This game was brilliantly marketed. The story seemed like it would be awesome, and it was supposed to be THQ's answer to Call of Duty. Oops. The campaign sucked, was abysmally short, and it had no ending or resolution whatsoever. And I've never been one to say that graphics will make or break the game, but this almost looked like a last-generation effort on that front. The multiplayer was a neutered, less thought out version of Call of Duty mixed with Battlefield. And to top it all off, the multiplayer incorporated one of the greediest recent trends in gaming: the online pass. THQ reported that this game was more profitable than they anticipated. I blame the marketing, and the popular genre of modern war scenario FPS games. Skip this pile of fail.

I looked forward to this game because it was based upon "RED DAWN".Cool movie---lousy game.I only play single player games, don't have the patience for online mulitplayer games. That said, this game took me all of six hours to complete ($59.99 divided by 6 =$10 per hour). The game consist of constantly "FOLLOWING" other A.I. characters.Movement is constricted to "paths" most of the time.No open world roaming. It is a fast paced game were you really don't have time to look at all the scenery.(run and gun)So I'm not going to say the graphics are great. The pre-order game came with a homefront themed headset.Yet still hasn't arrived. This game is not worth $60 if you only play single campaigns.Wait a month the price is sure to drop fast.Rental is a better option (if $8 or under).best yet, wait for a friend to buy it,and borrow from them.If you are into multiplayer games you'll have to look elsewhere for a review.Game does have good A.I. responsiveness.

ok first let me say for me the story mode was yes very short but what the game lacked in play time it sure made up for with the story.when you start the frist mission and you get drove to the prisoin camp your watching americans get beaten and shot on the side of the road and a lil kid sees his parents get shot infront of him. theres kids crying everywhere.so for me that really made it feel like this is really messed up. personally i enjoyed the game. and the grafics arnt as bad as all the reviews are say but thats because everyone is comparing this game to call of duty. i would say if you can get this game for 30-40 bucks i would give this game a shot

Try this game is relly different and fun multipplayer game. The campaign is short, but like most games now in days, except for Halo. The multi player you will find entertaining and wont want to put your control away. The graphis are good, but not the best.

I pre ordered the game and picked up on Launch date. I was skeptical because I didn't normally like games from this particular Software developer. Though after a short time of playing it really was a fun experience. The Campain starts out a bit on the slow side trying to establish its plot which it does very well though maybe too well for younger players that shouldn't be playing the game in the first place. The campain was relatively short but ended on a high note preluding to a likely Sequel. Post completing the game I moved onto the Multiplayer a day or two later. That being said, I heard many negative points from the first day of online play. Several Users had reported Drops and loss of connection. Since Homefront uses dedicated servers, by the end of the night they had already started working on the issue posting a marquee across the bottom of the main screen stating that "they were experiencing higher than anticipated server volume and were bring more server online." As i started playing the online play I would compare it to a combination of Modern Warfare and Battlefield. Great online experience.

This game is honestly the worst game I have played in years. I would much rather paly Mario cart on my sixty four than sit and play this hunk of junk. I'm warning you now that if you buy this game you will easily regret it within your first 3 games of multiplayer gmaeplay. There are far too many choppers and tanks available and you basically die in one bullet from any gun. If you respect call of duty at all you will not buy this game or even play it or even watch it for that matter. Like I said above...DO NOT BUY!!!!

