I purchased this product during the black Friday sale on November 24th, 2016 & I'm so glad I did! It doesn't have the best battery life but for the price it beats getting a chromebook ANY DAY!

Gets the job done. Upgrading difficult/impossible

It'a a pretty slow laptop with 4gb of memory. I had another 4gb to upgrade, but it's impossible to get the back off to access the memory. HP couldn't have made this laptop any more difficult to work on. I work on computers for a living. Been in IT for almost 30 years and have worked on everything from Apple to HP to Dell to NetApp and then some. This is a nightmare. For the price, it's just acceptable. HP could have made this easier but chose not to.

I was pondering whether to purchase this laptop, but I have no regrets. Since I am not a gamer, 4gb of RAM is sufficient for me since I only use it to to browse the Internet and check emails. I took it for a test drive on YouTube website and was surprised at how fast videos download to watch and I really like the screen size as well; 15.6" not bad for the price I paid, which was only $209.00. In addition, the 500 gigabytes of hard drive space comes in handy for storing pictures, documents, and videos, but I recommend to use a flash drive especially if you have a lot of memories you want to preserve just in case something goes awry.

I was looking for an affordable yet good laptop for college, since my other laptop was slow and would freeze every ten minutes. I'm happy to say that I found the perfect laptop to take to college.

    Barely good enough...

I needed an affordable laptop for work. It's meant to do a few things for work only. Nothing else. While it's true that the keyboard is great, the touchpad is terrible. It is the worst part of the laptop in my opinion. You have to click down twice sometimes to get a reaction. It is not great at sensing your fingers. I almost returned it based on just that. Bht I started using a wireless mouse. The battery is another terrible thing. Doesn't last long at all. I had to remove the battery and reinstall it to get it to power up a few times after light use. Luckily I keep it plugged in for the better part of my work day. The built in wifi is glitchy at times, but my work gets some of that blame. It is not slow but won't blow your hair back either. It's fine for what I use it for. The build definitely feels like an economy laptop. But in the end, it gets the job done. Can't ask too much from a sub $300 laptop. If you can't get past a cheaply made laptop, spend more money. Simple. If it's going to be a stationary computer like mine is, it's definitely a better alternative to a chrome book. For the price, it just took some getting used to.

Purchased on Feb 23, 2017 it does everything I need it to do... but battery doesn't stay charged for long have to constantly plug it in to charge.. can tell its cheaply made just by the feel of it and the way the screen and icons look.. good for a beginner laptop for a teen.

I have had my computer replaced twice because the battery dies so quickly. I charge my computer to 100% before I go to bed and once its charged I unplug it and then turn the computer OFF. I wake up the next morning turn my computer on and my battery is down a notch.

I wrote an early review when first purchasing this computer when it was having trouble getting going and glitchy. As of today everything is working wonderfully and the color and clarity are fantastic. I would absolutely purchase this again. Thank you HP for a great product. My HP desktop is the best and longest lasting I have ever owned. Happy to see reviews again also. Thank you Best Buy A happy customer now.

    terrible wifi

    Posted .

Terrible wifi; would be more accurate to say laptop does not support wifi. If you are close enough you can reach out and touch the router/access point, it works, otherwise works for a few minutes then dies, and you must reset the physical card. Uses a realtek wifi card. I tried all drivers on windows, linux (which works fine), hp and realtek websites, none reliable. To add insult to injury, hp bios reportedly prevents installing a better wifi card. I tried opening it up and installing a later version of the realtek wifi card (with bluetooth, which worked) but no joy. We have many other devices with no wifi problems. Frustrating because this is almost certainly a software bug and they just don't care enough to fix it. If you want to downgrade your whole wifi network to "G", that works, but that's slow. Or use wired ethernet. Another dislike is the external HDMI output and the laptop screen are not independently programmable, unlike my other laptops with built-in intel graphics. Otherwise, the laptop is great! HP paid great detail to attention and the CPU is plenty fast. But the laptop is useless for me.
