Just don't really last that long

I thought my new printer which takes five cartridges (photo black, black, red, blue, yellow) would at least longer. But instead, it seems like I have a color issue every other time I try to print a minor graphic. I then waste half the cartridge cleaning the cartridge or doing test pages. For the price, I think I should get much more ink.. The color is otherwise very good.
