Wish I had not bought this computer

I am beyond my window of an easy return so I am stuck with this computer. The software is very buggy and there is a lot of lag, even as I type right now. I will be purchasing a fresh copy of Windows 10 just to clean install and remove anything HP related. I did not like the keyboard and mouse. The keyboard was too small and arch on the mouse was too high. Oh, having to run out to buy a VGA adapter because this computer only accepted an HDMI plug was not fun. And lastly, this computer does not prompt you to make backup DVDs. While attempting to repair an older model HP, I realized I did not have any back up for the new computer. When I tried to make a back up, it said the back up partition was already gone. When I called HP to have them send me a back up disc, I was told I had corrupted the partition by inserting a flash drive into the D drive and it wold cost $43 to get a back up disc. I have since removed the "suspect and offending" flash drive and inserted a blank flash drive and created a backup. Too bad the "trained" HP techs could not offer me that same solution. I would not recommend this computer. I might have gotten it at a good price, but I had to purchase the adapter, I cannot use the mouse and keyboard and now I am buying a clean copy of Windows 10. I would say I could have spent more in the first place and gotten better. To say the least, this is my last HP computer.

i love everything about this computer. I would of gave 5 stars, but they didn't say anything about needing a new monitor with hdmi which is kinda disappointed cuz I can't use my old monitor. I wasn't planning to spend another $200 on a new monitor with hdmi connector (I did ended up with a new monitor). all all I'm very satisfied.

    Ikea making computers now??

    Posted .

Very bad experience with this computer. First, instructions were just pictures like IKEA furniture so I could not really see what wireless plug in looked like. Eventually, found piece in hidden place where mouse was in. This caused initial headache which I can admit was mostly my fault for not checking for all pieces. Was able to get booted up and set up personal info etc and so far so good but when I tried to use DVD to put software in it was downhill from there. BIOS error, system tried to reboot, read one DVD but after that would not recognize anything. Kept having to reboot. Finally got fed up and boxed it up. Taking back today. Guess the price was a big alert. I did research and it got high ratings with consumer reports and here as well so I assume I got one of the lemons as the other one star people. Don't really want to play find the good one roulette so will try another brand.

HP tower is excellent, quiet, durable and beautiful with the brushed metal on the outside of the Tower. I highly recommend this Tower that comes with a Keyboard and mouse. It does not have a Monitor. I purchased my Tower at a sale price but would have paid regular price for the PC if I had to.It's that GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Very very pleased with my purchase. It has a lot of functions that fit all my needs and then some

    First Bad Experience with HP

    Posted .

I turned away from PC's and went to Mac's a few years ago, but needed a computer for my office and wanted to get a PC with Windows 10, so I turned to the brand I trusted when I purchased PC's. When I was trying to set this computer up at my office I spent too much time trying to get the hard drive to communicate with the keyboard and mouse to find out it was not shipped with a dongle. I took it back thinking it was just a onetime deal and the second one had the dongle, but still could not get the keyboard to work. If HP took away the wireless keyboard and mouse this might have been a good hard drive, but I lost confidence in this one and went with another name brand computer which worked great out of the box. In my opinion, the factory needs to do better quality control before they send these units out.

    Good computer

But wireless mouse and keyboard are next to useless. The computer itself is good for business and light gaming. But the mouse and keyboard must be very close to the PC to function. I have a USB mouse that works fine, a USB keyboard with a USB hub for the mouse is in my future. The sound and graphics are good enough, but if you want to install a graphics card the 300 watt power supply will need to be replaced. I mostly use this for forms and spread sheets and it does these tasks without a hitch. It connects to the Internet quickly, and music playback works on flac recordings, no additional programs needed. The wireless mouse and keyboard are frustrating and should not be offered. They are also very flimsy and cheap.

    Very Disappointed!