A review of multiplayer gameplay

First off, don't pay attention tot he people who said that it's laggy and impossible to find a match. If they'd actually paid attention to the update on the main menu of HF, they'd know that that's due to them underestimating the amount of people who were going to be on and not having enough dedicated servers set up. Plus, even with the worse connection that I experienced today, I'd seen far worse in both CoD and BFBC2.
I haven't played single player yet, so I can't rate it. As for my own biases, I tend to favor CoD, especially MW2 and before, although I also play a bit of BFBC2.
In terms of game play, I'd say that it's about halfway between CoD and BC2. the maps are larger than you'd typically find in CoD, but that was balanced out by the larger number of players. There are "perks" of sorts, but they don't play as crucial role for defining your class type. Maps are pretty decent, with about two geared more towards snipers (although there is a bunch of stuff in the middle to take shelter in) and everything else more of mid range.
Weapons are really balanced, as snipers are definitely better at longer distances, AR's and LMG's at mid distance, and SMG's at close range. After dying, he camera settles on the person who killed you for a few seconds. Unfortunately, there are only two game modes, Ground War (sort of like Domination in CoD) and Team Death Match. They have separate lobbies for battle commander and without it. While the mode selection is a little sparse, they did set them up pretty well, so they seem to have a certain degree of lasting appeal. Vehicles are extremely well balanced, I thought. Unlike WaW or BFBC2 tanks and choppers, these ones are relatively easy to take down if one has the skill to do it. On the other hand, there are defense mechanisms that you can employ if you're in the vehicle so that you don't loose your reward right away. Drones are weak, but are fairly powerful (I'd say they have about as much health as a person, on average).
As for complaints: 1) Their style of killcam is really revealing, similar to BFBC2's. 2) They don't have a grab/climb feature, for like ledges. So if I want to go through a giant window, I have to jump just right in order to make it out of it and not hit the ledge. 3) When you spawn, it takes you from an overhead view down to your body, thus allowing you to see where all the teammates and enemies are (pretty generally). I just don't feel you should be able to see your enemies from this. 4) You can't pull up a full sized map in game. 5) No Hardcore mode.
For comparison purposes, I became irritated twice while playing today - once for getting shot while unsuccessfully trying to jump through a window and once during the second most laggy game when I didn't get hit markers when I should have. Had I been playing Black Ops, it would have taken me between twenty minutes and an hour to get mad enough at the game to switch to a different one (which is saying something because I was tenth on MW2) . So, in conclusion, if you're looking for a different game to try, I'd suggest Homefront.

I got my game the day it came out. Popped it in and waited for over a hour to get online and play but the servers were over loaded. So I playing the story and in 2 1/2 hours, I had it beat. 1/2 of my game play was watching them talk.
The online part is better then the story but not by much. You have to wait hours for the servers to get less busy. Then you can only play the 24 player part and not the 32 person rooms everyone wanted. It has a Battlefield feel to it. But if your tired of Black Ops then this is the new game for you.

It Does have a good single player, however, it's really short. If you are getting this for the multiplayer. Don't! The vehicles And helicopters that are in this is a joke. It takes an hour to find a match and most of the time it just says that the servers aren't available. If you want a good shooter game stick to call of duty, and If you want good vehicles get battlefield.

If you plan on playing online do not buy this game. There is a problem that after you play online and enter your battlecode you will not be able to play again. Everytime you go to play your xbox will freeze as it is loads the game and you will have to restart your xbox.

The multiplayer on this game is amazing. You MUST get to level 7 online, where you can qualify for Battle Commander mode. It is a completely new way to play multiplayer, where you are assigned special tasks as the game progresses, makes it different every time. Since they added new servers, I have been able to play online without any delays. Single player tells a teriffic story.

Pre-order Headset = Epic Fail

I just got back from a business trip and opened my Best Buy HomeFront headset, which was billed as a $30 value you get free for pre-ordering HomeFront with Best Buy.
But after careful examination I feel I can officially label it as a "FAIL"
Why?
- First, for voice chat it has the old style XBOX 360 connector (i.e. no using it with the chat pad attached)
- Second, it has no game audio connector.... so it's voice chat only
- Third, since it covers both ears you'll need to crank up your stereo to hear the game through them
Conclusion:
$30 value? Not quite. For $30 at Best Buy you can get the Turtle Beach XLC which IS designed for voice chat AND game sound.
Sorry Best Buy, but your $30 value is an EPIC FAIL :(

I like the game but it can get boring after some time. Like I love games where u can drive & kill people like GTA4 and HALO. But I don't know why. I don't like MW2 so I gess it is to much like it.
