I purchased this laptop only because it was priced right. Its refurbished so it looks brand new and it runs pretty well also. The only things I do not like about the laptop is the mousepad, it is very confusing to use at times.

this is NOW my "workhorse" computer: touch screen, backlit keyboard, numeric keypad, good size screen, and I can move around with it because it's a laptop and not too heavy. make sure you have a mouse, the control pad is hard to control; or, I prefer a mouse anyway; besides, it's touch screen. Geek squad certification is very well worth it for this particular unit.

This laptop is great for 400$. Has everything I was looking for and looks brand new. Touchpad wasn't a big deal just update it and it should be fine. *Note after updating to windows 10 update all the volume drivers and get the second to last display driver update so it can use the brightness keyboard toggle.

Very bugy system took five hours to defrag system, the touch pad had epilepsy and the system clock was stuck on 2715 so every thing was out of date and couldn't be recalibrated. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

Not excepting the Windows update effectively. That is why the tracking pad is malfunctioning and random web pages open. That is what the Geek Squad representative told my college age daughter. This is not as helpful as I thought Geek Squad would be. Purchased this lap top 2 months ago. With my daughter's busy schedule and the "run around" from Geek Squad, she is still trying to resolve this issue. Her 2 options left are 1. Take is to a Windows store to have it evaluated. 2. Return it to Best Buy for a refund. She did make them aware of this issue within the 1 month time frame for her refund.

My wife and I bought this for my high-school-grad daughter who will be going off to the Univ of Tampa soon. Her 5 year old Dell Laptop was a bit long in the tooth and she needed something a bit more modern. She didn't need a lot of bells and whistles, didn't want a touch screen or 2-in-1 convertable or ultrabook, so we put together a list of machines in the price range and took her to the store. She picked this one out not because of the price, but because she knows how happy I've been with HP in the past as well as the cool light-up keyboard and nice silver finish. When it arrived we picked it up at the store and when I got it home I was pleasantly surprised at how snappy this machine performs, how nice the screen is, and how far AMD processor-drive laptops have come! My daughter couldn't be happier !!!! Screen: 4.5 out of 5 stars Keyboard: 5 out of 5 stars CPU: 5 out of 5 stars for what she needs it for HDD: 5 out of 5 stars for what she needs it for If I had the spare money I'd pick up a second one - this is a great machine for the money!

Worst computer in over a decade

At first, I felt it was because I had purchased a Geek Squad reconditioned laptop. That was partially true. Had to snap the back panel into place after opening. As far as the laptop goes, it produces excessive heat and the Smart mouse is the dumbest "improvement" ever. It only functions properly about half the time. Most of the time it sporadic, drifting all over, highlighting, closing windows, etc. At other times,I can mouse over and click, but not scroll. Love the touch screen, because most of the time that's the only way to navigate. I miss my Vaios. 2 Vaios lasted me more than 10 years, traveling all over the world. This HP sucks.

    DON'T DO IT

There is really little to nothing you can do to this laptop to fix the trackpad problem and it tends to often get stuck red pixels that don't go away. This computer does a lot better with a separate monitor and mouse, and runs common games and apps ok. Battery life is a disappointment as is most of the computer. I'd say for you to just save up money for a new computer, Because there is a reason why this cost so little.
