wired ethernet connection as well. I really like Google TV and signing into my existing account was fast and easy. So, the home screen looked like my other Hisense tv’s, but I did have to sign into all my streaming services. I am still tweaking the 16:9 screen options days later. I normally turn off all “auto/intelligent” enhancements and then try one at time. But the picture is fantastic especially when streaming 4k high-def content. Using 1080P cable I watched old movies on TCM, then basketball playoffs, auto racing and regular content on various channels and all looked great. Supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10, HDR 10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HLG. 480 motion rate and 165Hz refresh rate. I didn’t notice much glare and the screen was clear viewing from any angle. 1 USB-A 3.0 and 1 2.0 connections. I attached a 2TB external drive with NTFS fromat and it recognized drive as another input and I was able to play my downloaded moves in mp4 and m2ts formats. Picture was great and even played with Dolby Atmos sound. I also was able to turn closed caption on/off (old ears). The tv is a tad thick, maybe to allow for the speakers. It has several sound options as well as an equalizer, but most are only available if no external speaker (eARC soundbar) is connected. I turned my soundbar off to test tv speakers and was impressed but tv is not wall mounted. It has earphone/audio out jack as well as digital audio optical out connection. Remote well thought out with reasonably sized/tactile buttons. Has voice control which I found works well. It finally has some backlit buttons. I set the TV to have Google assistant on all the time. So, I can turn lights on/off easily through TV. 2-year warranty - nice Also, if you select an option, it will minimize it to allow much more of screen to show to see effects of your choice. But there is no exit button to take you back to the main screen, you must go back through all the screens/options. There was one odd “issue”. I had to tweak my Sony Atmos soundbar settings as the rear speakers volume seemed to increase by 50%. I am not sure if this is due to better input from tv but I did have to make changes. It certainly sounds better overall. Also, with my 2 ¾ “ tall soundbar sitting on the stand it did not block my cable remote from adjusting the volume. A fantastic TV and it is a definite recommendation.
