    I did really like it but I’ve only had it for like 5 months and it already isn’t working. The brushes stopped rolling and I cleaned everything and put them back in and I can’t get it to suck up everything g like it use too.

    Within three weeks of purchase it already quit working. The brushes quit rotating. And it has been extremely difficult dealing with Hoover to get fixed.

First check to see that the cleaner is in the upright position. Recline your SmartWash with the pedal and the brush rolls should engage. If not, there may be a belt issue occurring or a clog.     Had this carpet cleaner for a few weeks the front brush already stopped rotating. Not worth it.

    Carpet is almost dry when you are done!

    Have had this for 4 years and still love it. Is it loud? yes. Is it heavy? yes. Does it do a fantastic job cleaning? also yes. It gets the carpet almost completely dry. An hour with a fan and the carpet it good to go. The weight helps it get a good suction. It also comes apart nicely to clean all the parts. The water canister is big enough that I am not stopping to fill it every 5 minutes either. Overall, would 100% recommend.

    Had it one year and a month today and motor started smoking. I only use it monthly on my living room carpet. This is ridiculous and I will not buy Hoover products ever again.

We would like to improve your experience with this unit and are here to help! : Here are some helpful tips to improve the suction: check to see if the filter or nozzle is clogged. Turn off the unit and disconnect the nozzle to remove the debris. Also check the hose for any built up debris, and use the handle of a broom to remove. After checking the hose, please be sure to securely connect the hose to your vacuum. We also recommend checking the filter by removing it from your vacuum and tapping out any built up dirt/debris that could be resting on it. Rinse the filter with water until the water runs clear and allow a dry time of 24-36 hours. – OR – We recommend checking to see if your filter is clogged. Turn off the unit and disconnect the nozzle to remove any debris. While you have the filter removed rinse it with water until the water runs clear, allow dry time (24-36 hours).     I did a decent amount of research and shopped around to find this one on sale. I also bought an extended warranty because the worst reviews of this and other cleaners included malfunctioning/dying after a short time, and my last Hoover died very suddenly - after using it and putting it away ‘til next time. When the next time came it just wouldn’t start. I did the things I usually try when it would stop, including cleaning thoroughly and checking the belts, but it never started again. So I used this one the day it arrived - thankfully also ordered a bottle of cleaner because the one that comes with the machine is really small. The instructions say to rinse the carpet after washing, and it has a dry only function in case the rug is too wet afterward. I thought before starting that I likely wouldn’t rinse, because I’ve never needed to do so before and am not a fan of extra steps. But during washing it was clear that a lot of soap was being left on the rug. So I washed once in each direction, really, really slowly. And then rinsed with straight water the same way. It was incredible how much dirt came up during the rinse. I think that the soap left on the rug is given a bit of time between steps to continue working, and that dirt is then picked up in the rinse. This machine also beats a lot of fuzz out of the (wool) rugs - one of mine I knew was furry, but the other one that I did also kicked up a surprising amount of fuzz - left in the form of giant hairy clumps around the edges of the rugs. The fur would also clog the suction off after every several passes over a rug - which I’d know when the noise it made suddenly went up in pitch. Then you need to remove the cover and remove all of the fuzz from the beater bars and out of the front cover. It’s a pain in the butt, but as an engineer I really can’t imagine a design that could avoid this - aside from maybe putting a screen over the opening itself; and that would create its own issues. I’m concerned that fur may have plugged off the internal parts because the same thing happened just before I finished the last rug today, plus the “wash” and “dry” lights started flashing - so I need to troubleshoot that before using in the rest of my rugs tomorrow. Although it used about 3 tanks of clean water for every one of dirty water vacuumed up, and I expected to have to use the “dry only” mode after rinsing, the rugs didn’t seem to need it: They didn’t feel super wet on the surfaces, and were not wet on the undersides, so I didn’t bother. Again, most of the bad reviews for this machine were due to malfunctioning or completely dying after a short time, and I’ve only used this once; so my opinion could easily change soon; but for a first use I was pleased with its cleaning ability and relative ease of use.

    Works like a pro… I loooove this machine east to use and clean… only complaint is it’s difficult to clean plastic piece on top of rollers. I have had four 4 years works like day I purchased. I’ve never used th attachments so no option there. Worth every penny spent! Use boiling water for best results
