Honor is Dead is heavier than Wovenwar's first album (think somewhere on the spectrum between AILD and Wovenwar 1), but still a great listen. Some bands release stuff that sounds the same over and over... not so with Wovenwar; they seem to re-invent themselves just enough to keep their sound fresh yet not put off any of their fans. As a former As I Lay Dying fan, I'm glad these guys have thrived in spite of the controversy caused by their former bandmate.

Great album, basically As I Lay Dying minus the vocalist. So mostly clean vocals but still outstanding musicians.

Album number two is here and it hits hard. If you liked the first album then you better pick this up as well.

I prefer the first album. However, this one is a great follow up. More screaming than the first.

Wovenwar's debut album is excellent. It's a refreshing heavy-metal record in that it rocks as heavily as anything out there, but it also maintains great melody and rich vocal harmonies throughout. With the current abundance of metalcore bands out there, with the growling/screaming vocals, the first Wovenwar record was a welcome return to highly melodic heavy-metal (which I just personally prefer). This second album by Wovenwar though (Honor Is Dead) gets away from that a bit. It's still heavy and the lyrics are still intelligent, but there's less melody than the first record. Maybe this one will grow on me, but I definitely like the first one better.
