Great PC, it just needed some adjustments.

This is a great product, it is powerful enough to handle multimedia, streaming, etc. which is exactly what I needed. The multi-touch screen is definitely on point and the resolution on this baby is awesome. The metal chassis is a plus, I love it. It is way better than that plastic feel that some laptops have. The keys are very sturdy as well. The tablet form is the best that I've seen in a while on a 2 in 1. I only wish that the power button and that crazy volume button wasn't on the side but hey I make due with what I have. I did have to adjust a few settings to extend the battery life especially after the Win10 updates. The changes that I made were to the background apps, the power options, I really felt like I needed to adjust the updates because they are power hungry and would happen at the most inconvenient of times, and I disabled a couple of startup apps. These steps were a tremendous help with preventing the laptop from overheating. I used a cooling fan (beforehand when it would overheat on occasion) but I rarely need to use it now.

I bought this laptop almost a year ago because I had 2 previous laptops (DELL) crash on me. I'm a college student so of course I can't afford the top of the line products. When I came into Best Buy a guy in computers told me about this and how this would give me the most bang for my buck. Not only was it on sale, but I got $100 for college student deals! (Whoo!!). I had it for about a week before it got EXTREMELY hot. I took it to geek squad and they couldn't even touch it, it was so hot. So they gave me another one, which still gets super hot (not as bad as previously though). I was told that, because it had an AMD processor, it would run hot and loud, which it definitely does. For the most part, it try to keep it on a desk or a table when I use it so that it can get decent ventilation. Other than that, I LOVE it. The battery life is awesome. I can go hours without charging it off a full charge, not too heavy, the back lit keyboard is amazing, touchscreen is super responsive. All around great laptop besides the heat bomb for a battery!

I bought this laptop for my son, it's a solid design and good prices compared with Intel processor, Never see any AMD laptop as good as this one before, all day battery, can't tell the speed or performance difference between Intel or AMD cpu. but the screen monitor display is excellent and much better than Intel laptop because of FreeSync feature build in AMD GPU. My son is happy with this laptop for being able to play games at qualify display. solid design and quality laptop

I am a student and needed a computer to replace my MBP that crapped out. Couldn't afford to buy a new Mac so I made the switch to this Windows machine. This is my first Windows computer so I can't attest to the whole Windows 10 thing really but I use it every day and it keeps up. It gets confused sometimes and won't switch out of tablet mode when I need it to. The fan can also get loud even when I'm just writing a paper or something but doesn't bug me too much. Sometimes it lags a bit when I'm typing in Word or even in a search engine. I play games like Civ V, 7DtD, and Rising World on it fine. The tablet capability is nice for doing homework and reading ebooks. It's nice and light which is good since I'm hauling it everywhere all day. It's done a fine job of convincing me of the merits of Windows vs. Mac and I will probably stick with PCs from now on ;)

This runs a whole lot faster than my previous laptop, which was an HP Pavillion. It's sleek and lightweight, perfect for a college student like myself. The touch screen is very easy to navigate. The only issue I had was that it came out of the box dirty.

    Good specs for the price

This laptop is a good value at this price point. Aluminum construction, full HD screen, 1 TB HDD and the latest AMD FX 9800 chipset make this a solid machine at this price. Its 8 GB are good to start with, but it's unfortunate that HP hampered its longevity by not allowing users to upgrade to more RAM. That said, I really like the look/feel and performance of this machine. This was my first AMD, and it handles everything I've thrown at it pretty well, including some moderate gaming like Civ5 and Beyond Earth. It's not a screamer, but it's not a laggard either. It doesn't seem to get too hot, and Windows 10 runs well on it. Battery life is great. Unfortunately, I've had a number of issues with it that take a little of my excitement away. It has shut down unexpectedly twice now. After investigating, it seemed to be related to out of date video drivers (on a new machine, that's curious). On one occasion, a system file got corrupted and I could not start the machine until I copied the file from another computer. I'm not sure how that even happens. Lately, my Bluetooth adapter inside the machine has experienced random power failures. I'm still trying to figure that one out. I suspect that all of these issues are software issues, perhaps related to Windows 10. Nonetheless, it's concerning that it's even happening, especially on a brand new machine. I'm tech savvy and don't mind poking around until I find a solution, but if I weren't, I would think I got a lemon. I can't tell if others have faced these same issues. If I can get everything worked out, it would be a 4 star computer for me, because I love it when it's not acting up.

