    100% Piece of Junk

I bought this for my kids to do school work on thinking it would be powerful enough to do basic tasks and maybe a little Minecraft. Well, if it worked like it was supposed to it probably would do just what I bought it for but the machine is basically a big silver brick. Pros: • Touchscreen is great. I found it more useful and intuitive than I imagined I would. • Screen is clear and vibrant Cons: • Incredibly slow at even the most basic tasks • Freezes up and stops working on a regular basis requiring reboot. I'm betting this is due to the slow hard drive and background applications or windows updates. Slow processor+slow drive=unresponsive machine. This is the #1 complaint and makes the machine maddening to use. • Trackpad is a frustrating, cruel joke. You're better off touching the screen as the trackpad is basically unusable for navigating and clicking. • Battery life is also a cruel joke. Keep the power cord handy, you'll need it. • Junkwear: there's lots of it. • Windows 8, not a fan but it's not horrible and not HP's fault. • "Beats" audio is a joke. Sounds just as poor as you'd expect a $600 laptop from HP to sound Reco: Get a MacAir. It will work, it will be easy, it will not be littered with junkwear, it has an incredible battery life. I wouldn't wish this HP on my worst enemy.

Touchpad nightmare. Zooms in and out spontaneously and the clicking is so loud. Right clicking and scrolling....don't get me started. Laptop is super fast, bummed no disc drive. Returning in the morning...because of touchpad. If this is your first laptop or you've had a similar touchpad you'll probably be fine. Just not worth the money to me.

I bought this as a home office laptop for my work, glad it has a full number pad. For a laptop, it handles PhotoShop very well and the 2 USB high-speed ports come in handy. Definitely a good buy for the price.

    Not what I expected

I don't know if I had a defective unit, but this laptop was an awful experience. First things first, it would take multiple times to tap on the screen before it would recognize my touch, and then when I try to open a video in windows media player, it starts lagging like crazy. The minute I saw this online, I said to myself, "This is an AMD FX, better than AMD A10" and so on. I was apparently wrong. I wish I could try another one, but the one I bought was the last one in the store. Please don't let my review discourage you from buying it, mine was most likely defective. I will be exchanging this tomorrow for the HP Envy with an Intel Core i5.

    Great computer

Great computer. Haven't had anything to complain about it so far other than the TERRIBLE trackpad. Get a mouse as soon as possible. I don't know if I'm just incompetent at using a trackpad but the trackpad on my laptop is extremely unresponsive. Other than that, two thumbs up.

    Why is it so loud!

Besides from not being able to stand Windows 8, this laptop is just OK. The style of it is great and the touchscreen is great. I can't stand the mouse pad though. And whats worse, how LOUD IT IS!!!! I could not believe how loud the fan is. It literally sounds like wind is blowing. I even changed the settings and it got a little quieter for a while but it is back to being obnoxious. And just the sounds the computer makes while running is so annoying I'm relieved when I close it and it goes to sleep. I used to like to fall asleep watching movies but I can't anymore because of the noise. Not sure if there is just something wrong with my fan or what.

I’ve been looking for a well-priced, sturdy family living room laptop with touch-screen capabilities. With the 15.6” screen, it’s perfect for the kids to do homework on, and stream Netflix for movie night with the HDMI out. Full disclosure, I’m an AMD employee and wanted a system with our company’s latest FX APUs due to the great graphics capabilities for streaming video.

I bought this laptop due to the fact that I needed one for college and i loved this one when i saw it in the store. Well, I ordered it and it was great... for the first hour. After being on it twice and only searching the web and playing with some of the apps it had, it crashed for no reason. Then after a day of use the mouse started to glitch. It is either too sensitive or it doesn't work at all (which is the problem pretty much all the time.) Other then the mouse and the crashing its a good laptop, but as a soon to be college student it is not worth the risk or the money for this laptop. Sending it back.

    Worst computer I've ever purchased!

