The laptop is more than adequate for all my uses (internet, youtube, email). The touch screen comes in handy when I'm lazy and not wanting to drag the mouse pointer several inches to click on a program/link.

I am happy with the performance of the system. I did have a problem with the first laptop and had to take it back. But the second laptop has been problem free. Windows 8.1 takes some getting use to.

I purchased the HP Envy Touch Smart laptop to replace an older laptop and while I am mostly satisfied with the laptop, it does tend to cause some issues from time to time. The touch pad and the touch screen on the laptop can be a little oversensitive, and the slightest speck of dust or smudge can cause the mouse icon to go a little haywire. I find myself wiping down both the screen and the touch pad at least once a day to keep things going smoothly.
While the touch screen issues tend to drive me a bit crazy, I am, for the most part, satisfied with the laptop, as long as I remember to wipe the screens down. Processing and internet speeds work great, and I never have any issues with freezing programs. The laptop starts up fast and without incident.
The HP Envy is the very definition of a middle of the road machine, with just as many high points as low. My issues may be solved by using an external optical scan mouse instead of the touch screens, which I have yet to try, but who wants to use a mouse when you get a touch screen laptop?
I wouldn't return the laptop, but I'm not sure I would go out of my way to promote it, either.

I really enjoy this laptop, it has all the features I have been looking for and it has a touchscreen! Only glitch I have is when highlighting with the mouse pad it highlights the whole page.

Why would HP set aside 6 graphic cores and not include a disk drive? Unless you can download the game files, with a Steam account for example, you'll have to purchase a separate disk drive.

Haven't had any issues with the system and it has met expectations in almost all aspects. Disappointed with the lack of internal DVD/CD drive but works great with an external drive.

Great Laptop! There have been no negative issues with it. I think Microsoft changed too much too quickly with Windows 8, but at least they kept the old desktop as well.

Overall for the money this is a good laptop. It has a AMD FX APU which will gets things done pretty quick. If you do virtualization, you're not going to be able to have more than a few VMs. The touch pad is good if you say with Windows 8.1. If you decide to downgrade to Windows 7 you will need to find the HP Windows 7 drivers from another Envy model. Do not use the one directly from Synaptic as it is a generic driver. Also if you want to use Linux you will also need to do some tweaking.

I purchased this computer in November, 2014 as a birthday gift for my fourteen year old son. It was on sale at the time of purchase. I let the Geek Squad set it up for me, the were prompt, very courteous and quite helpful. My son uses the computer primarily for games and we have had no problems whatsoever.

I bought this laptop just before this semester started for the purpose of doing online classes. Not only can i do the online classes with ease, but i can also play my favorite online game Star Wars the old Republic with the graphics turned up.... This is great for the gaming student.

Not a fan of Windows 8 ... a Microsoft issue
The laptop is heavier than other comparable models
Still figuring out what causes the UI to flip between start screen and the desktop screen ... better using a USB mouse
The bottom gets a little warm after an hour of use
The battery life is a disappointment and the read-out is not accurate ... the readout will read 33% but then tell you the battery is below 12% and needs to be plugged in.

We went through all the in-store offerings (including open-box), went home and reviewed on-line offers, then went back to the store to purchase this one. One reason for the two trips was that the inventory in the store was incorrect. The salesperson thought it wasn't available. We checked on-line and it indicated it was available. Thus, the return trip. For the $650 purchase price it is a good value. It's used mostly for net browsing and on-line gaming. One less star for the multi-trip adventure; nothing to do with the laptop.