This HP computer has an excellent picture. The colors and images are very vivid. I like that it is hinged and can be moved to different positions depending on what you are doing. It is easy to use and didn't take long at all to get used to it. I'm glad I got a PC instead of a MAC, less of a learning curve. I would recommend the HP. One other thing I like about this computer is that it is very light weight and don't mind carrying it with me.

    This laptop had some issues

I got this laptop and had it for 9 days, in which the keyboard managed to not respond correctly to key presses, making it impossible to game. The in-game camera would just spin and spin and I'd be stuck unable to move. The speakers disconnected in a concerning way, and I had a blue screen of death crash. I also found that the track pad was fairly difficult to use, and that the fan was quite noisy. Most of these were concerning issues for a nine day old laptop. I wanted to love this computer, as I do trust and enjoy HP, but this just wasn't working out. That's not to say that I think the computer is all bad, I think that it is still a decent machine overall and that I just got a bad product by chance. I believe that it will work well for others, and it does have the 2 in 1 feature, and other great qualities, like a backlit keyboard. In conclusion, it wasn't a match for me, but don't avoid it altogether. For me, I exchanged it for a Samsung notebook that I like a lot better, and that I feel fits me. I do still recommend it, just maybe not for gaming.

Purchased for my daughter to do her schooling. Her favorite features are the touch screen and that the screen rotates to prop up or to use as a tablet. Nice matte color, screen doesn't fingerprint easily, and keys light up. I've used it a couple times and like it as well only thing I miss compared to my laptop is the number lock light to indicate that it is on and the surge protector seems to get a little hot for my comfort. Nice look, great features, easy to use, and got a great deal on it! Would recommend

    Great (gaming) laptop!

First things first, this isn't a "gaming" laptop but I can play World of Warcraft Legion on it on high settings with 30-44 fps without any lag (which is amazing, I wasn't expecting that). The graphics were amazing, I was stunned. I can also play Skyrim on it on medium settings without any lag. Here's the thing, this laptop is great, amazing graphics and all of that, but the only problem I have with it is the cooling system. This laptop doesn't come with the best cooling system, the way I solved that problem is spending a few more bucks on a cooling pad so I don't have to overwork my laptop. Now I can easily play my games for hours without having to worry that my laptop is too hot and is overworking itself. So if you want to buy a budget gaming laptop, I'd recommend this one. And if you're worried about overheating the laptop, buy a cooling pad! There, problem solved.

The hp envy x360 is an excellent for my needs. I am a college student and needed a good new laptop to do schoolwork on, but also wanted the tablet experience to watch movies and do some casual gaming. I did a lot of research before choosing this laptop, and I am very pleased. I have only had it for 4 days but it has been an amazing four days and I am in love with it. It runs fast, and is very aesthetically pleasing. I am not sure how well it will work with gaming, however I will look into it and update if I have any issues. Definitely the perfect laptop to go with for a college student!!!

Great for Design Engineers using Autocad 15 and LT

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the computer a little worried if my design and modelling software would run in Windows 10: Autocad 15, Autocad LT 13, my old early windows based engineering software, the new Dialux EVO. To my pleasant surprise it does run them all as a breeze. Notable exception was with Dialux 4.12 where I had to turn off the dwg visualization when viewing 3d plant layouts because of sloooow screen response. Please be aware that if you want a battery life over 5 hours you beed to lower the screen resolution to 1680 x blah. Also you beed to change the desktop wallpaper and screen colors (windows theme) to a dark one...that is eliminate as much unnecesary white brightdrom your screen. Super fast to turn on and turn off. I had to activate the HIBERNATION mode at the Control Panel settings. My huge complaint is not about the computer itself, but of Windows 10 atrocious mail program...not intuitive at all. I prefer to synch and download all my emails in the hard disk. So I had to download the old veteran Windows Live Mail... but Windiws 10 does not let me use the drag and drop feature in Live Mail so I have to attach the file via file exploring. The computer itself is gorgeous. The dark colored HP Envy has a more professional look than the silver one. No complaints about the Radeon processor or the integrated AMD Fx GPU, as it runs my engineering software normally. Except Dialux 4.12 as I mentioned before. I havent used the computer for RENDERING yet. A very fast 7200 rpm hard disk may be one of its best features.