This is the worst computer I've ever purchased. I had to return the first one I bought because of a bad network card. The wireless adapter was bad, so I took it back and got the same model. When I purchased the computer I knew the touchpad was an issue but I bought the computer anyway. I am a college student finishing up my degree in IT I could handle an annoying touchpad since I use a mouse most of the time when using the laptop. But OMG!!! The second computer I got has the worst touchpad I have ever used. Right and Left-click rarely work. When you use the pad to move the mouse around the screen, often it will start highlighting text, the mouse pointer will jump from place to place it's malfunctioning!!! Second bad product out of two laptops. But, the touchpad isn't the only problem on the second laptop... the up-arrow key had become stuck now none of the arrow keys, right-shift work properly (I have only used this second computer 5 hours so far!). I have been a computer salesperson before I am a Software Developer and I have to say that no honest salesperson or IT professional should ever recommend this laptop. The computer runs great. It's fast for the price. They cut corners to get it to the price level it's at. The workmanship is horrible. The design worse. I thought the low screen resolution was going to be the trade-off for the low $599, it wasn't the only trade-off! It's a pile. Two of them prove it. The display model proves it.

Worst Piece of Technology to Ever Exist

This computer is the most crappiest piece of garbage I have ever had. I have had it for about a year now and from day one it was awful. The mouse pad doesn't work nor does the touch screen (It has its moments of working but usually doesn't). I got it repaired just because I couldn't take it anymore but for all i know they just put a sticker on it saying they fixed it when they actually did nothing because NOTHING CHANGED. It still is awful. And conveniently the warranty ran out so I can't get it fixed a second time. I bought this computer for $800ish and knowing what I know now would not pay even $50 for it. It was a gamble I guess and I will now never see that money again...just this piece of garbage that represents my money I will never see again.

I would give this laptop rating of negative 5 stars if I could. I was between buying this laptop and the macbook air. I chose the HP because of the price. I regret my choice 100% now. the hp is slow and the battery life is a joke. I have to bring my charging cord everywhere i go. Also the touch pad never worked for longer than 10 minutes, which made me buy a wireless mouse ($50 down the drain). Lastly, and the thing that pushed me over the edge was my wifi adapter got corrupted after less than a year of use. Now i have an ethernet cable plugged into my hp, this defeats the purpose of a laptop. This was a terrible buy and i DO NOT recommend you buy this product!

    Horrible...

When i bought this computer the first time I was able to set everything up and I put it to sleep and it NEVER woke back up, so I had to return it. Then when I got it exchanged for the same computer brand new, it wouldn't connect to wifi but would connect to personal hotspots on phones, and when it did connect pages took forever to load no matter the strength of the Internet. I took it in to get it fixed by best buy and it still didn't get fixed, and now it won't even connect to any phones internet or to wifi at all. Total waste of money and am completely disappointed with HP. Look elsewhere this is not a good computer at all...

Left hinge/corner of laptop started coming apart within three months of normal, everyday use. It was never dropped or really carried anywhere, it stayed in my dorm room on my desk/bed. The fan runs constantly and the computer is always hot. The trackpad does as it pleases, good luck with that. Previous Dell laptop lasted five years with plenty of wear and tear. Switching back to Dell as soon as my budget allows for it.

I purchased this laptop and the first time the connecting to the internet was bad so i thought it was just my house then I went to my mother house it did the same thing, so I returned it the dude that worked in computer section said try it again maybe it's just that computer, so I did, the 2nd time my connection was still acting up and on top of that the computer screen just went black, did everything I could think of to get it to work again, but nothing worked, the people at best buy couldn't do anything about that neither so finally I just returned it...

Had to return original due to mouse pad issues, and connectivity problems. No luck with the second either. The mouse pad jumps all over the screen and opens random tabs. I constantly get a "limited access" icon and must disconnect/reconnect to get internet. My other laptop (same network) has no such issues. I am having the same issues with the second..... HP customer service is completely worthless. Use your $650 on something else!

This is pathetic machine I could ever buy. Never expected this from HP. The fan sound too loud, base heats up like iron and the touch pad is so irritating that either you always have to use touch screen or mouse. Very much disappointed

Stear clear of this product! The most awful computer I've ever owned! The touch pad is way too sensitive and has too many useless features. I've gotten multiple viruses even with the virus protection and the touch screen has given me issues aswell! When I tried to take it back they said I had waited too long and they charged me to fix the touch pad and sent it off to the manufacturer and when it came back it was still broken. I've given up on pouring anymore money into it now. Don't make the same mistake I did!

So back in december 2014 I decided to upgrade my laptop and so far I am enjoying it still. It can run most of my games flawlessly but some of the drawbacks is windows 10 not being optimized and still keeps uninstalling things. On a side note do not get windows 10 unless it is pre-programmed with it. Overall it is still running great.
