My wife and I were looking for an old-style buffer to clean and polish our wood floors. We found this Hoover Floormate Hard Floor cleaner and realized that it can be used on hardwood, ceramic, tile and brick-paver floors. When we bought it, at first it sat unused for a couple of weeks until my wife got up enough nerve to tackle the "difficult" job of cleaning the floors. Then, after reading the directions, mixing the cleaning solution (sample bottle included) with water, and getting started, it was off to the races. Since we purchased it, my wife has used it several times with great results. Pros: Easy, no bending over and scrubbing, the tank and brushes remove and clean easily, and the cleaner does a great job of picking up the used water/cleaner mix leaving the floors dry and streak-free. We've used it on both wood floors and sealed brick pavers with great results. Cons: none to speak of. The solution must be mixed and tank filled and emptied, but that's a heck of a lot easier than getting on your knees and scrubbing. Since this machine is so easy to use, it's easier to clean our wood floors more often, so they don't get that greasy grimey buildup, and look better all the time. Expect that the first time you use the machine, you may have to clean your floors a couple of times to realize the full effect of the way it cleans. Also, we haven't attempted to use anything else other than Hoover's recommended cleaning solution, and I'd guess from seeing how it performs that it's formulated correctly and one wouldn't want to uses anything else.

My health restricts me from some heavy household cleaning projects, scrubbing the kitchen floor being one of them. I find this scrubber easy to handle and it does a good job on the floor once you get the hang of how to move the cleaner. A slower motion works better than trying to be too speedy. I do wish the cord was just a bit longer, but I am able to work with this length. Wishing I had purchased sooner!

I love this product. It was cheap and works great! It even cleaned up paint we spilled on our hardwood floor without ruining the brushes. It got out dirt from the spaces in our hard floor that I never knew wasn't part of the grout color. Lightweight, easy to use, and easy to store. The only thing is that if you don't clean it after each use, and I mean the entire bottom, not just the brushes and tank, then it will smell like whatever you cleaned before.

I am always amazed at how much dirt this machine pulls off of the floor and so glad I purchased it. After cleaning, the floor looks much cleaner than when cleaned with a mop and I don't have to wait for the floor to dry as this machine cleans and then removes the liquid from the floor. It is easy to fill with the water and cleaner and easy to pour out the dirty water. This will not scrub the grout because it isn't designed to clean deeper than the tile (unless the grout line is very shallow, then it may work). The cleaning formula is relatively expensive, but the machine uses a small amount and so it will last a while. I am still using the sample that is included.

I purchased this to make housework easier and caring for stone tile and hard woods are no walk in the park. With two dogs and two cats it is a never ending battle to keep floors clean from dirt tracked indoors and litter dust. I noticed that my hardwood floors had a slight film no matter how much dry mopping, regular mopping and steam mopping I did. Saw this online and decided to give it a shot. After the first use, I noticed the sheen come back to the hardwood. The water in the return tank would convince an onlooker that the floor had never been mopped although I had gone over them 3 times the day before wiry various methods (even hands and knees micro fiber cloth). Ran into a few grody sticky stains in the kitchen. Yes it took a couple of passes but the stains were lifted. Both stone and hardwood appeared 'brightened' after use, The down side of this unit is that brush placement and nozzle direction does not allow it to clean corners effectively so don't toss your scrub brush and mop just yet. The corners and baseboards are the most problematic areas in my home. That and the fact that a 'deluxe' model floor cleaner should have a built in water heating option to keep the water at a higher temperature is lacking brings my rating from 5 to 4. Compared to my mop bucket and swiffer tools however, definitely a 5. I work a lot of hours and the time spent mopping, rinsing and re-rising floors has been cut by 75%. Because the machine self rinses by suctioning up the cleaning water, that is a step I have been able to skip. With this machine, I can go from one room to another and have the house clean in 4 refills. About the same number of water changes for a mop bucket, minus the step of washing the mop head and the floor rinsing step. Turns mopping from all out physical exercise to something more along the lines of running a vacuum.

Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store. We have a 2,000 sq ft house with no carpeting or area rugs, so floor care was a huge chunk of house chore time. Now I can clean every rooms floor, from ceramic tile to vinyl, to in about 35 to 40 minutes. And the fact the machine drys means we can walk on it right away and/or do it just before company comes. Uses very little cleaner so that helps with the cost of that product plus the stuff smells great. I do sweep before use, mostly because we have long hair kitties (3 cats and 1 dog total) and don't want the pet hair to clog the machine. Don't be surprised if you want to use it every few days... Actually makes cleaning fun! Mrs O

We have several hundred square feet of white tile in kitchen, bathrooms, walkways and utility. Using traditional mopping techniques always caused my back to hurt by the time I was finished. And when using Swiffer, I always felt I was leaving dirt on the floor. The FloorMate was easy to put together and the instructions were complete. I've used it multiple times now and, although it takes me a little longer than before, I believe the floor is much cleaner now and my back doesn't hurt when I'm finished. Of course, I'm a little meticulous when using the FloorMate and that may be why it takes me longer. I have not used it yet on our wood flooring since it is laminate flooring and the instructions indicate that the FloorMate might not be suitable for that due to the water being dispensed onto the laminate even though the water won't be on it very long due to the drying feature.

