Horns (Acorn) Based on the excellent novel by Joe Hill, this modest translation to film more than likely sailed unnoticed through local theatres and went to disc, even though its star is Daniel Radcliffe. While true to the spirit and intent of the novel, the film does produce a nice blend of anticipation and puzzle, dealing as it does with a protagonist who wakes up, after passing out from a night of a guilt binge-drinking, to discover that he now has a pair of horns on his head: horns which impel anyone seeing them to tell the complete truth. Accused of his fiancee’s murder, Our Guy tries to uncover the truth in the small town on the Pacific Coast. Well Done.

    A movie with strong characters

I bought this movie right when it came out because the trailers made it look really good. Well the trailers didn't lie, this movie had my attention the whole way through. The plot involves a "who done it" murder mystery with the main character's deceased girlfriend. The main character ends up getting horns which causes the people around him to confess their darkest secrets and desires, so he plains on using his horns to find the real killer. The actors in this movie do a really fantastic job in bringing their characters to life. The weakest performance I felt was Heather Graham, which I hate saying because I like the actress, only because it felt like she didn't put a lot into her role, but she only a minor character so it isn't a big deal. The big reveal followed by the cliffhanger was a real tear jerker.

HORNS is a modern horror gem!

HORNS, written by Joe Hiil, is a very original horror story that delves into the nature of sin. Specifically it deals with the old Christian tenet "your sin will find you out" and the consequences of sin revealed. In this regard, the film is very intelligent, moral, and avoids the modern body count type of horror film. Still, using this as a premise, the film by no means is a Bible thumper's delight. HORNS is beautifully paced, photographed and featured awesome special FX. To my regret, I have not up to this point followed the Harry Potter fiims, but I've enjoyed Daniel Radcliffe in all of his post-Potter roles. He is engaging. Certainly an actor to keep your eye on. The presentation of this Blu-Ray disc is excellent!

    A Great Movie

This really was a great film and totally surpassed my expectations. This was purchased as a blind buy and I was hesitant to watch the film as I did not want to wind up with buyer's remourse. This actually tured out to be a great little movie and really does not follow along with any of that "Twilight" type stuff going around right now. It's a love story, a tale of murder, and a mystery; in addition to containing fantasy and elements of humor. It's a great genre mix.

I was very unsure about this movie before I purchased it, but the reviews were so good I was a bit baffled. I picked the movie up 4 times and put it back down before I decided to take a chance, I basically took the chance because in addition to the reviews the price was right. I'm so glad I did. It was quirky, but had a different twist and I never knew what was going to happen next. The acting was good and it was done well.

A very interesting adaptation of the Joe Hill novel, streamlining parts of the book to fit the movie. The film still touches on a lot of the big points from the original text but has enough differences to make it interesting, even if you already know the story. Danial Radcliffe does a great job and the Blu-Ray looks terrific. Recommended for those looking for a mix of whodunnit, horror and dark humor.

I wasn't sure what to expect going in to Horns and I didn't spend a lot of time reading up on it beforehand. Maybe that helped or didn't, but I felt Horns was hilarious. I enjoyed most of the movie and it felt refreshing and unique. Daniel Radcliff's girlfriend is murdered and he is blamed for it. Somehow he starts growing horns and with them he gets powers to influence people which he uses to figure out who really murdered his girlfriend. Horns has a lot of black dark humor and whether it actually follows the plot of the book or not, Radcliff's powers bring out a ton of hilarious moments.

If you are a fan of filmmaker Alex Aja, chances are you will dig this movie. I haven't seen Daniel Radcliffe in anything before since I am not a Harry Potter fan, but he is great in this and Juno Temple as very good as well. It has a little bit of a west coast hipster vibe to it, which I am not crazy about but the rest of the movie is really good.

I have not watched this movie yet, but have been looking for it and luckily found it online for a discounted price at Best Buy. Went to the store and picked it up. Good purchase for a movie, so even if it is just a so-so movie I did not sink a lot of money into a blu-ray movie, which can be pricy.

This was a fairly entertaining movie with a unique twist on the horror/suspense genre. It had some original ideas but ultimately lost momentum about halfway thru with the gimmick of his horns wearing thin. Predictable ending but worth watching if you're in the mood for something different.

This is a good supernatural, murder-mystery. It had a good plot, good acting, good story-telling, good twists, and some nice devilish effects. I didn't know what to expect, but my expectations were met. I wish I could give it 4 and 1/2 stars.

I had forgotten that Daniel Radcliffe had done this movie, and after quite some time noticed it was in the holiday bin, so being a newly found interest, I purchased for my husband as a Christmas gift. This movie has its funny moments, but it also takes a dark twist. This movie not reccommended for anyone under 18. Overall a worthy purchase, and would reccomend for a night of reality crushing nonsense.

Bought this as I'm a fan of the director. Really enjoyed the first 2/3rds of this, great dark humor and cool effects. Then it took a turn to something else, and I need to see it again. Did not care for the ending at all. Worth a rent or good sale price.

I was skeptical that this movie was going to be so far out there that it would be terrible, but it was actually pretty decent. If nothing else at least it was different than everything else out there on the market.

Pleasantly surprised. Expected Horror. More of fantasy/romance with a little dark humor thrown in. Movie helps Danial Radcliffe break out of Harry Potter Stigma.Still a bit much of a hipster feel. Worth a watch.

Daniel Radcliffe once again shows that he has enough gravitas to pull off roles that are very different from when he played Harry Potter. I thought that the pacing was great and that it had an interesting story.

This movie runs the gamut of emotions. It's an odd movie to categorize. The acting is superb, the plot is good and overall if you like horror/comedy movies, you might want to check it out.

Loved the book and was not disappointed with this movie. I was a bit apprehensive about "Harry Potter" staring in a horror movie written by Stephen King's son, but Daniel Radcliffe did a great job!!

This is a pretty fun movie. It's hard to describe other than it is a Tragicomihorredy. It's got a ton of different elements to it with a supernatural twist to everything. Definitely worth a look.
