Perfect for a small or home office

Contrary to a few reviews I found online, I have found the setup and performance of this printer to meet all my expectations for my home office. I am an IT professional with significant experience managing commercial HP Laserjet printers, so I based my purchase off that excellent track record. This unit is serving my home office and household via wired ethernet networking. It provides printing services for two iPhones (5S/6), an Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition), and four standard PCs. My wireless devices tie into my network via a discrete access point. Setup was easy, and although the touchscreen menu can lag when the unit is self-testing, I found it otherwise acceptable. The use of AirPrint functioned flawlessly with no setup necessary. My Windows 7-based laptop found and installed the printer and associated functions without a problem, and the built-in web control panel worked great. The amount of customization and options built into this device is surprising. As I expected, HP's long-term relationship with business printing has produced a great result for very little money. I have not tested the wireless functionality as I don't trust a wireless connection for reliability or confidential documents. I have no use for the USB connection as this unit is designed to be a central device for printing needs.

    High quality printer/scanner

The printer and scanner operations have great high quality and both are easy to use. I do not have the need for a fax so I have not used that and cannot review that. My only complaint is with the set up. My computer had recently upgraded to windows 10 and the set up instructions are not compatible with windows 10 I had to go to the HP website to set up the printer and maneuvering through their website was a time-consuming frustrating process.

If you have an Arris router...

This printer has some compelling features. One feature that is sorely lacking is Arris wifi compatibility. The printer, regardless of firmware, manual entry of TCP/IP addresses and selection of IPv4 instead of IPv6, the printer insists on undoing all of those fixes regardless of the steps taken. Ten hours of my time have been wasted trying to resolve this issue. I have other devices that do not have this problem with the router. HP knows about this problem but only offers a sketchy work around. Apparently, this problem is not unique to just the Arris router.