I usually buy a new computer for home or the office every year. I have never been so disappointed with a computer purchase as I am with this product. Last month, when I walked into my local BustBuy, I asked the sales assistant for the most powerful computer he had in stock. He led me to the HP Envy 750-114. (Wow! If this is their best, I don't want to know what the other products are like.) The computer is extremely slow, the right click of the mouse rarely works, the Bluetooth will not transmit music from Pandora Radio without skips every 10 seconds. I would love to return it, but I have downloaded too many programs that I need for work - which is accomplished at a MUCH slower pace on this product.

Expensive for what you get. TERRIBLE front ports

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Whenever I see something like the placement of the front ports on this machine, I realize that designed have no idea how users ACUTALLY use their product. The whole reason why computers started offering USB and aux ports on the front about 15 years ago is because people tend to put their desktop towers in places that are inaccessible. In the corner, next to their desk. Or UNDER their desk. So it is not easy to insert stuff in the back of the case. So what did HP do with this? They undid a decade and a half of intelligence by moving those front ports to the top and making them face BACKWARDS. Think of people who put their computers under desks. They have to duck their heads under the desk, crawl in far enough to get past the front "ledge" and then, hopefully it is light enough under here to see where the ports are. That is progress to HP. That alone is reason enough to avoid his computer. The price compared to what you get is another. There are simply much better computers that often go on sale for up to $100 less. IF you are lucky, maybe even more. You are always going to overpay for Intel, but this is ridiculous.

    Horrible Intel Graphics

It has a integrated Intel (R) HD Graphics 530. From day one ( 10/22/2015 ) games and websites would freeze up and all HP support could do was have me buy a recovery disk set . It is now 02/10/2016 and still having the same problem . Buyer beware !

    Marvelous computer

I bought an i5 version and added a 750 GB SSD after the fact. This computer is marvelous. Quick, beautiful physically and with a good monitor displays nicely. It was very impressive to see the keyboard and mouse run off of the bluetooth / wireless USB right out of the box. No problems with this at all.

    Read reviews before buying.

I have never written a review of a product before but the high investment in the Hp 750-114 makes me want to caution others before they buy this pc. First, it would not play a dvd or cd. After about an hour on the phone with support a program was downloaded to fix this. The first day of home use it started freezing and the only fix was to turn it off and restart. When the pc was turned on in the morning and every morning since, all icons on the start screen are gone and you can't proceed from this point until you restart the pc. The pc restarts by it's self at random while in use. This morning was the final straw. The pc would not turn on at all even with the on button lit up. After disconnecting the power cord several times the pc finally came to life. I though the bad reviews may be from mis-use or mistakes in setup . I wish I had believed them. All my information and several hours may be gone. This computer goes back today.

New computer has worked fine in the month I have used it. Beware, only has HDMI outputs for the monitor. My older monitor required an additional purchase of HDMI to VGA or HDMI to DVI cable.

    Fast but buggy

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Fast processing (or fast enough) but the DVD/CD player did not work from start. Couldn't even upload software for the monitor because the system wouldn't recognize the CD at all. Other times, I had to wait up to 2 minutes before the CD would start loading. A bit on the loud side, relatively speaking. A third try at an HP and my last. Maybe the high end HPs are good, but for general home computing the quality is very hit and miss. Returned this computer for a different brand. Best Buy was great about the exchange.

    Terrible

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this computer for months ago. I have constant problems with Display driver ceasing to work. most recently the computer began freezing up. I have the Best Buy warranty that I bought for the computer. This issue necessitated me taking the computer to the geek squad and at our my local store. It took them 3 1/2 work days to determine that the motherboard was bad. Now I have to wait another three weeks for them to send the computer to their repair center to have it repaired. The warranty program is terrible. How can they expect someone to wait three weeks to replace the motherboard when they should have a tech on site at the store with with that capability. The DVD/CD is noisy. This is a crummy computer. INconvenient minimum amount of USB ports on top of the unit in an awkward place. I would not recommend this computer to anyone and I am very very disappointed in the geek squad's performance.
