We usually buy much more expensive, nano-coated, filters for our expensive Canon L-Series glass. This filter seems to perform well and practically speaking, we can't tell any difference in the ways that we use them. Still, we only put these on our lower-end lenses. At the end of the day, we always avoid cheap filters. This one seems robust enough for our use.

Lens not shatter proof

I placed the Hoya NXT UV lens filter over my camera lens to protect it from damage. My new NikonD3300 DSLR camera and 18-55mm VR lens was placed in a Lowepro Format TLZ 20 camera case with the lens down and the viewing screen up. I accidentally dropped the camera in the case head first from a 3 feet height onto a hardwood floor. When I removed the camera from the case I was surprised to see the UV lens filter shattered and some of the glass had impacted my camera lens. The UV lens did not protect my camera lens as I would have hoped.

This lens filter is enough for me to feel comfortable to bring my camera and lens virtually anywhere. I haven't tested it to it full potential, but any camera shouldn't be put through so much that it would need to be tested to its full potential.

A must have for all lenses you value. I always use at least a UV lenses cap to protect my multi-hundred dollar lenses.

Got the lenses for my daughter for Christmas. She said they were perfect fit and gave protection for lens on her camera. She was very excited and said perfect choice.

This is a good quality UV filter which does not affect the quality of the image taken, as UV filters should not. It was well worth the price paid.

Works great! as a lens protector. This way, the front of my lens is protected from scratches. And, if the UV filter gets scratched, well, it is cheaper than a new lens.
