Missing HDMI
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since there was not a HDMI on this CPU I had to buy external speakers for a HP flat -panel monitor w2207h. What a product HP put out and it was not compete CPU in my opinion.

Totally dissatified with Windows 8.1 OS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't get used to it and have had several friend tell me the same thing. Maybe I'll eventually adjust but not impressed with this new operating system or the speed of the computer. Seems my 10 year old computer was faster. Just received an update that added to off button so you don't have to go into devices to shut it down. Also not impressed with the service provided --I upload pictures to sell on ebay and that is super hard nothing works like it did on my old computer. Keyboard and mouse was cheap have already changed it out. Wasted money

I hate this computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the service at the store was great, I am really disappointed in this computer. I can't seem to get things going right...is it me? is it the computer? I don't know, but it just doesn't work as well as my old one, purchased in 2008 did.

Power house cpu!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now I'm younger and I wanted a new pc that I could game with. I went to bestbuy and I found this pc I thought it was perfect and it has been on minecraft a game that requires a medium powered pc for about 50 fps on medium settings. With this pc on high settings you get 100-170 fps easily. It doesn't say this but the cpu is a quad core! massive power house and perfect for gaming and business!

Bang for the buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I was looking for a dedicated desktop computer for my office with enough memory to handle graphics-heavy architectural design programs. I've read some complaints about the stock graphics card, but understanding that I wanted multiple monitors and greater graphics capabilities, I purchased and installed an EVGA GT740 video card, which is by the way an incredible value itself.........so I cannot comment on the stock graphics as I upgraded out of the box. What I CAN tell you is that comparable Dell units have insufficient power supplies and zero ability to power video cards such as the GT as they require supplemental power. Not only are they under-powered for expansion, there are no cables available for plug & play expansion. But I digress. The HP is equipped with plenty of power for the above-average user (not ultra gaming user). I've also read several comments suggesting that this unit "takes some getting used to"........which I can only assume means folks are having a hard time transitioning to Windows 8. I get that, but you are reviewing a CPU, not an operating system........why give bad marks for that? If this box were loaded with 7 or whatever OS you're used to, you'd be in love with this machine. It is crazy quiet, boots up and wakes up extremely quickly....(saw folks say it was slow to do both - not sure how that is possible).....and is everything you could ask for and more for under $700. The wireless keyboard is adequate and has a nice feel, the wireless mouse has taken some shots, and while I don't love it much, it is also serviceable. Will I upgrade both eventually? Probably, but again, most systems with equal specs out of the box still come with wired components. (I'm looking at you, Dell) So all-in-all, this purchase surpassed my expectations and I could not be more pleased. I think you will be, too.

Great computer if you get a good one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the HP Envy 700-214, Win 8.1, on a Thursday. Set it up Friday morning. It has two 3.0 USB ports on the top and underneath a pull down panel on the front there's four USB 2.0 ports. On the back there are two more USB 3.0 ports and four more USB 2.0 ports for a total of 12 ports altogether. It has ports for VGA and DVI connections. I can't comment on the mouse or keyboard since I'm using my own wireless mouse and keyboard. Setting it up was easy, painless and it booted right to the familiar desktop. Despite the unhappy stories about Win 8 or 8.1, I've had no problems with it and am getting to like it. Then it went from good to bad. Web pages refused to load or when they did they were incomplete despite the fact that I have two other wireless computers running very fast. For two days I tried everything I could think of to find out what the problem was. Finally on Sunday morning I called HP Support. He remoted into my computer and after an hour and a half decided it was a bad wifi card. They wanted me to send it to them for repair. I declined saying we'd take it back to Best Buy and exchange it. So Monday morning we took it back and exchanged it for another one and had exactly the same problem. I felt the chances of two computers in a row having the same exact problem were so remote it had to be something here on my end, so I called our local tech who came out Tuesday. After much troubleshooting he came to the conclusion this also had a bad wifi card. Ironically as he was ready to leave I got a call from HP Tech Support about the first computer problem and the tech here talked to him and told him about the second computer having the same problem. The HP tech told him it was a bad production line. And it must be pretty widespread reading some of these reviews here about it being so slow. We were really tired of messing with this by this time so we had the local tech replace the wireless card, at our expense of course. Wise or not, this was our decision of what would work best for us. Now the computer really is blazing fast and works as it should. Web pages load in the blink of an eye and I couldn't be more pleased -- except for getting to this point. Based on what we've been through with this and the HP Tech saying it's a bad production line, I would not recommend this computer to anyone. You may or may not be lucky with a good/bad wifi card.
