    Was mislead about operation.

I recently bought a new laptop & needed a new printer for it as well. I really liked the Envy 4500 for the price, as well as the HP name, as my old printer is also an HP. But my internet hookup is by a coaxial cable-not wireless, & therin lies the problem. After checking, I was assured by the salesman that I wouldn't have to worry about not having a wireless set-up in my apartment. Well I did. I tried every conceivable thing I could think of to try to get this printer to work, but no luck. If you have a wireless network where you live, there probably wouldn't be any problem, but if you have the set-up I do-don't get wireless. It won't work. I don't think my salesman was DELIBERATELY trying to deceive me, but simply thought it would work. Fortunately, I was able to download the updated software for my old printer, so I at least have one.

    Not Totally Windows 8 compatible......Beware

The product claims to be Windows 8 compatible. The EPrint works great if that's all you want. Unfortunately, the printer will not print from the computer direct so that you can print from individual software packages. It will not let you select preferences in the EPrint mode such as landscape or print quality of any kind. After looking at reviews from over 208 people that claimed it did not work with Windows 8, I had to return the product. If all you want to do is print EPrint than this product will work for you.

    Very problematic

It will work just fine one time and then the next time it will not scan and/or print. I have one at home and I have one at work. Both are problematic. The one at work will print but will not scan. The one at home will scan but now it does not print. The both printers will have an error message that it cannot communicate with the computer just after it prints. The printing and scanning process is also very slow (when it does work)

I have been trying to configure multiple Windows 8.1 laptops, and it does not print, only scans. Yes, it works perfectly with iPhone but not with Windows PCs. I must confess I have not tried the CD included, but my laptops does not have CD drive and to be honest, I think CDs are something from last century. Search for "Windows 8" and "HP ENVY 4500" for more information about this issue.

    Piece of Junk

Printer did not print properly right from the start. Did not print black ink and only printed partial color. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers with no affect. Even tried printing from a different laptop. Tech support was worthless. I will never buy another HP printer.

Often won't print more than two pages at a time

In the last two months, my son has had to reinstall the driver about once a week. The printer stops printing during the third page of any size document.

Since we put this network on our wireless network, it has screwed up all my other devices. We had to completely set an I phone 5 to factory settings in order to fix the issues caused by this ridiculous wireless monster. Next we have to reset an Ipad. It used to Scan ... that feature stopped working.

Worst printer I ever spent my money on!

I think it's a piece of junk, hooking up to XP a was horror! It took 3 different phone calls to HP support and 31/2 hours on the phone to almost getting it to work. The directions on hooking it up are minimal you have to spend another 11/2 finding out how to correct the problems on your own. It's the slowest printer I ever had and sounds like a truck starting when turning it on and it doesn't turn automatically. Don't waste you money.

I've had to return this product once, and now the second what they've given me does not function. First one had problem with jamming, the second one decides it doesn't want to power on. I am frustrated out of my mind. I don't think I'll be purchasing any of the printers from Best Buy ever again.
