Not the COD or BF replacement I was hoping for.

So after tiring of the lag and godplayer garbage in COD, I was ready for a change. Battlefield 2 was a really good game, but the gameplay just never felt "as good" as COD. I mean let's face it, for all of it's faults, nothing has touched COD yet on the xbox 360. Halo feels cartoonish, BF2 was close but all my friends were always on COD.
So my buddy tells me about this new game homefront, we all agree to buy it. I get it, bring it home and watch the opening movie. Graphics look ok, more BF2 than anything else I guess. But then I get server issue messages. Now I get it, it's a new game, they weren't expecting this or that, blah blah blah. But regardless, I personally feel that is totally unacceptable to sell a product for $60 to thousands and thousands of people and the thing doesn't work for what everyone bought it for. So regardless of anyone else's personal thoughts, my personal thoughts are a big F- in that department, totally inexcusable!
So let's assume that my friends and I can actually play the game in a week or so, like together, like in a party, like we were sold (you know "32 player battles, blah blah blah"). Let's say everything works out in that department. The game is cool in that it is the same controls as COD, cudos to the makers of the game for that. I knew what I was doing immediately which was VERY nice. The graphics were similar to BF2 in my opinion, which I find acceptable and don't really mind at all as long as the gameplay is good and the godplayer bull is gone. And what we call "godplayer bull" amongst my friends is that guy with the awesome connection in COD going 41 and 2 game after game after game, and it has NOTHING to do with skill. You know, on your screen you are knifing him in the head 3 times and after he amazingly kills you, you see his screen and you were just standing there staring at the sky while he shoots you once and you die and he runs to the next fun kill for him (which is NO fun for anyone else).
So the "dedicated servers" in homefront were supposed to solve this issue to my understanding. So everyone is running off the server instead of one guy with a really really good connection. Now I've only played 10 games or so and it appears that the godplayer thing is being held at bay from what I can see. If this continues to be true, then I will continue to play this game and foresake COD forever. And I'll continue to play it until BF3 comes out, then I'll probably be done with it, or maybe crysis (spelling??) will lure me away sooner.
I have noticed in the gameplay that unlike shooting a godplayer 15 times and they just mow you down. I have noticed that I will be shooting someone over and over and over again and they are doing the same to me (where neither of us are godplayers) but it's almost like the game isn't registering either of our shots. Definitely not the feel of connecting with a shot like in a good/fair match (when it happens) of COD or BF.
In summary, inexcusable sale when not ready for online gameplay for those buying the game (I mean they know how many games they printed and sent to stores right? they should have been ready for at least that many people!). Graphics and gameplay average, but fun. Dedicated servers and COD copycat controls a great idea as well. I feel I should have paid $29.99 or $19.99 though for this game, not $59.99.

I am going to have to agree with most on here. The game is not very good. The story starts out slow and is short. I was expecting a great story from the writer of "Red Dawn" and "Apocolypse Now", but was very disappointed. It was like a rip off from the "Terminator" story line just with Koreans instead of Machines! There were No action sequences in this story that took my breathe away as in the COD games. The graphics were not that great either. And online play although having large maps, was actually quite boring. I still haven't met anyone I know that really likes this game. Rent it, borrow, or buy a used one for cheap if you really want to check it out.

I am almost speechless. First of all I wasn't expecting perfection but in this day and age I do expect certain things. Good graphics and a single player campaign that lasts more than a few hours. Also I have come to expect some kind of AI bot mode (insert Black Ops kudos here) or a horde mode (insert Bulletstorm or Gears kudos here). Give me some reason to buy your product. I got suckered into this one for sure. I was hoping for a good buy. I am so turned off that I won't even attempt the multiplayer online. I will be trading this one in and taking whatever I can get for it and not looking back. Don't buy. Rent.

