It worked great for the first 2 weeks. After that it started dripping water from the lower-back of the filter cover. Leaking a lot… completely soaked a towel and a half that I laid out on the ground during overnight use. Returned within 30 days.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you because of this portable evaporative air cooler. Filling the water tank with more than the required water, may cause leakage and spillage. The water level should not go beyond the maximum level water mark. This might explain why the unit leaked water. Our customer support team will be able to assist you with any future purchases. Please feel free to get in touch with us at 1-800-474-2147, Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (EST), or send us an email at [email protected] with the reference code number BBB0630. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank You !

ACTUAL measured cooling capacity of this guy: about 2,500 BTU/h on a hot, dry day (95 degrees, 20% humidity). It was able to evaporate 2.5 gallons over a 7.5 hour period. 1 pint of water evaporation = 970 BTU. A really small window air conditioner would be rated at ~8,000 BTU/h.
Which is to say, this thing is NOT great. The evaporative medium is way undersized compared to the tank; the tank is big enough to support the evaporative medium for like 30 hours of continuous use before needing to be refilled. While they claim that this unit can cool an area of 350 sq ft, I find that very suspect. You have to leave at least two windows open in the structure for the unit to work properly, meaning all the cooling capacity of the unit is fighting infiltration from the open windows. It just doesn't provide adequate cooling to claim it can realistically "cool" anything.
If you're looking for a really nice standing fan that will provide some efficient supplementary cooling, you've found what you're looking for. The louvers work well, and it produces good airflow.
If you're looking for a serious cooling option for your space, this is NOT what you're looking for.

Cooler Leaks Badly

LEAKS ON FLOOR. I wish I had read earlier reviews that reported the leaks of this unit. We followed the instructions for filling to the right level. This is supposed to be for indoor use, but it leaked at least a gallon of water on our floor and ruined a rug. Unit was not damaged, it was just poorly designed. Leaked out of the seam near the top of tank when the water from screen drained down. AVOID this and similar Honeywell units
