The black does last long. You are soon back in the store looking to purchase another. They don't make them like they use to.
Hi NeedNotLook, thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear you are unhappy with the Page yield of your HP 62 2-pack Black/Tri-color Ink Cartridges. Historically printer manufacturers used their own methods for estimating page yield. However, this made it difficult to compare different products. Nowadays, the published page yield is based on the Industry Standard for measuring yields (refer to International Standards Organization ISO 24711). The actual yield varies considerably based on the content of the printed pages, the frequency of printing, the ink used in set-up etc. You may find that you will get more pages when printing in Fastdraftmode. XL size cartridges offer up to 50% lower cost per page compared with standard size cartridges. Our recommendation would be that you leave your printer powered on in normal usage conditions, only power it down if you will not use it for an extended period of time (ie: longer than one month). I bought the ink on Feb 25 and it is already gone by March 4th. It was only used for one project. I am really disappointed

Printing is great with the color of the ink ......
I am sorry to hear that you were sent a cartridge that ran out quickly. If you weren't printing high-density print jobs, there was probably something wrong with the cartridge.
High-density prints will use up a cartridge rapidly, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry. Also, a lot of black is used in just about every page printed.
Using the draft and black only settings on your printer helps with savings on ink. Also, shutting the printer down between uses can help. However, you always have to use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
If you think the poor performance was due to something wrong with the cartridge, you can contact the seller to see about a refund or exchange.

Although I realize you can't print without ink, the price of 2 ink cartridges was more than the price of the new printer
I’m really sorry to know that your cartridge’s yield was not as much as you had expected. Please, let me help you to understand what happened exactly and also how to improve the number of pages available to print.
Please, considers these tips to improve the yield of your cartridge: - High density prints (such as photos, for example) usually use more ink than low-density prints (such as text, for example), especially if the type of paper absorbs more or if the environment is particularly dry. - Using the “draft mode” option when printing can help save ink. - Turn off the printer at intervals when it is not being used, it helps prevent the cartridges from drying out. -You could consider accessing the Instant Ink service, which sends you new cartridges when you need them, with flexible monthly plans for your needs. You can find our official Instant Ink site by searching the web using the keywords “HP Instant Ink.”

I recently purchased the wrong Cartridge number for my HP Office-Jet 4635 All-in-one Wireless Printer.
I selected HP-62 2 Pack Ink Cartridges -Black/tricolor and when I opened the first cartridge (black) I learned it should have been HP-61 instead.
What should I do with the unused cartridges? I no longer have the receipt.
I can't yet make a recommendation until this is resolved.

Good ink if they would put some in the cartridge. Can't hardly print anything without it running out quickly. Also, too bad Best Buy keeps raising the price on it. Especially when I bought the printer and the ink together, I was told if I used my BB card the price would always stay the same. Yet when I went to get ink, I was told they never said such a thing. Right.
