    I Hate It!

I like this printer except for one thing, which makes me hate it! The problem I have with it is there is a huge gap between the scanner glass, and the plastic around it where you line up the sheet to scan. This is very frustrating because whenever I scan or copy something, it comes out crooked and wastes paper and $50 ink!! I can actually fit 6 sheets of HP's own MultiPurpose Paper, or even a credit card in there the gap is so big! I must have spent an hour and a half trying to explain this to the HP tech person, and he just would not understand!! I sent him a pic of 6 sheets of paper stuck under the plastic "alignment" edge all fanned out so you could count the sheets. His response was, "is that how you try to scan?"! I then sent him a pic of a credit card stuck under the alignment edge. His response was something like "go ahead and try to make a scan"! WTF, he didn't have a clue what I was talking about, even after sending him pics!! I am 57 years old and retired. I have owned many printer/scanners, and have used Many More at work. I have Never seen one with a gap between the glass, and the alignment edge, especially big enough to fit 6 sheets of paper, or a credit card!! This is a problem for me! Update 12/30/16: This has nothing to do with the printer itself, just what happens if you get a bad one. It is now 4 months old and driving me crazy! 8 more months of warranty left, but tonight I got fed up and decided to try again to contact them. This time I called, jumped thru numerous hoops in their menu that just about made me give up! Finally get a real person, and she already knew who I was, so obviously she had my #! I try to explain the problem, and once again it appears she is not getting it!! Then we get disconnected! She knows I am already frustrated, but do you think she would call me back?! So I try another route. I fill out all the contact info thinking I will be able to send an email, but all it did was give me a case #, and a number to call. I try again, and same frustrating menu and finally get someone again. BTW, I don't believe that any of the three contacts were in the US! Anyhow, I told her I got disconnected last time, and asked if she had my # to call me back if this happens again. She said yes, and she will! Guess what, get disconnected yet again, and yet gain, no call back!!! WTF?! So much for a warranty if you can’t explain it in chat, can't send an email, and can't talk to anyone on the phone that will understand before you get disconnected!!

    Connection is cr*p

I have had a HP all in one printer before that lasted for 4 years until we moved, probably would have lasted longer. So, since i am in school full time virtually it is extremely important that I have an all in one printer. This one was on sale and did the minimal that i needed. BUT, It continuously wont connect to my home network. Like ALLL the TIME! Every day and multiple times a day i will have to shut it off, or shut off the wifi connection, and restart the whole thing just to get it to connect to the network. My computer and iPad says it is not connected and that is accurate, but at the same time the printer says it IS connected. Which is completely wrong. Recently it would not scan because it said it wasn't connected to a computer, BUT it would not let me try and connect to email after this. I shut it down three times and completely unplugged it for 10 minutes and it still would not give me another option or even try to connect again. HOW FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!! This printer has literally made the most simply task take 50 times longer then it should. I had to take pictures and upload them to submit to my instructor instead of scans because of this piece of cr*p. What a fr**king joke. And no it is not my network because no other device EVER has an issue. Had to add stars because they think those are "bad" words, when i'm sure you know i'm actually saying much worse!

Bought it alongside my new 'expensive' HP Spectre 2 in 1 laptop several weeks ago. Since the first set up, there have been issues with being off line, despite being on line with the blue wireless light on, and every time I need to print I restart my laptop so that they talk to each other! Nowadays it has developed another defect, it gives error in mid document and stops printing half page then restarts again and does that once more on a different page and restarts printing again. The disruption this printer has caused me, despite printing only few pages a day, is unbelievable. On the good side, it makes me think twice (in fact thrice!) before printing something so good for environment. I stopped printing completely and take my notes on the screen, however inefficient that may be...

