This printer is pretty difficult to pair with your computer. I'm pretty computer savvy, and it took me a while. It couldn't find wifi, then when it does, it doesn't hold onto the signal. Only reason I gave it two stars is because I bought it on super sale.

      Hey there,

I'm really sorry to hear that the printer isn't maintaining a steady connection to your network. I can certainly imagine how inconvenient this has been, so let's try one or two more things to remedy this.

First, I'd recommend taking the recommended steps in this 'Offline Printer' document:
      - Windows: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04249080
      - Mac: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04249334

As a supplement to that, this link will guide you through solutions for a wide range of other wireless issues: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05368548

If this falls short, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for support. We would be more than happy to work with you on resolving this. You can get in touch via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

This is the 2nd unutni have owned ans is the last time I purchase it. The first one was very unreliable when connecting to the wireless Wi-Fi. It was about 5 years old so I decided to buy another one( because I still had unused ink cartridges that I didn't want to waste) well after having a bramd new one for two months. It's got the same problem. I'm returning it and hope to get a refund.

    Constantly Clogged Printer Heads

After about a month of occasional printing, and signing up for cartridge refill service, the ink continued to clog. I would have to print at least 2 cleaning cycles to get just 1 page to print right. Then, it would clog again. I went through almost all the ink in 3 months just cleaning the cartridges to get a clear print. WARNING: Printer page problems go against HP Instant Ink charges. Additionally, You have to swap out paper for photo paper - there's no manual feed or additional try. I had a Canon Pixma that had duplex-print, duplex-scan, legal paper support, lasted 6 years, web print (who really uses that feature I don't know) and only a few times had printer quality problems.

      Hi there,

It's so upsetting to hear that you've had a less than reliable experience with the printer over the last month. Printing consistently certainly shouldn't require multiple cleaning sessions, so I'm very sorry that you've had to spend time and ink doing so. I want to make sure that we get this resolved for you, so let's see how I can help.

One resource you might want to check out (if you haven't already) is this print quality document: support.hp.com/document/c05076934

Following that, you might find it helpful to run through this document on ink cartridge issues: support.hp/com/us-en/document/c05058867

If that doesn't provide any fixes, please don't hesitate to contact us for support. We'd be more than happy to help, so you can give us a call at +1 800-474-6836 between the hours of 8 am - 9 pm ET. To expedite the process a bit, you can gather these beforehand:
      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Your case number (from prior contact with support)

We look forward to making this right.

Got this HP printer when I was in a rush to finish printing conference material. My other HP gave out. This one, HP Office Jet Pro 6978, is not as easy to use as my last one. If I hadn't needed a printer so desperately I'd have take time to look at a lot more printers.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has not completed the process of setup and connection. I want to help you get the printer installed and working properly, so I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will reach that end.

Don’t buy this!!! This is a piece of garbage. I ordered this and when I went to set it up the thing wouldn’t turn on. So I returned it and got a second one. The second one doesn’t feed the paper through from the tray! 2 faulty products in a row!!! Unbelievable! I’ve never been so frustrated with a printer. Looks like HP makes useless products. Spend your money somewhere else! And don’t expect any support from Best Buy, they couldn’t care less. Shameful.

I had an original and 2 replacements, and all of them stopped printing after the "sample inks" ran out. Spent over $200 on ink that I could not use, because once installed, the printed pages came out blank. A half dozen calls to tech services got me nowhere, always with the insistence that I was doing something wrong, that I needed to buy new ink, and ending with a $25 credit and "Sorry, we can't do anything else." Wish I had my old Photo Smart 7760 back. Now shopping for another brand.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry that your printer has performed so unreliably. It’s easy to understand why you’d be frustrated and disappointed, considering the device has displayed frequent error messages that require you to cancel print jobs and reset the printer. I want to help you out of this dilemma. I hope the resources below will lead you to that end.

First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including wireless connectivity, which might play a role here. If not, on the same page, you’ll find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common printing and scanning difficulties. You can find that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

For more help with difficulties, you can access troubleshooting guides, how-to documents, user manuals and software updates here:

Printer worked fine for a month and a half. Then one day, it says it can't connect to my network and shows a weird error message. Nothing changed on our end. Husband went through all kinds of trouble shooting. HP blamed everything on our ISP, but couldn't explain why there were no issues beforehand. Also said that we were using it out of scope, since we use it for printing for our small business. If it can't handle the little we use it, then why is "Professional" in the title? HP couldn't answer that one when we asked.

      Hey there,

I'm so sorry that the printer hasn't been maintaining a steady connection to your network! It's also disappointing to hear that you weren't able to fully address this with support. I want to assure you that it's always our intention to provide much more quality in both regards, so I regret that we fell short here. Going forward, I'd love to help make this right.

I do have a couple of recommendations for resolving this connectivity issue. First, this 'Offline Printer' troubleshooter can be used to tend to frequent connection inconsistencies:
      - Windows: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04249080
      - Mac: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04249334

Following that, this link will help guide you through solutions to a wide range of other wireless issues: hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=Printer_Does_Not_Maintain_Wireless_Connection.net

If this hasn't helped, I do want to let you know that HP printers generally come with a 1-year warranty from their date of purchase. I hope that you'll make use of it if you need to. You can verify the status of your warranty here: support.hp.com/checkwarranty

Once you've verified that your warranty is active, you can try contacting support again to arrange for a potential replacement. We'd be grateful for an opportunity to rectify this for you, so please don't hesitate to contact us for support again.