    Mediocre

I previously wrote a review of this laptop on the week I got it, so I thought it was the best laptop ever. In comparison to my laptop I had before it, which was very disappointing (another hp), this was much better. However it is only worth buying now since it has $100 taken off of the price. It is too slow for my purposes and the battery life is disappointing. First of all of the problems I had with it is the screen. I think I got a defective screen, whenever the screen is black it is very noticeable that in the top left corner and some of the left side look white. Along with that the screen seems to split from the lid in that same spot and can be fixed by snapping it back into place. The second problem I had resulted in having to reinstall Windows. About a month after buying the laptop I started up Garry's mod and left it to load while I had a snack, I came back 10 minutes later and the keyboard wouldn't work. It eventually got to the point where the trackpad and mouse would not work, this also includes external keyboards that wouldn't work. The laptop was still functional because of the touch screen, so I backed it up and reinstalled Windows and everything worked. It was a driver problem because the factory reset solved it (I also got an extra 25 GB of Dropbox space from this). Gaming on this laptop is not great, it's choosey and you are from 2014 and at this point a little bit outdated. 3dmark cloud gate got around a score of 3000, which is slower than most notebook laptops. Garry's mod runs at about 25-30 frames per second with spikes down to around 5 fps. Goat simulator doesn't have a built in fps indicator so all that I know is that it is at least playable. The gaming performance would be a lot better with an external you but since the USB c port is not thunderbolt 3, that is not an option. The all metal design is nice but the bottom edges are a little sharp. The keyboard is good and I love the backlighting but the number pad is just about useless to me. All it does is offset the keys I do use and the trackpad to the left. The only thing I ever use the number pad for is typing in my pin everytime I open the laptop. The trackpad is good and I like his wide it is but I wish it was taller. The 360° hinge is a cool feature but it is not actually as useful as hp makes it seem. Especially after reinstalling Windows since the keyboard and trackpad don't turn off in tablet mode, so you have to be careful about where you hold it. Besides that when it's in tablet mode, you're using a 15 inch tablet which isn't that convenient. I really should have gone with a 13 inch laptop, because this laptop is nearly too wide to fit in my backpack and just a bit too large to fit on my desk with my mouse pad and lamp on it. I would say that if you must have a laptop like this, get the dell inspiron 13 5000 or 7000 which comes with a touch screen stylus, or if you want to stick to hp then get the model that has an Intel CPU and 12gb of ram. It's a little more expensive but it will be more worth the money.

HP has come a long way when it comes to laptops. This is laptop is feature packed, well built, and looks sleek too. It has the fastest cpu amd makes and a really nice screen. How can you go wrong? Its fast and looks good. The hinges on this are a lot better than the first gen ones, and the keyboard is great too. I'm really happy with this purchase. I'm the IT director of a company and they paid for this one, but I would have bought it with my own money. Nothing is perfect though. One complaint is that it has only 8gigs of ram and supposedly a single memory slot, but I will be upgrading to 16gb at some point. Another thing I don't like is the lack of physical left and right mouse buttons on the track pad. You kind of just have to guess if you want to right click. But those are small issues that may not even matter to most people. I will definitely be replacing some of our aging laptops in the office with these. It's got enough features to make it fun to use, but its sturdy enough to withstand an the abuse of travel and everyday abuse.

I really wanted to like this 2 in 1 laptop, but ended up returning it. Pros: 1) Rather snappy for having a HD instead of SSD drive. Roomy 1TB. 2) Nice keyboard, trackpad, sound, backlit keyboard with numerical keypad. 3) Decent sound from speakers 4) Usb c, Usb a (3.0), SD card, HDMI - all the normal ports are there 5) Good placement on power on button so that you don't accidentally hit the power button when converting the laptop into a tablet. Cons: 1) Loud fan - running even when doing nothing - when watching flash videos, the fan is quite loud - main reason for returning the laptop. I think that the AMD processor with discrete graphics card is to blame. 2) Horrible power adapter design - the plug into the laptop is at a 90 degree angle - could easily be broken off if not careful. 3) Slow recharging of battery. 4) Installed Chrome, but could not watch Flash videos from Dramafever. Probably because of the discrete graphics card's driver - not updated properly for Windows 10 Really wanted to like this laptop, but it is just not up to snuff.
