    My habit when buying a new lens is to immediately put a new UV filter on it, mainly for protection. I thought this one was a bit pricey, but it was the only choice at the time. Hoya is definitely a reputable name, so the quality is good, but i would have settled for something cheaper had an alternate been available.

    got this as my 2nd for lens protection as a backup ,,, waited for a bestbuy sale ... since over time ,, there can always be an accident to scratch it and not the lens lens

    All lenses must be protected with an UV. I've managed to save the actual lens of a previous camera from a total crash because the UV lens took the impact instead.

    Very inexpensive must have tool. It's will worth the investment when you are paying a lot of money on a camera. You will extend the life of your lens.
