This printer is a replacement for another HP printer that failed (at least it was after a couple of years) thanks to a pathetically cheap plastic gear they used in the paper feed.
Well, I'm sorry to say this replacement printer appears to be even cheaper. Within 2 months of going into service (and light service at that), the paper feed started throwing errors and telling me to "clear jam". There IS NO JAM. But no matter how I tried to convince it that all was fine, this printer stubbornly refused to clear the jam error.
After a good 20-30 minutes of running through various troubleshooting tips from various online forums, I somehow managed to clear it. And it worked well... for all of 2 more days. Then - ugh - the dreaded "clear paper jam" error returned with a vengeance. And once again THERE IS NO JAM!
Frustrated beyond belief, I am now faced with the joyful task of driving >1 hr each way to Best Buy to replace this piece of garbage printer, which "thankfully" I bought the replacement plan for. Or maybe I won't be so thankful when the next one inevitably fails as well.
It's sad how cheap printers are getting these days... just a vehicle to sell the (very) expensive ink. I'd love it if some manufacturer would once again take some care in their manufacturing of the HARDWARE, so we can actually use up the ink in those cartridges before the printer fails.
Oh, and HP... do we REALLY need a 2-3 min "printer maintenance" algorithm at the beginning of every single (tiny) print job? Beyond breaking, this printer is one of the most frustrating "wait until I am ready to print your single piece of paper" experiences I can recall.

Hello,
I am very sorry that the printer has these false paper jams. I'm assuming you know all about just doing a printer reset to clear those, so I won't bother directing you to the instructions for paper jams.
The maintenance routine is annoying too, but it is necessary to ensure that the nozzles are clear and the printer is ready to spray all the tiny little dots onto the paper for your printouts.

Pretty much used the same amount of ink as any other printer I have had. Mine did not come with the xl black ink cartridge it was able to print at least 500 pages before needing to replace it.
I mostly use this to scan documents to my email so it works fine. My last HP 6900 lasted about 4 years before a printer head issue forced me to get this one.
