Customers are impressed with the Envy 16" laptop's performance, touch screen, and graphics capabilities, frequently citing its smooth operation and high-quality display. Many also appreciate the ample RAM and storage, along with its build quality and competitive price. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and that the laptop can be heavy and generate noticeable fan noise during intensive use. The device's tendency to heat up is also a recurring concern.

I bought this laptop as a gift for my wife as she was attempting to further her education, but also enjoys gaming. This laptop was both stocked with all the hardware that was needed for a student and a casual gamer that enjoys playing mid to higher level titled games without the fear of the system failing. There is plenty of RAM, SSD space and an amazing graphics card that playing GTA 5, Halo and Warzone look amazing, not much lag except when spotty wifi connections exist, but for the most part it is everything I was looking for and it was ON SALE! The price was great and my only regret was not buying 2 so that I could have one! I ammdefinitely going to be keeping my eye out for another sale so I can try and get myself another score like this HP.

I've used this for programming, photo editing via Lightroom and Nik Collection and playing Fortnite with the grandkids. 16GB is ok for programming but not photo editing or gaming. I upgraded to 64GB memory but 32GB might be fine. This is the first laptop I've ever opened to upgrade. Five screws and some scary prying get you in. The 2 memory slots are under a very thin metal shield held down by lots of tiny spring fingers. Be very careful reinstalling the shield. I also added a second SSD drive in the available and exposed slot. Unfortunately, there is no SSD hold down screw provided in the laptop. I found an unused one in one of my older desktop computers. If all goes well after reassembly, you will have to be patient after hitting the power button as it sits looking dead for a long time before showing anything on the screen on it's first, post upgrade, boot. After that it boots fast as ever. I imagine the battery is fine for lite use like surfing the web or watching a movie or even just programming. However I only get 2 to 3 hours of photo editing time and less than 2 hours of Fortnite play time before searching for a plug to recharge or work with. Recharge time feels pretty good but I don't have specific numbers for that. Keyboard is lighted and is ok but not the greatest. The i/o ports are ok but I wish it had a full size SD memory card slot. Oh, heat. Photo editing, rarely hear the fans. Fortnite... definitely get fan action and if you let your grandson take the controls, the fans scream and the laptop gets pretty warm to the touch! I think I will buy a laptop cooling pad just for gaming.

Laptop can often be bought for less than $1,000 which given the specifications is an absolute steal.
If the laptop will be stationary then it will be a powerhouse of machine. Would not recommend carrying it around as it is almost 6 lbs.
Pros
• Good Specifications
• Runs Quiet (Unless doing intensive tasks like gaming)
• Good Heating (Only time it gets noticeably hot is during gaming, otherwise it stays cool during everyday tasks or creating projects).
• Snappy, Quick Refresh Rate
• Nice Screen
• Solid Build, Little Flex
Cons
• Bulky
• Heavy

I like most things about the computer. I do not like the pad vs. a pad with buttons. Its way slower to do a two finger tap than have buttons for copy paste, drag drop ect...not an improvement. The computer is not fast with stock settings. Trying to open pictures that are on the computer, but are from an iphone...incredibly slow. Im going to upgrade from the pathetic 16gig RAM thats in it to the max 64 and hopefully that increases the speeds without destroying the battery. Windows 11 isnt as nice as 10.

The most economically priced Intel i9 out there. Graphics RTX4060 is so great. I even increased the memory to 64GB and added another 1TB SSD.

Laptop was a great deal for the sale price. Wonderful features and great bang for the buck. Not many laptops this powerful are available with a touch screen. Gamer power with professional looking design.
Problem is when it comes to cooling. Fans run and are kind of loud. Impossible to use on your lap as you will block the vents. Hp should have encorporated better side venting.
I never got close to full 10 hours using it for strictly office work, but i will get about 6 or 7.
I would purchase again, but only for sale price.

Long time HP user - still have a Spectre from 2017 but battery is finally giving up..
This Envy 16" is a Great upgrade to new HP Except:
- Power plug is different from the standard connections!!
- Keyboard is larger but better for older eyes!
- Connection to WIFI is less reliable than old Spectre - hope I don't have to upgrade WIFI?
- Bit heavier but screen is larger so worth it!? unless you travel a lot.
- Hate McAfee - still trying to delete it..
- Transition to WIN11 okay - but get ready to spend time deleting lots of tracking settings and bundled junk
Otherwise -Great deal on Black Friday - Saved lots $$!

