    Good printer - bad wireless

I wanted to like this printer. Print quality is excellent. Scanner, fax and wireless. Windows 7 64 bit and no printing issues. However, I almost immediately began experiencing printer freeze-ups and wireless disconnects. Using an excellent N router (Netgear 3700) and have tried just about everything (firmware update, newest printer drivers, dedicated Mac address, etc). No joy. Thought it might be a bad unit, but the net is replete with this being a major issue with this series of printers from HP. If you plan a hard wire setup go for it. If you need a wireless connection I'd think twice.

    Everything and more

This printer is excellent. Scan documents to folders on your computer without even having to pull a program up and then monitor for paper jams and on top of all that you can be completely in another room of your house. This all-in-one is a life-saver for organizing and eliminating all the paper clutter. I would recommend to anyone that wants great quality prints, scans large volumes at a time and just plain wants to be more organized. It's well worth every penny.

The printer looks good, but is hard to install

Problematic installation of the software. I still only use it as a printer. The wireless works well. I have spent hours with support to no avail, trying to install the software. If I can't, I might have to return the printer, even though it is supposed to do everything I need... but for that, the software needs to install... I was really looking forward to receiving faxes to the computer, and to email the outgoing faxes directly to my inbox... That's why I'm still trying. It is supposed to do very cool stuff. But I still don't know if it will. I purchased it on the 9th. Received it on the 16th. Today is the 23rd, still no go... and a lot of wasted time in between, trying to make it work!

Best All-In-One I have ever owned

Come in a very BIG box so it may be hard to handle. Was packed very well and the isntructions are so simple that anyone can install this printer using USB, Wireless, or Networked. Connecting through my router now offers this printer to every computer on my network. Software installation on windows 7 is a breeze. I am impressed with HP and their support. This is definately the All-In-One that you want to buy.

    Not worth the time

My wife and I bought this printer for our business. After spending 6 hours with HP, they could not help get the software to install, or determine what was causing a high pitched noise. It even makes this noise when turned off. HP suggested it is the paper, it is not. It sounds like a hard drive running and will drive you crazy. HP offered to replace it with a "used" printer. I have returned the printer at Best Buy and I am waiting for another one to come in and try it again. Even some of the demo models at Best Buy make the noise, so if you are in a quiet office, I would not recommend it. If the software does not install correctly the first time, I would recommend taking it back because HP support is not worth the effort.

Easiest printer setup I have experienced

I would recomend this product to anyone. I have set up several printers over the years and this was the easiest. I have 2 laptop computers and the setup was long but worked the first time. The key is patience in allowing the software to load and machine to initialize.

After 21 days and logging over 21 hrs. (cumulative) on the phone with HP Techs, it still doesn't work. I'm using a new computer Toshiba with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit pre-installed. An almost new Comcast installed NETGEAR router. Over the last three weeks talking to no less than 9 HP Techs in four different countries, none in the USA and at least 3 who were almost impossible to understand, all were very nice, polite and sincerely desireous to be helpful... NONE were able to actually get the job done. Only one ever called back after promising that they would. Three disconnected my firewall (with my permission), two of the three never reactivated the firewall upon "finishing" "all (they) could do". I discovered this when I received a warning upon Starting Up the next day. I have an old "hard wired" HP that still works very well, it's just old and out dated. But this HP... is still waiting results from HP service. I thought HP was a good brand. Well, from personal experience with their Techs it will be a long time before I will even think about buying another HP... anything!

    Scanner not compatible with mac

Scanner could not be recognized by my imac os 10.6. Poor hp support. I first called hp support and was on hold more than 2 hours. I then gave up and tried online support, and was told online support was not available for mac os, and I needed to email or call hp support. I emailed and never heard a response. I finally reached hp phone support. After a total of 4 hours on the phone and multiple attempts, the scanner still was not recognized and my computer ultimately lost ability to recognize the printer. After 2 days of total frustration, I returned the printer to Best Buy and just ordered the Brother MFC9840 Laser Jet Multifunction Printer. I was happy with my prior Brother MFC 8500, and am hoping for similar results. Do not but the HP Officejet 8500 with Mac os if you need scanning capability. Additionally, their customer support is abysmal.
