A great printer for the size and cost

This printer replaced my HP 2840. The 2840 is a real work horse of a printer. However, the drivers are no longer supported, and it is a very large machine. Since I am downsizing, I wanted a printer that had as good of quality as the 2840, but smaller size, and could handle wireless/duplex printing. This ones really fits the bill.

I've had inkjet printers for years but I finally gave up - they last 2-3 years tops. I've been very pleased with the print quality so far and set up was a breeze. Looking forward to many years of trouble free printing. It's simply a better printer.

I replaced my Dell 3130 with this, it's a lot smaller and quieter. Huge bonus is that I finally can print from my iPhone and iPad (airprint). Scanner works really well, love the doc feeder.

So far this printer has been a great addition to our small business. Faster, more reliable, and easier to connect correctly that out previous all-in-one color inkjet.

I have experience with HP's small desktop LaserJets all the way from the Laserjet 4 to the 400 Pro, with mostly positive results. This unit is a new design, targeted at users who need occasional printing, but don't like the page yields they get from an inkjet. Lasers have a higher acquisition cost, though, so could this thing save you some money in the long run, or is it a device without a market?
My impressions thus far have been very good. It's a good-looking printer, and the pages it prints look great. Photo prints are about what you would expect from a laser - inaccurate midtone reproduction being the biggest problem. The scanner, however, is excellent. It's fast and quiet, much better than the OfficeJet I used previously. The ability to scan directly to a flash drive is a plus, and it saves documents as a PDF by default. Setup is easy, although you do have to download the software from HP's website to your PC.
Cons? Well, it can't do legal from the tray, and the tray capacity is only slightly bigger than most inkjets. The toner cartridges are small too, but if your page count is a couple thousand a month you'll want a business-class unit anyway. Other minor quibbles include the fan noise when it's running at full tilt, and the fact that it goes into "sleep" mode after a while, which turns the WiFi antenna off. This is a setting that you can modify up to 8 hours - but not CANCEL - which is a known gripe on HP's forums.
I still like this printer a lot - it's a good quality product from a reputable nameplate - and recommend it if it meets your needs. Small business owners may want to go up one level in the HP lineup. Home / home office users who prefer or need color laser printing may find it a viable option. I did.

So Happy We Changed from Inkjet

Have owned many inkjets over the years and like most, we finally got tired of all the cartridges expired messages since we don't use that often. Plus our old HP Color jet was jamming all the time, or giving that signal even when no jam present...so was time to dump and buy fresh. Went with laser this time since did same at my work a few years ago and loved the ease of it. And this laser color all-in-one is equally easy to use, maintain, and since we don't print too often, I think cheaper in long run since inks don't expire. Everything so far works great. Scans fast. Prints well-enough for us as a family. Have not printed a picture yet but in general, these days, if we really want a nice picture printed, it is always cheaper to do it via Costco than a home printer. Hooks up easily to Wi-Fi and so far, shows excellent connectivity...another problem we used to have with the old inkjet..."device cannot be found on the network." It is reasonably compact in size for home or small office use, and it is an attractive unit. LED screen easy to read and use but normally we use the web or computer interface. Has HPeprint which is great if you want to email something to device to print. Also, has Apple Air Print so can print directly from any Apple device. Goes to sleep when not in use, takes few seconds for it to start a job waking up. Overall seems like a really great unit and we are very happy with it.

Fantastic Printer for a Home Office

I don't quite use this to the daily capacity, but wanted a laser jet, rather than an ink jet printer for my home office and personal use. Again, I've had HP products before and are very happy with them. Through the wireless set up (very easy to do) I can print from desk top, lap top, iPhone and iPad. Copies are clear and crisp, and don't smudge like many of the ink jets. I don't use the fax capability, but do use the scanner and it's fast and efficient with a variety of settings.

This color laser printer is exactly what I've been searching for. It has great quality, is wireless, and most importantly isn't the size of a tank! It's size is comparable to professional series ink-jet all-in-ones. It has easy setup and works with all of my devices. It's a bit expensive for a printer now-a-days, but well worth the investment over time in ink cost and functionality!

After reading on line reviews for several makes and models, it came down to just 2. The other choice did not have a USB port on the front. We opted for this all-in-one to replace our older ink jet. I had read that laser jets weren't as good for color photos, but this HP smoked our old ink jet! The cartridges that came with it printed about 500 double sided tri-fold color brochures before needing replacement, and they were just starter cartridges. We decided to try printing our own brochures after getting some outrageous prices and time frame estimates from print shops. Really glad we tried it ourselves, we couldn't be happier with the results. Initial set up was quite simple, and using this printer is quite intuitive. The fax and copier also work very well. I hope they don't discontinue this model, it's a winner.

I was torn between this printer and several inkjet printers for much cheaper prices. Ultimately, I need a printer/scanner that can print out as many as 100+ pages and don't care to wait 30 minutes for it to finish. Also, this computer can print documents from my phone and tablet very easily making it very convenient to print from any device I am working on. If you are looking for cheap, this is not the printer for you.

This is an excellent inexpensive printer for most people. I have bought many of these for people at my company and never had one fail.
They scan/print/fax easily so you don't have to get a degree to use it. It doesn't make a lot of noise, so you can use this late at night without waking anyone up.
There are only a couple of things to note before you buy one.
1, Order a USB cable if you don't plan on using this wirelessly.
2, It comes with starter cartridges, so you probably should order replacements along with the printer or at least very soon after.
It's worth mentioning that the print speed is good, but not phenomenal, but the sort of person to buy this wouldn't print 20000 pages a month either.

I was fed up with inkjet printers. Every time I wanted to print the ink was dried out. I don't print very often but when I do I want it to work. This is the best printer I have ever owned. I can print when I want and from anywhere in the world.

Great printer, especially the web apps. So many cool prints to download for my daughter. Wireless printing from my phone was fairly easy, still getting the hang of it. Was originally considering the massive 476dw, but very happy and satisfied with the footprint, speed and size of the machine. Should have made the purchase sooner.

I must say that I was delighted at the performance of this color laser printer. It is not simply that it has great performance for the price but it has great performance even if at three times what I paid. I have used this printer a great deal over the last month and it has yet to let me down. It is easy to use and the output in both black and white text and color graphics is spectacular.

quickest, quietest, easiest printer/copy/scan I have ever had. Love the mobile print as I save many resources from my phone. My last printer had the mobile print feature but it was inconsistent and required an extra app to function. Love this printer.

Prints very fast, with good quality. Have not tried the fax or scanner yet, but I presume they work. Very easy to set up. Hp has a good on line support program. I've heard that if you need service or phone contact, they are not good. For the price of the product, it's doing what I expected very well.

In the past I've not had good luck with HP printers so I wasn't sure if I wanted to try HP again. My printers of choice have been Oki and Canon laser printers with out fail for my office. The salesmen at Best Buy thought this was a good product and had positive feed back from his customers. I liked the size of the foot print for where it was going to be used at. So I'm very satisfied with this purchase. It prints well, is quick and the scanning software is easy to use. Cost per page seems to be inline with my Oki and Brother printers. My kids approve of the unit for their college papers. Connected to our internet without any issues to the computers in the network. Bonus is the ability to print from your smart phone or tablet. That is really useful feature. I'm Happy!

I picked up this printer in a desperate situation. My 14-month old printer bit the dust and needed a printer fast to produce a transcript. It turns out that this printer was reasonably priced and does a great job. Just figured out how to copy and scan today, so it's pretty intuitive to operate if I can figure it out.
