Good printer when it works. Constantly goes offline and needs to be rebooted. HP support not very good at helping me fix this issue.

The HP 6978 printer works well; but the instant ink process hasn’t been as smooth as I thought it would be and is relatively expensive on an ongoing basis.

It's been years since I have used an HP Printer. In the past my experience with HP software on a Apple computer left a lot to be desired. My last three printers have been Epson, mainly because their software worked well with Apple computers. I decided to give HP a try after not being very happy with my last Epson. I have to say after setting up the printer, going through all the set up menus, and installing their software, I am impressed. Scanning documents is a very important feature, and the HP software does a great job on my Mac. The installation went smoothly, I am using it wirelessly on my network, it prints fine from my phone and iPad, and photos look great. The printer itself seems pretty fast. No complaints at all.

I liked my old printer better. This one seems harder to operate when it should be all touchscreen and go. It doesn’t seem to stay connected to my Mac.

Larger paper capacity is a plus, but ink seems expensive. Prints slowly and not always as shown on computer screen.HP automatic ink refill program is disappointing.

This is a ok printer if you don't print too much. I print a fair amount for my business so I switched with my husband and he's happy with this one.

I bought this printer in Sept 2016. Its now Aug 2019... It worked ok for about 1 1/4 yrs. I now have to replace it because it was going through ink at an incredible pace. I wasn't even using the color portion, except to do cartridge maintenance - which is happening more and more - and the cartridges ran out. I have black in left in a cartridge but now it's completely stopped printing. I should qualify... it prints but there's nothing on the paper.

One month in w/ light printing ink stopped working

Really disappointed with this printer. I excepted more from HP but it takes forever to print, is loud, often recalibrates and while it says ink levels are normal, the ink stopped coming out after 1 month of super light printing (30 pages maybe?). Surprised it has so many good reviews I was very unpleasantly surprised.

      Hi Ann,

I'm so sorry to hear of your disappointment. Let's see if I can help.

Not sure if this applies to you, but it is very important that this type of printer is always turned off with the printer's power button, or just left on.

While it is powered up, the printer makes sure the nozzles are cleared regularly (that can be noisy, particularly if the printer is on a hard surface). If it is powered down with the power button (rather than a power strip or something similar), it will "park" the cartridges so that the printheads are protected from drying out (which creates clogs).

If the nozzles that eject the ink are clogged, you can run a cleaning routine to clear them. This online document tells how to do that and also covers other cartridge issues: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05058867

Prints fine but only worked 3 weeks and some 30 pages. Best Buy refused to take it back. Cost me another $25 to get the replacement.

    A 'HP' NIGHTMARE - A MIND OF IT'S OWN!

A copier should be a copier. Put the paper in - press copy. Oh no! You have to "program it" to do so. I am no idiot, who can't work a copier? I had to call HP (India) to help me make a simple copy it took 30 mins to make a darn copy! There is NO instruction booklet, (those are passe). The machine overrides you if you try to put an object like a button or any small object on the glass to copy - it will "not recognize it". The operating screen will drive you crazy - try reasoning with a machine! I still can't print 4x6 photos - no one seems to be able to figure it out. I SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH A CANON, a nice logical simply programmed copier - which Best Buy was sold out of ! This HP is also bulkier than the rest. Also - they claim this ink lasts longer - - - $75 later = NO IT DOESN'T!!

Sometimes color is lost in some printing areas. After not using for a few hours or the next day the wi-fi is disconnected and you have to restart the printer.

This printer keeps going offline for some strange reason, requiring significant intervention to get it back online. Working with HP to figure out the issue.
