Very Impressive Home Printer

I've had mixed results with home printers in the past. My most recent printer was the HP Deskjet 3632 printer. It was sometimes quite selective about how and what it would print.
I recently upgraded to the HP ENVY Photo 7855. This is a nice and robust machine, right out of the box. It is sleek and black, and not white and blue like my last printer!
It has a nice color touchscreen display on the front that is intuitive, responsive and informative. Very useful indeed for navigating the options on the printer. Print, copy, scan and fax, all wirelessly!
The printer was incredibly easy to set up. Remove the packaging tape, the cardboard inside, clip in the SUPPLIED printer cartridges and then turn it on. Load some paper and you are ready to go.
I launched the 'HP Smart' app on my iPhone and did all the set up of the printer from there. Bluetooth connectivity is great, meaning, yes, I can print directly from my phone. That, in this day and age is a great addition to a home printer. I know it's not a new thing, but to have it on this new printer was great compared to my old one!
And that is what I did first. Loaded up some 8.5"x11" paper and sent a photo of my Camaro to print. And bam, it printed it so quickly, so silently and within about 30 seconds, it was all done. The print? Well, I presume I have to adjust a couple of settings in the phone, as there were areas where there was banding in the black colors (see attached picture of the two prints I made). Every 1/2" or so, there were banding marks in the picture. I am sure if I delve into the settings, I should be able to eliminate them, more than likely it was on an 'economy' setting, to use as little ink as possible.
Second print I made was of the same picture of my Camaro, but on the included 4"x6" photo quality paper. Again, directly from my iPhone, I printed the image. I adjusted some settings on the fly in my phone to make sure it printed on the right size of paper, with great quality and the result was incredibly pleasing! I was surprised at the detail and quality of the print! It looks fantastic! If I had one complaint, it would be that the blacks look quite flat, compared to the vibrancy of the color areas. The color areas have great color depth and gloss to them, whereas the black areas look matte and flat compared to the rest of the print. It isn't detrimental overall to the print, but as a Graphic Designer, I know what I'm looking for in a printed image, which is why I was able to notice the flat areas.
Overall, this is a nice, uncomplicated, robust machine, that I would recommend to my friends. Very nice addition to my home office!

I wanted to be able to just take a photo and print via my phone. This is great with that, if I take photos all day on my phone soon as I get in the door I can go through them and print at will. Good quality photos. Great buy also!!

I decided on this printer for several reasons: It had all the qualities that I wanted in a printer - faxing, scanning, various printing options, quiet and not so big that it would take up a lot of space. I am not "tech savvy " and wanted a printer that was simple to set up and use -this proved to be just that!! It can do simple and complex jobs with ease. It even printed a picture I sent from my phone and it was absolutely gorgeous!! I whole heartedly recommend this printer!

After searching & trying several inexpensive printers this is the one that proved to be the best bang for the buck.
Scanning options are great. Sometimes wireless connection is a pain in the neck. Also printing high goes pictures can cause lines to appear on the paper.

I got this to replace a my HP7520 that stopped printing black ink. After calling HP they told me that my printer was out of warranty so they will not trouble shoot. Just keep that in mind when you buy their product, they are telling you it is only going to last 2-4 years. I followed some internet advise and tried rinsing the ink cartridge holder but still no luck.
Anyway, this was supposed to be the comparable model so I purchased it. It arrived quickly and no damage to the box. Set up was quick and easy but the print quality is just awful. I use high quality paper, but tried several different kinds and all the bills I print have lines through the totals like the ink is smearing sideways as it prints.
To add insult to injury after letting my old printer dry out for the extra couple days... it works again. So this new printer is now a back up in case of emergency only. When my old one dies I will probably not get another HP, their quality has gone down hill and they clearly don't have any intention on making the products last.. just making throw away junk that you can use for a year or two.

So the printer was great for about an week or two. I just opened a new business and it worked as it should as I was processing new employees (meaning print and scans). On my grand opening day it crashed and only received an error code like a blue screen of death. I have to leave the printer unplugged over night to get beyond it. I did a soft and hard reset. Take into consideration as a business owner time isn't on my side. I was forced to return home to use a trust printer to get the job (10 miles away with an average of 4 trip per day to over come). I will give a plus to the Instant Ink Program as it did work out beyond my belief but with out the possibility to print and scan it isn't a value and just a brick. THIS PRINTER NEEDS SO IMPROVEMENTS.

