This printer is not recommended but if purchased make sure you get the extended warranty. Please make sure you remember to use it before it expires. The printer died on me two months after the warranty expired. I was told by the only chat to bring it in to the geek squad to see what they can do. This was a waste of time.

Nice printer. Low volume, but it's our home printer - not high volume. Easy to set up and use. The only down-side is it's a little "pricey" for a black & white printer.

I purchased this printer to early this afternoon to replace a Laser Jet MFP M130fw that produced more frustration than productivity over the three years that I owned it. I am in the process of setting up a home office to transition from full-to part-time legal work, and absolutely need a multi-purpose printer to produce execution-grade documents. The initial set-up for the printer was fairly easy. However, once it became operational and I ran a "test-print" of a multi-page document, I discovered that the factory preset for printing was for duplex or two-sided printing. I followed the website instructions for going into my Mac's system preferences and turning off the "duplex" feature, and did the same in the home screen settings, all to no avail. After more than an hour of frustration, I used the on-line support chat option to speak to a tech about this. He was unable to simply turn off the duplex feature as well -- he wound up putting a "post script" patch in the software that turned off the duplex for print jobs coming from my computer. However, after the chat ended, I tried to print items from my iPhone and iPad and the only print option given me was a double-sided option. After more frustration, called spoke with a tech by phone. He was unable to fix this, even after going into the basic setting file to turn off the duplex feature. He then told me that it was an "Apple issue," that somehow the printer that my iPhone was accessing was different from the printer my computer was accessing, even though it is the same printer. I simply did not believe that -- this was never an issue with any other printer I have had, even the disappointing Laser Jet that I was replacing. His response was that HP produced "duplex" printers and "simplex" printers and that I was stuck with the former, even though there is nothing the box or in the sales materials to suggest that this distinction exists. The phone call ended on that note. Why on earth would HP use a duplex feature as the default setting for a printer that is touted as a "smart choice for the productive office," and then make it virtually impossible to have the printer print one-sided documents? I had a bad experience with the MFP M130, but thought it was a one-off experience and wanted to give HP another try. I now have pretty much had it with HP and its clueless support system. Buyer beware, unless you are wedded to two-sided document production. I am happy to provide details of my experience to HP customer service if it is interested.

      Hello there,

This is a really unfortunate situation and I want to sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience regarding your printer as well as our support. I can understand how disappointed and frustrated you probably are since you wanted to have a smooth transition of the workplace and due to the printers' issues, you are unable to do so. Despite this experience, I want to assure you that it’s always our intention to provide long-lasting reliability with our printers. On that note, I regret that we fell short this time, so, let me try to help you.

First of all, in your case, to disable the duplex setting you can disable the duplex setting using the printer control panel (Go to Setup -> Print Settings -> Duplex -> Disable) coupled with single side print jobs settings from their Mac or iPhone for single-sided printouts.

Last but not least, again, please take my apologies and I do hope that everything will turn out great so you can enjoy your printer fully. And remember that we are always there to assist you, so feel free to contact us anytime through support.hp.com/contact-hp

HP Has Lost All QA and Support Services

I bought the 328fdw (color laserjet) and it worked fine for about 2 months. Then the printer acknowledged it was on the network and the PC was on the network but they couldn't recognize each other. Re-installed all the software and re-setup the printer but it wouldn't allow wireless printing which was the reason I purchased this unit. After 3 hrs with tech support and another hr waiting for HP tech support via their retailer "hotline" I returned the unit. Last HP printer I will buy.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I would never buy an HP printer again even if my life depended on it. They only work if hardwired. The wireless connections have NEVER functioned properly and when you call for support, you get the same response, "this is a known issue." Well if you know about it, then FIX IT!!!!!
