"House of Wax" is a sort-of remake of "Mystery of the Wax Museum", one of the last two-strip Technicolor films, directed by the great Michael Curtiz. Unfortunately, it falls back on the hackneyed plot of a female reporter involved in a mystery. "House" is vastly superior, especially as it was made before Vincent Price developed his habit of eating the scenery. (Here he's merely burned by it.) The fog-shrouded street scenes are immensely evocative in 3D (amusingly ironic as Andre deToth, the director, was blind in one eye!), and reason enough to see the film. (The sound appears to be mono, the original stereo soundtrack apparently lost.)
Recommended to Price fans (who was, in his early career, a first-rate actor -- see "Dragonwyck"). and an absolute must-have for anyone who collects 3D films.

It's sad that 3d TVs died out and it's getting harder and harder to find media for it. I still enjoy my LG 3d 4k TV, and watching this movie was simply amazing. Sad part of the movie was the colorization. I would have preferred to watch it in original B&W, but still it doesn't get a star taken off from this.
BONUS they kept the intermission content in here too and that is 3D. So if you have never seen this in the movies when it came out this may be the first and only time you'll see the amzing 3d intermissing context.

Ever since we got our 3D T.V., we have been re-experiencing some classic movies in our home in a whole new way. Some classics, such as this one, along with "Dial M for Murder 3D" are so much fun to watch! It makes for a great night in. Even the 3D converted "Wizard of Oz" is so incredible to see! We plan to order ""Kiss Me Kate 3D" when it is released next week! I don't understand why the in-home 3D format hasn't caught on more than it has.

If you have all the 3D equipment and enjoy older movies you should grab this movies. One of Vincent Prices better horror movies. Special features gives history about 3D movies at theaters at that time and WB stereo which makes this movie rare for 1953. Movie can also be viewed 2D and there is also a copy of the original Mystery Of The House Of Wax made in 1933

This is an excellent classic Vincent Price movie. The 3D Blu-ray restoration was well done for a 50+ year old movie. Looked awesome on my 65” Sony Z9D 4K TV. Best Buy had the best price. If you like this movie and want the 3D version I would highly recommend ordering a copy. Would also get The Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D Blu-ray as well. They are in my top ten movies for 3d quality.

There aren't a lot of classics films on Blu-Ray 3D, but between Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dial M for Murder, and House of Wax, we're at least off to a good start. House of Wax easily looks the best of the three, and it doesn't hurt that Vincent Price is the star. Fans of the macabre who enjoy silly 3-D effects coming out of your television are in luck - get it while it's a good price!

this 2nd version of the house of wax is not only a spooky horror flick it is loaded with special 3d effects and great, if not over the top acting by the master of the genre Vincent price. it also has extras and even a full length version of the first house of wax with king Kong's fay Wray. a must see or own for your collection check out the ping pong guy out side the museum. of course your TV and related equipment must be 3d capable to watch the 3d version.

I owned the DVD since it came out in the early 2000's, but upon seeing the remastered 3D version at a theatrical venue last October, I had to get the blu ray. This remastered version of House of Wax looks great for a film over 50 years old. The 3D, as seen in the theater, adds depth to the movie and not just "in your face" gimmicks. Highly recommended.

I had been waiting for the Vincent Price feature House Of Wax to be released on 3D Blu Ray for a long time. I can say it was well worth the wait. Great original story which I have loved since I was a kid. Finally able to be seen as it was in the originally intended in glorious 3D. If you are a fan of the 2D version, then you can't miss viewing / owning this 3D version. Great extras!

Finally got the chance to watch this 3D classic horror film the way it was meant to be seen. This easily ranks up there with the best 3D Blu-Ray discs. Transfer is gorgeous. You can tell a lot of love went into this restoration. Healthy dose of extras are included that delve deeper into the history of the film. Highly recommended if you're a fan of 3D.

A beautiful transfer with a terrific 3D presentation... The sort that seems to escape most of today's movie makers. Having the original " murders in the wax museum" is a nice bonus. If you have had a 3D television for a while then you might already have this in your library. And if you don't, what the heck are you waiting for?

House of Wax is a thrilling film! It is a classic 1950's film that looks just as great in 3d! The director uses the 3d to capture the depth of each scene. Vincent Price made this movie great with his sting from beginning till the end. The films of the 1950's have much better quality than many of the films of today and house of wax 3d is solid proof

One of the original shot in 3D movies I remember seeing at the theatre as a kid with 3D glasses. Great transfer for sharpness and color. The 3D is very good for a fifties movie. It's worth it just to see the paddle and ball scenes out side the wax museum. Some of the best 3D sequences in a movie with the ball coming out to almost hitting you in the head.

While the 3D Blu-ray format may be fading, there are still some great movies to enjoy before its gone. House of Wax is a classic and the first major studio release ever in 3D. Back on the highest tech 3D home format ever, it looks better than ever. Vincent Price is his perfect self as usual. Get it while it lasts.

Excellent early 3D film with the great Vincent Price. Shot with true 3D cameras, and projected using the polarization process (rather than the very much inferior multi-color anaglyph system). Some excellent depth scenes and a couple fun "right at you / out of the screen" effects.
