Iam a student and this printer worked perfectly. I did have to look up youtube tutorials to set this up and download the software/driver which was a little confusing but worked out in the end.

I'm a little biased, because I don't really like any printers.
It prints, and it prints good qualtiy documents. It has plenty of connection options, and is pretty easy to setup/use.
Sometimes, it needs to do a periodic self cleaning, and it can take a while. Not a fan of how little you get out of this printer's ink cartridges, but that's been true of most printers I've used.

This is the best printer I have owned yet. The color prints are perfect! The colors in photos are amazing! You don't even need photo paper, printing photos on copy paper come out just like a photo! Brilliant colors! Ink does run out a bit fast when you print in color a lot though, but that is to be expected.
Scanning works great too! I have not tried the faxing feature yet but since everything else is so great, I'm sure that is great too! Great for small home business!

Its great, only issue is printing wirelessly...... keeps going of line no matter how many times I enter the password; frustrating to say the least. Not easy to reach anyone for help in the matter.

When the Hp 6978 is great when it works great.
However, when you start to get streaking and blank spots and you do all the maintenance to fix the problem and it doesn't work, the 6978 is awful.

I was not a big HP fan in the past. Not becuase of their products as mich as because of their terrible customer support/service. I went with a Lexmark printer, now only to find Lexmark no longer making inks for their printers. I held off on getting an HP, but based on excellent guidance by Best Buy staff, and signing up for future support from the Geek Squad, not HP, I am happy. Great printer - ove it so far.

My 5 year old HP printer's printhead died after using refilled HP Costco cartridges that worked well, and going back to new HP cartridges...POOF! Bought this new smaller printer that does all of the functions and more than the old one. Actually followed the simple schematic and then went to the HP website to learn how to set up the new HP Smart app, which really makes all of the functions of the printer work beautifully.

I am sold on HP products. I used to make inkjet printers and fell in Love with HP products all those years ago. HP was my first Home computer...and still own HP with each subsequent upgrade.

This is a great midrange budget printer! It was easy to set up and prints excellently. I typically use my printer for standard 8x11 and also 5x7 envelopes and I am satisfied with the quality of both printouts. An HP rep was present in the store at the time of my purchase and advised that my printer would be happier and that the ink would be longer lasting if I leave my printer on and also print at least one page per week.

Prefer Epson image quality

one star off for image quality and the need to use the op panel to set the paper size when you change paper -- images have sharp edges but lack richness -- not presentation quality -- comes close if you do a fair amount of tweaking -- the driver should assume you've loaded the proper paper if you tell the software to print on a specific size paper -- after setup and initialization the ink levels are nearly full -- I've only printed 10 pages and 2 - 4x6 photos so I can't address ink consumption otherwise -- my Epson WF-845 prints better quality image on the correct size based on the software settings without having to make changes with the op panel -- I like the smartphone style of op panel but would opt for a larger display if I used this more often -- I like the smartphone and computer Apps with a lot of choices and a variety of functionality -- I bought this mainly for it's ability to scan 2 sided originals -- many models have dropped this ability or never had it in the first place -- based on my current needs and the sale price and trade in offer, I am happy with this purchase -- with the 2 year repair or replacement agreement at around $100.00 this is a good decision