I purchased this game from Best Buy yesterday after listening to my brother rave about it's release. When I texted him to let him know I just picked it up he was playing online multiplayer and said "I don't know, it's all right I guess." If someone tells you that don't buy it. Anyway, I get home pop it in my 360 and go straight to online play. 20 minutes later after several attempts and messages that said "Server not available, try again later" I finally get in. I log into a match and pick the assault class, graphics at first seem ok until I start moving and then the choppiness sets in. "WOW", this is terrible. I then see another player across the map shooting at me but he's flickering in and out and there's bullets flying at me from a blank spot in the screen. Next I see a player climb a ladder and hims arms and legs aren't moving as he goes up so he basically levitates to the top of the ladder. This kind of thing is not excusable in this day and age. Then there's the voice-over work which sounds like they took some recordings from the villains of the Power Ranger TV show. They clearly invested 90 % of the budget for this game in marketing and the other 10% in development. Looks like an early trade in on this one. I just hope I can at least get 25 bucks for it.

Just got this game today, had it on preorder for over a month. Very disappointed in what was supposed to be this super-submersive, deep campaign. At first, the opening movie made it feel like it was for real, then the gameplay started. Felt like I was looking at and controlling a PS2 game. Graphics=poo.Controlls=poo. Refresh rate=poo. Haven't played multiplayer yet, and probably won't, I will just finish the campaign and get right back into Black Ops or something. Truly disappointing.

man I'm not about to trash games for no reason but I feel the need when I'm playing the story mode and I'm aiming at the bad guys and none of my shots hurt the guys, well thats what keeps happening in this game I believe is glitching nasty. it is different than COD shooter style and thats good but not when the game glitches so bad that the bad guys never go down. also the online multiplayer sucks aswell because theres only 6 or 7 maps for it I guess if you love the team deathmatch games then this multiplayer is for you because thats all there is in this game. also when aiming down nothing ever stays put it just moves all over the place!! I've played all my shooters on veteran or the hardest level and have finished them but this game with its glitchings and poor online setups makes me not want to even finish playing the game. THQ have totally dissapointed me with this game I love Reflex from them and I believe they should stick to those games I wasted my money and my time and it only took me 2 days to figure this out.

Campaign was not worth it. You cant jump onto cars, you have to keep picking up guns b/c you can't collect ammo, things like swing sets are box obstacle meaning you can't walk under it you have to walk around it, you spend most of your time following a npc who gets you killed most of the time, and campaign was maybe 4 hours of total game play, meaning it was so short it felt like a demo.
Multiplayer has 32 player death matches or 28 player flag/demo/ground war. On a Monday morning there was 4 people online and I'm one of them. The layout is a combination of Rainbow 6 Las Vegas 2 and MW2. Primary, secondary, frag, smoke, armor, extra gear, 2 perks, and 2 kill streaks plus all sorts of attachments. BUT no one is online. The highest ranked person is a 12 out of 50.

In the year 2027 America is taken over by a well-organized,well funded North Korea. The single player has you controlling a member of the resistance movement and engaging in guerilla warfare across schools, shopping malls, and more from a first person perspective. The gameplay is your typical FPS,so no worries there. One problem about the game is the short story campaign,it will take only 4-5hrs to finish, the game only has 7 chapters. The graphics aren't as good as most FPS,but if you buy/rent this game for graphics you might want to stay away. The sound effects are functional, voice acting is fitting for the story and multiplayer games. While this game will not make you want to leave your last FPS cause of graphics,or short story ect,it does have room to replace your multiplayer status.

I played the campaign, and online few times and I must say that their is no way to summarize the game in one sentence.
Fun
Gameplay
Campaign
Online
Bad
Short campaign
Lame graphics
Online is full of campers (like any game)
Good features
Online- point system, I get points for playing objective and not just using 2nd chance ghost and sleight of hand to get kill streaks like everybody on black ops, and points become point streaks instead of cod kill streaks, at least modern warfare 3 is copying that art if homefront
Unlimited sprint
Spawn system online - when I re- spawn I see red dots where enemies are, that kind of helps with people who hide in the bushes and aim down sites *cough battlefield players cough*
Things depending on taste
Map size- Most of them are huge and based on vehicles.
Vehicles- bring new aspects to game, and it is different than battlefield
I can't say for everybody and I did not name everything but I had fun, with black ops being frustrating, mw2 full of noob tube campers and crysis stealth and armor homefront is good and fun choice, it has it's back draws. 4 words- THIS GAME IS FUN!!!
I hope I was help, if u see grammar mistakes it is because I am not from US, I live in US for a while but I have mistake moments specially when I'm tired and typing this after long day.