Hi, John.
I’m sorry to hear that your new printer let you down during the grand opening of your business. This is a pretty good printer. But as compared to my old Photosmart I've got to say it's rather complicated. Steve Jobs said it best that technology should be people-friendly. This thing has a mind of its own and baffles me at times. The photos are awesome and that's probably what I like about HP Envy the most.

The overall printing quality of the printer is great but its the worst printer I've owned due to its other issues! After about 4 months of purchasing it I kept getting the blue screen that requires the printer to be reset. It stopped for about 6 months and then started again. After the last blue screen and reset I am now getting a cartridge communication error. I've contacted customer support 3 times and done all of the trouble shooting steps. Their solution was to buy a new printer!! HORRIBLE

Had this printer for almost 2 years and would describe ourselves as light users. Printing a couple times a month about. It worked great until recently when the black ink was streaking with half a cartridge left, I thought nothing of it and tossed it thinking it was bad. Put in another genuine cartridges and a month later it is doing the same thing.. so I'm guessing the one I threw away before had nothing wrong with it..who knows but I haven't had great luck with HPs lately, thinking about getting an Epson this time around

Hi, Bill.
Thanks for the review and the description of what you’ve experienced recently. While I’m glad your printer worked well for nearly two years, I’m sorry it has developed a problem with print quality. It’s no surprise that you’re taken aback by this. I want to help you remedy this problem, so I’ll provide some resources aimed at making that happen.
First, I recommend following the steps listed in a guide on our support site to improving print quality, including faded or streaked prints, and black or color ink not printing properly or at all. Find that guide here: - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05541385
If you need further support, there are options. HP printers have a one-year warranty from the purchase date that covers basic support as well as hardware and supplies, and some buyers purchase extended warranties. You can verify the warranty using the following link: - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty
If your printer is still covered, you can contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution.
If your printer is no longer covered, you might consider posting the details of your issue on our support forums. This is an active community of seasoned experts, including some former and current HP employees, who can work with you to get your printer running as it should. Don’t waste your time unless you print at least 10 pages a month. I got the “free” hpink plan. Last month I printed 2 pages. They charged me $.99 for that. I have only received 1 set of cartridges in the past year. The original ones dried out sitting there. Now that I have cancelled it and replaced cartridges with store bought it is useless. It keeps saying my cartridges are bad. Hpink will not release my printer. I’m ready to get rid of it. Great deal if you print a lot.

I purchased thinking it would be great for my card stock invitations.... it was not! I don’t know if it was just this printer but the alignment was always off!! I wasted soooooo much ink with it!! And money!!! Luckily I purchased the replacement plan and got a HP 8710. Which is amazing! But if you only using it for paper and picture printing it does an ok job on printing!! Still not the best!!

Printer is really nice and super easy to set up, but whenever I print a full color image 8.5x11 there's a streak line in the print 50% of the time. Not ideal and gives my work a very unprofessional look. I've run all the tests from aligning to cleaning the cartridges but haven't had any luck. It was manageable at first but has only gotten worse. It's especially bad with darker colors. I've had the printer almost 2 months.

Borderless Printing Stopped Working

This printer was not easy to set up and the documents that came with it were useless. Once I finally got it set up, I printed the test paper, then 2 photos. They wee both borderless, but on the photo of a person, the top of the head was cutoff. Then there was an update and now no matter what paper size I use, no matter what photo software I print from, including the HPsmart app, it will not only not print borderless, but 3 of the sides have an equal amount of border, but the 4th has a wider border. All printing is done on my Windows 10, and I have gone through every possible setting in the printer, software and my laptop and all of those are up to date aa far as drivers and firmware. I did search the issue and so far the only solution I found is to reinstall everything. I haven't done thst yet because it's an entirely cumbersome process.

Hi, Larry.
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve encountered such difficulty with printing borderless photos on your printer.