I've used this on our marmoleum floor in the kithcen, and although not exactly recommended, the painted, wide pine floor in the dining room of our farmhouse. I have employees, 2 dogs and family walking through, so these floors take a beating. This is the best product I've tried so far. The floors feel clean when I'm done, which is more than I can say for the many mops I've tried over the years. This machine is kind of noisy, and a little heavy, but it's easy to use; I can be done in half the time it takes with a mop.

I have been searching for a floor scrubber for at least 5 years for my quartzite floors. My goal, find a cleaner that lifts and takes away the dirt. Like slate, each tile has variations in height and therefore, when I mop, dirty water gets left behind and I have to towel dry my floor. That's 1500 sq ft of stone! With the holidays coming I found myself suddenly hosting Thanksgiving. Not with these dirty floors I declared! I spent hours researching floor scrubbers. Not able to spend over a $1,000. for a commercial cleaner at this time, I couldn't believe it when I convinced myself to give the Hoover Floormate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner FH40160 a try. Seriously, this floor has been VERY difficult to get clean. I just went over about 40 sq ft in the kitchen, 5 times with the Hoover. It's still lifting dirt! I empty the dirty water and go over it again, and there is more coming up! I can't believe it! The best part is that the suction is better than ANY cleaner I've rented to clean this floor. Seriously, I spent $400. one day last year on a rental machine that left me feeling less than totally satisfied. For the price, I thought the floors should look spectacular. After spending about $150. on the Hoover today, I left the store today thinking I'd probably be returning this scrubber. I am actually delighted! I'm thinking with weekly use, the rest of the dirt will eventually come up. I can't wait! I'm keeping it!

I gave the FloorMate a four star rating because it doesn't pick up all the dirty water in the grout line. It does clean well on the tiles but the scrub brushes are just a bit too short to do a better job in the grout but I feel with regular use it does beat scrubbing by hand or steam cleaning. It is easy to clean up after use, all the parts come off for cleaning and drying. It has a small profile making it easy to store.

I purchased this hard floor cleaner with hopes of getting grungy grout on my kitchen floor looking cleaner. The unit does not have long enough scrub brush bristles to really clean the grout. I had to get on my hands and knees and pre-scrub the grout, then used the hard floor clear to spray and vacuum up the dirt. I expect that once the grout is clean, then it should stay clean by using this appliance, since the "wet vac" feature keeps dirty water from accumulating on the floor. I am fairly satisfied with the unit. It takes longer to clean the floor than with a wet mop, but it's worth the results! This hard floor cleaner has lots more capability than a steam cleaner. Not recommended for unsealed hardwood floors.

I love this Hoover Floormate deluxe! We have vinyl flooring in the kitchen and baths. We also have four dogs who are kept in the kitchen when we are both out and they can make a mess at times. The floormate does a fantastic job cleaning the floors. It leaves a clean and shiny floor and eliminates all the pet odors. So much lighter than my big carpet machine. This was a great addition to my household!

If you don't like common mops or being on your knees, this is the product for you! I have owned one of the first out and it finally passed. I had to replace it immediately. After you clean your floor with this product - IT IS CLEAN. You can wipe a wet paper towel across your floor and no dirt will show! A must for pet owners.

My sister-in-law has one and highly recommended it but it does take getting used to because, in wash mode, it scrubs going out but sucks up the dirty water when you pull it back. I was going too fast at first like a vacuum cleaner, but you have to go slower and do small sections because it tends to leave a little water near my feet but all that gets sucked up on drying mode. This being said, I am thrilled with the result. Bamboo floors look brand new. They had not been cleaned in years , tried vacuum cleaner and some swifter but it was just spreading the accumulated grime. Now I can use the swifter for upkeep and just break out this bad boy when I need some deeper cleaning.

Works as advertised! Easy soap and water setup. Love seeing the dirty water sucked up into the other tank, knowing it is coming up off the floor instead of just being pushed around. Floor never felt cleaner! And very easy clean up. Just read the directions, then read them again. No problems.

This floor cleaner is amazing! The brush for tile floors does an awesome job cleaning both the tile and grout lines. I could not believe how dirty the water was that was collected in the reservoir. This is very easy to use and light weight. I was so impressed by this floor cleaner that a week later I bought a second one for my mother for Christmas as she has all tile floors as well. Highly recommend - you won't be disappointed!

Does the job. I always felt that mops just move dirt around and are hard to get clean. This one has some improvements over the old one I had and allows you to put the cleaning liquid down and scrub and then suck it up and the brushes do not accumulate a lot of dirt and are easy to clean