This is like one of the games that first came out when the Xbox 360 did, it's very "PS2ish." It is VERY glitchy, and the people that accompany you in the story do random stuff and shoot bullets into the sky sometimes. Motion is not fluid and nice like Black Ops. When you aim and shoot, you will feel that the frame rate is much lower than Black Ops. This game looked really cool, and had a lot of potential, but didn't use it.

First of all, after all the hype not very good. The single player mode can be completed in 4 hours or less. The multiplayer is actually really good but the servers suck. I haven't been able to connect most of the time and if you are in a party forget it. The servers have been down most of the week and they are VERY laggy. Not a happy customer! If I wasn't so sick of Black Ops I would DEMAND a refund!

This game was hyped quite a bit. There was a lot of anticipation. So much potential was there for a great game. Kaos Studios and THQ dropped the ball big time on this one. The audio quality is horrible. The graphics are outdated. It feels like a game on the original Xbox. The single player portion of the game is the shortest I've ever played for a FPS title (took just under 3 hours to play through the WHOLE game). The multiplayer server support is terrible, being virtually impossible to actually play a game. Do yourself a favor, skip this one and pick up the latest Call of Duty, Halo, or Battlefield game...

It's a COD MW/Black Ops rip off. It sluggish. The graphics stink. Don't waste your money. Save it for the new COD game and continue to play Black Ops. You will seriously regret buying this game. Its like they rushed the game together to get it out and didn't put any effort into it. I don't like the game play or lack of options and weapons. I guess if you hate Black Ops or COD MW they you might like this game. For some reason.
The story is depressing too. WTF? Korea takes over and enslaves Americans? That's what I want my kids worrying about. Not that they should or would play these type of games.

Dont waste your money on this game. Graphics are poor and the online game play is marginal at best. It has been over a week and it is almost impossible to connect to a server and if you do connect you can play a game or two before getting disconnected. If you really have to have it go buy a used copy for $40 instead of $60. Thats right this game is so bad people are taking it back and you can get it used one week after it was released for less than a used copy of COD Black Ops that has been out for months.

I had hoped that this would be a good game. I talked 10 of my friends into getting this game.. I tried for a week and a half and finally had enough. One night I spent 4 hours trying to get on line but could not get into a single match. The first night I play, I made it to level 3 and shut it off. The next time I logged in my progress was gone.
Every time I logged into the game it would make all of my achievements disappear and would not show again until I reset my xbox. I finally fixed the issue by deleting all saved data, reseting my cache, and then recovering my profile.
I tried again to log in with my friends 1 week after the game was released and still could not get in a match. I finally had enough and took it back. Lucky I was able to trade it in for another game due to all the problems I was having so I only lost a week of my time. All of my friends ended up returning to the various stores they purchased from as well.
The game is actually really fun if you can get in the match but that is rare. The graphics are not impressive at all but game play does make up for it.
Over all I would not recommend this game to anyone especially since the single player is really short and you cannot find a match online it's pretty much useless.
I also had problems with the single player. I played though the first mission and did not get a single achievement point and I have been told there are at least three you are suppose to receive.

Homefront is a good game! Really!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I must say I am very happy with my purchase of Homefront. I was skeptical at first because of all the bad reviews, but when people compare this game to COD, they are looking at it the wrong way. Of course we all know COD is the number one first person shooter, we get it, but that doesnt mean that a different type of FPS isnt fun... I actually welcome that with open arms. Homefront really takes a good approach at keeping the game exciting but also strategic which I feel COD lacks in some ways. Sure if you like to run and gun and have quick matches, nothing compares to COD, but Homefront gives you the team based gameplay while still keeping it fun. I really like the idea behind battle points which accumulate throughout the match so basically killstreasks arent based just on kills but other actions you do in the game. The kit customizations arent as plentiful as other games, but they did a good job at giving a solid variety of guns and customizations. Graphics are really good actually. I dont feel it takes away from the gameplay whatsoever. I am willing to sacrafice a little bit of detail if it benefits the gameplay which in this case I feel it did.
All in all I really dont understand why all the bad reviews? Not saying there werent valid points in some of the other reviews, but if I wanted a game like COD, I would just keep playing COD. Buy it already, you wont regret it!
