Junk
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seriously poorly designed. The edges would catch on everything. So big I had to order a back pack that would fit it.

Laptop comptuer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The motherboard destroyed itself 30 days in using. Traded it in for the MSI. It was light weight but awkward to use with very few inputs

Great replacement for an eight year old laptop.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 8 years my 17" HP laptop passed on. I got really used to the larger screen and went with the same size. It came down to a $500 HP machine or 1K HP. After two weeks I'm glad I went with this $1,050 laptop. Best Buy had a sale this week for $150 off on this machine, so back I went to reduce the cost to $900. This baby is really fast, crazy amount of features and the screen resolution is just excellent. Don't be concerned about going from Window 7 to 10, it's no big deal.

Great specs for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After shopping around for a desktop replacement, I decided to jump on this one. It was on sale (10/29) for $899 and had everything I was looking for. One of the most shocking things about it is the fact that it still has a DVD drive! I brought it home and played around with it a bit and noticed it was being sluggish. I checked the task manager and saw that the HDD was consistently at 100% load capacity for reads/writes. The typical bloatware that comes with new laptops was really straining the poor HDD. To make things simple and give the laptop a fresh start I downloaded the Win10 boot program from Microsoft and reformatted the laptop within an hour. Now it's great! No more 100% R/W and it works like I expected any new laptop would. I tested it out with Sims 3 on maximum settings and it runs with no issues. Granted that's a 6 year old game but I imagine this is a good mid-range modern gaming laptop. Played for 3 hours (charging) and it kept cool. Very quite fans, too! Pros: -Huge screen (17.3") -Plenty of RAM (16GB) -7th Gen i7 -Nvidia GPU with 2GB of VRAM -Full backlit keyboard with 10 key -Internal DVD drive -Plenty of ports for peripherals Cons: -Battery life (around 3 hours to a charge) -Heavy -7200RPM HDD is a severe bottleneck to the system (Plan to upgrade to SSD to solve this issue)

Best Laptop Ever!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First I want to say that I read some reviews that weren't so good and it was mostly due to no keyboard lighting, yes there is!!! It is located on the keyboard top row of buttons 5th one over from the esc button right before the volume button!!! I didn't think to read the reviews before I walked into the local store but thank goodness the girl that helped me said this is the best one at this time! I took her word for it and bought it on the spot, once home I looked at the reviews and saw they were all pretty much great!!! I can tell you from experience of using it for over a month now that this is the best laptop I have ever had!!!!! I do normal Mom stuff on it like deal with my pictures, music, make address labels and things like that and wow this computer goes above and beyond!!! Also I purchased some games for it since it is a gaming computer (which I was wanting), I got Black Ops 3 Call Of Duty and Dying Light and I gotta say I'm blown away!!!!!I have no lagging or anything while I play. It is so good that my kids want to play on mine instead of their Xbox ones!! But I wont let them lol. I would very highly recommend this laptop to everyone!!!

Excellent Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Screen is excellent, just a little glare in certain light that all touchscreens seem to have. Picture bright and sharp, great colors, videos look fantastic. Very good sound, much better than the last Envy I purchased (volume when playing movies or streaming video can be heard easily without turning the system volume all the way up.) I usually leave the system volume set on 70% and use the applications volume to adjust playback up or down. Volume and sound quality through headphones is fantastic. Have not tried external speakers yet. One thing I found out and did not know until I received the laptop (ordered online from Best Buy) was that it does not have a removable battery. Seems a lot of systems are being made that way. Would have liked to have it removable in case it needed to be replaced. Should not be a problem, though, not worried as in the last 10 years that I have had several laptops, only had one have a battery go bad. I would imagine that if there was a way to install one in the first place, there would be a way for a tech to install a replacement. They have to remove the cover to install replacements for hard drives, memory, etc., so I would think there would have to be access for a battery.

Great computer but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this as a surprise gift from my husband. All in all, it's a good computer but, the speakers are awful. If you like to play music from your PC while you work, and the sound is important, you might want to try another PC. From what I have read, B&O may have supplied just the software but not the speakers. These sound like cheap speakers. If you try to use the equalizer and you have external speakers plugged in, the equalizer is not going to work. I unplugged the speakers, changed the equalizer settings and the sound was the same. I am using my old pc for music which is about 4 years old, not HP, and the sound is fantastic. Very disappointed in sound considering the cost!

Weak
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything about this laptop at first appears great. It's fast, the sound is phenomenal, it's easy to use. I got a backpack big enough to not only hold my laptop, but to keep the padding from the original box. I wanted to be absolutely certain nothing would even come close to scratching this computer. I put the padding in and then slip the laptop snugly in, just like the way it was originally boxed. And already, despite the absolute care I've taken to safeguard the laptop, the touchscreen is already cracked. What sort of weak construction went into this? Now my selection tool is skipping all over the place. Plus my mouse pad catches and gets locked up which was a minor annoyance I was willing to live with. Taking this back tomorrow. Maybe it's just a faulty one time thing, but highly annoying, especially with the money spent.

Battery Life is Very Disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You'll be lucky to get 2-1/2 hours of battery life just browsing the web and reading email. Buy an extra charger.

2 NEW HP Envy Notebooks: Parts coming off
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought a HP ENVY-M7 (17" Touchscreen) less than a year ago. The laptop was used normally and no drops occurred but all of a sudden the screw holding the screen came off and the screen was detached. We brought it to Geek Squad and they sent it to HP for repair. Since it will be repaired for at least 7-9 days, we bought a new HP Envy with the same model. Less than a month after, while the laptop is used on a desk, and never brought for travelling, the NP2 key on the right of the keyboard came off. HP refused to send a replacement key and wanted to have the computer shipped to them. That means no computer, no work, no revenue during the high peak tax season! Such an inconvenience for a NEW COMPUTER! To resolve this issue, I just bought a replacement key online for $10, hassle-free. Never will our business buy HP products as the newer models' parts will just come off and popped out for no reason at all. Gone are the days when HP made products you can travel with around the globe and use it for 6 years.

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just spent nearly $1000 on the laptop and when I tried using my passport backup drive to load my files, the laptop does not have enough power in the USB ports. Now I have to purchase an external powered USB hub. This is inconvenient and frustrating. I live more than 30 miles from town.

Don't use for Solidworks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely unhappy with this computer. I bought it to use it for a CAD program called solidworks. I was told in store that this "premium" computer would run the program perfectly fine and I believed it because my 7 year old laptop ran the program perfectly fine. I go to use this new computer with solidworks and it runs horribly! To the point where it is so slow that it is unusable with often crashes. I contact geek squad and they can not tell me why this is happening. I talk to some knowledgeable friends and they say that it is because the graphics card is not good enough. My 7 year old laptop ran this program fine! I then see if I can upgrade the graphics card and they tell me that it is integrated and that there is no way to upgrade it so now I have a "premium" laptop that performs worse than a 7 year old laptop. Unbelievable waste of money! I have contacted customer service to complain and had gotten nowhere.