I set up this printer with a min. of effort. However it kept loosing the wifi connection. I had to re-enter the wifi details to get it to recognize my laptop. This happened 3 times. The next problem was the drawer for the paper. It would not close all the way. I had to stand the printer on the back and pull it out and re place it, before it would go all the way back. Every time I had to replace paper, the draw would remain open. The printer just says, "Please close the paper drawer". I have tried to open and close it a number of times. It just won't clear this message and let me print. The last time I tried The tab on the back broke off. I GIVE UP. I have up-graded my printers over the years. This is the first time I have ever had a problem like this. I think HP is trying to compete in this price range and they just can't build a really good product. I see that other people love this printer, I'm sorry but I've owned and used a number of HP products and never had a problem like this. No I didn't force the drawer, it just never worked from the start. Yes I agree, I should have returned it from the start, however I bought it because I needed it right away.

I have always liked and purchased HP products, and so I was saddened that I have to give this printer a negative review. Right out of the box I had problems with the setup of the printer. The ink cartridges did not fit correctly, and I had to call technical support. After spending almost an hour on the phone, HP agreed to send a new black cartridge after determining that the one we had was defective... or so we thought. They were supposed to overnight the new cartridge, but in fact the new ink cartridge came 3 days later. This one also did not go in easily, but finally did snap in. After what took almost another hour to setup, the firmware in the printer would not complete and displayed a dialog asking me to purchased an updated driver in order to complete installation. At that point, I packed up the printer and returned everything back to the store. To Best Buy's credit, I had no issues returning the printer and was given a full refund as advertised. I have since purchased the Epson Workforce WF-2630 from Best Buy and I am pleased with my purchased. You should consider this printer instead.

    1. Wireless printing will only work from my phone. It will not recognize any other tablet or computer I own 2. It prints painfully slowly. My second use was a seven page basic black and white document. It took one and a half to two minutes per page to print. And I really think I'm being overly fair with those times. I think it took longer but I didn't time it. I just know I had time to clean my bathroom and be done before the print finished. 3. On its third use it quit printing accurately. It just prints disjointed lines. Both color and black ink are at least half full but it won't print. I can't get it to work. None of these problems existed the first time I used it. Everything worked as expected. Now four months and three uses later it's getting tossed in the garbage.

I have enjoyed quite a few HP printers and products. HP is the brand I have come to rely on. The HP Envy 4520 had errors from the get go. Seems it wants to disconnect wirelessly from my laptop. Seems to me if the blue light is on and the laptop is trying to talk to it, it should work. I called customer support and they were fantastic, HOWEVER the solution to the problem is to disconnect the router (which is downstairs)and let it reboot. I found I just leave the printer off and that seemed to help when I wanted to print something. I have an HP Laptop. So as far as when it prints it works nicely. As a replacement for my other HP printer I owned, this is a BIG disappointment. Perhaps when the solution is downloaded, my disappointment will fade.

All I have to say is look at the reviews of this printer not just here but on other online sites this printer is sold. The one thing you will find is all the low rated stars are from people who have software/firmware issues. I have to admit as one who always looks at reviews before I buy I thought being the overall rating was 4 stars I'd figure I'd roll the dice and buy it. Well let's just say I rolled CRAPS! I have all the issues from not staying connected to network to not waking out of sleep mode. Then there is the load paper tray issue you get even if there is plenty of paper in tray. Then it locking up on the load paper screen and not wanting to refresh. Like I say it's a roll of the dice. So if you're a gambler then go for it. If not it's not worth the risk.

The printing capabilities are just okay because often the ink smears as it's printing. Also, it runs through ink quickly, and the ink is expensive. The scanner is perhaps the worst part of the system. Each time I've used it I've had to go through way too much to get it to work. First of all, it cannot see my computer in scan mode but it can print over wifi from my computer. The last time I needed to scan I scanned 7 pages. It took 5 hours, and many restarts of my computer. That's just lame. It was important to do so I kept at it. Started at 5 and finally finished at 10 - with a couple breaks in between. Each time I took a break, it was like starting all over again. Same issue. Not recognizing my computer. Restart. And more. Absolutely, no fun.

    I HATE THIS PRINTER

This is my problem with the printer besides the fact that sometimes it sounds like it's going to break while printing. The quality of the prints is fine but I am spending WAY TOO MUCH MONEY on ink. This printer runs through ink like crazy. The fact that there is one ink cartridge for all the colors is such a waste.... say it's low on yellow, but blue and fuschia are full, you have to replace it all. Maybe if you don't use this for color prints the way I do this is not a problem but it would be cheaper for me to throw out this printer and just buy a new one which I'm probably going to do. I'm surprised I didn't read about this in other reviews.