Got this at a steal during "Black Friday in July". Spent the savings on 64GB RAM and a 2TB M.2 SSD for my Steam library. Baldur's Gate 3 and Diablo 4 run smooth. Also, the monitor is beautiful and bright - I actually think it could duke it out with a Mac monitor, Mac might win in paper specs, but it would be a close call to the naked eye. Now for those looking at the battery (Mac would thump this thing as far as battery is concerned)... If you want to do anything but browse/office, you pretty much need to plug it with the power brick. For me, I wanted a versatile laptop to bring on work trips. Just enough battery for a PowerPoint presentation during the day and the ability to plug it in and game back at the hotel later. 100% the right choice for me. For long work days I bring along my USB charger, but no power brick unless I'm gaming or doing AI stuff. Now when I travel I only need to bring 1 laptop on the plane (used to be an office ultra book and a gaming laptop) and I can leave the power brick at the hotel. I use this for office stuff, gaming, game development, local AI inferencing, development with docker/K8s, and streaming movies/TV. So I pretty much throw everything at it. If you are as much as a power user as me, the only thing you might be limited by is the 8GB of VRAM on the 4060, but you probably know just how pricey it is to get decent VRAM in a laptop too.

I purchased this laptop to replace a 2 year old ASUS VivoBook with a 10th gen i5 and no dedicated GPU. After several days of shopping and comparing deals I determined that purchasing this particular model from Best Buy was the best deal. After a few weeks of usage I can confidently say that I'm satisfied with my choice. The i9-13900h and RTX 4060 are capable of running whatever programs and games I throw at it with ease. I have gotten a handful of modern games to run smoothly at full resolution and high to ultra settings. It's not marketed as a gaming laptop but can definitely be used as such. A couple of things to note if you are looking to buy this for similar use - this processor runs hot under heavy load like gaming. You will want to invest in a cooling pad. I bought a Targus cooling pad from BB at a low price. Battery life is quite good when just browsing the web or doing basic tasks - I would estimate around 8 to 10 hours with this type of use. However when gaming I've drained the battery in as little as 1.5 hours. You will want to keep that charger nearby. Overall very satisfied, lots of bang for your buck.

Pros:
Very large great quality screen.
Very fast i9 processor with a more than capable GPU (GeForce RTX 4060) for gaming.
Great SSD storage capacity for a Laptop.
Decent screen quality and size (2560 x 1600 resolution, 16in screen size.)
Cons:
Becomes very hot when using high usage applications.
More (regular) USB ports would've been nice.
Very cheap keyboard makes for a unsatisfactory typing experience.
Windows 11 is a bit of a adjustment for people coming straight from Windows 10
Not the best choice for people who want a more portable option.

The specs of this laptop is top of the line, and the RTX 4060 is icing on the cake! This makes the laptop excellent choice to train complex networks for deep learning, although older gpus can do the task. I played few games on it at extreme settings, and it performed without glitch, but some extra noise from the fans which is understandable.
The keyboard could have been better, but that's not a big issue for me.
It is also upgradeable, which allows to change ram to say 32 or 64 GB, and an extra slot for pciem2 ssd,

I'm a software developer working in AI and heavy containerization. And enjoying some games during my downtime. This handles both excellently. 16 GB is good but also upgradeable, the 14 cores of the Intel i9, and RTX 4060 are incredibly fast. The screen is plenty bright (though moderately less than my MacBook M1 Pro) but crystal clear with high DPI. Battery life is less than a third of what I get from my MacBook doing similar work.

Overall a very good laptop for the price. From what I have experienced in the past 2 months I can list the :
Pros-
1) very responsive touchscreen, feels great to use.
2) It is lighter than expected, For the specs and price point I expected it to be heavy as a brick.
3) premium finish. The finishing and bezels on the screen looks amazing.
Cons -
1) Battery life is average. I have to carry a charger around if I have to use the laptop over 3 hours.
2) Backlit keyboard is kind of useless and it doesn’t form a great contrast.
3) I have some hanging of the screen once in a while.
Overall a good buy.

This is a near perfect laptop. Big i9 processor, nice 2k screen. Also is the nice standard 16 inch large screen that we like. It's user upgradable ram and ssd. Nice trackpad and keyboard and don't forget that 4060 gpu that games and handles professional apps with a breeze. Also will give you 9 to 11 hours of light usage. This is a very nice laptop for the price I would buy it again.

I have been very happy with my new laptop. It’s very fast, has lots of storage and is a sleek design. Though it’s 16” the screen seemed larger as the sides are thinner than my old laptop .

I really love this laptop. I use it for school and entertainment. You can play a lot of games off it with good graphics. I’m thinking about upgrading to 32gb of ram to play larger games, and multitasking. Only downside that I can think of is that you get a few hours before needing to charge.