Purchased January 2018. Had multiple issues with connectivity then not printing at all wasting ink cartridges thinking that maybe the black had dried up with little use. HP support helped get wireless back online but then (after 1 yr warranty expired) it stopped printing at all. Sounds like it is and shoots out the appropriate # of pages but no print. Black or color. Did all the uninstalling and reloading recommended off the support document but no luck. Stuck with new expensive ink that I cannot use or return.

Purchased this printer to replace a very old ink jet printer that was bulky. The size was great and the copy quality was good, but every time I need to print is an effort in futility. The wireless connection is constantly dropping so I end up resetting the router and printer EVERY TIME. HP seems more interested is making me subscribe to some weird online printer resource where I need to pay monthly fees than providing a reliable product. Need to check the receipt and return this headache while I still can.

I was very happy to receive the product but it came out a disaster. I printed a photo in the beginning,it was great. Then I keep printing but all of them are a mess, I touched the photos it still wet with the black oil..... I did more than 10 photos, only the 1st/9th were good. I guess you have to be lucky to get a good one, and the percentage is 20%....

Purchased this last night for $69.99 with extra ink. You get what you pay for. Couldn't get this to work, kept saying the the supplied ink cartridges weren't compatible and wouldn't let me go any further. Even tried replacing the ink with new , same thing. Went thru all the steps and documentation and kept getting error codes. I'm taking this junk back to the Store for a refund and I'm gonna purchase a Cannon printer. I spend 1.5 hours on this which says easy set up. The mechanicals that hold the cartridges in place are cheap and flimsy. Stay away from a bargain printer.

Don't waste your time trying to get this printer to work. It keeps losing its settings. I spent a total of 3 days trying to get it to print reliably. No luck. I packed it up, returned it to Best Buy and went back to my old printer which works great. I only bought the new printer for the wireless capability and scanning. HP used to be a decent brand, but that was many, many years ago. Best Buy is an awesome company. I shop there all the time. This product review is only for the HP printer. Best Buy is AWESOME!!!

This printer went through an entire #63 ink cartridge printing ~50 pages of online return forms for Amazon from Android app for Samsung phone. App wouldn't let me just print page w/return label, so printed pages heavy with black ink/web info. Don't know if problem was w/HP ePrint app or printer, but there's no way I should have used an entire cartridge of ink on less than 50pp. of printing. Returning printer to buy one with better ink economy.

This printer is AWFUL! It refuses to print off my MacBook. Most times Ive tried it gives me an error screen and the others it reformats entire documents to different font sizes! I would have thrown this piece of junk out except for my mom seems to have no issues with it off her very cheap no frills laptop. My last complaint is that I cannot print things on various sized paper. Not even from my moms computer. So all of the cute custom invitations and cards that I use to print myself are no more.... Have I mentioned my hate for this thing?

I would not use anything HP, literally, if they were giving it away for free. HP has integrated their printers with the internet to the point of really intruding on your privacy. They control your ink usage where if you don't use it often enough they'll stop you from printing and require you buy more because your current cartridge is out of date. The fact that they do this makes me question every product they offer. My advice is to stay away from everything HP. If they do this with printers, imagine what they do to computers.

The 4520 printer was only about a month old and wouldn’t respond to the print command. Several attempts to reload the software repeatedly failed. Then a message appeared and stated the device had a fault. I went to Best Buy and asked them to exchange it for a new one. They Said it was not their policy to do that. No printer should fail in a month. I was referred to an 877 number but got no satisfaction. I have now purchased an Epson. I have used HP printers for years, but no more.

Bought this printer for around $60. Although advertised as wireless, it would not find or connect with my wireless network. Called customer support, spent an hour with someone from India I could barely understand. He then transferred me to his "supervisor" who told me He could do a "workaround" for $99. When I explained in colorful terms that was more than I paid for the printer, he hung up! Worst customer service ever. Would not touch another HP product with a fifty-foot pole.
