Posted .Hello,
I'm sorry that you are not pleased with the printer so far. However, I'm hoping that we can make some adjustments to make it work better for you.
We recommend using Colorlok photo paper since it is designed to work well with our inks. It might help this problem, and there are steps in this on-line document that should help you get better print quality in general: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05067448
For any further concerns, you can contact HP Support at: hp.com/contacthp

Broke down in less than 3 months
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A fabulous printer initially, but after only moderate use at best, it broke down after less than 3 months. Surely HP can do better than this.

Gotta Love this HP Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My trusty 8-year-old-HP Printer died and surely went to heaven, because it was truly dependable and was a real workhorse at printing and scanning. It was the perfect size, not too big and not too small (said Goldilocks). I wanted to replace it with a HP that was approximately the same size--I didn't want one either with a huge footprint or a high profile. The 6978 fit the bill. Like its larger cousins, it scans 50 pages at a time, can hold 200 sheets of paper in the paper tray, and produces great black-and-white as well as color prints. It may be a bit slower in printing than the bigger guys, but I won't be printing in huge volume, and anyway, I can be patient for the minute or so extra the 6978 might take. First, it is lightweight but substantial enough. I am a senior citizen and had no trouble carrying it to my car (although the Best Buy people offered). I think it weighs about 35 pounds. And, oh, the price--I got it on sale *and* I took my old HP in for recycling and was given a coupon for an extra 15% off! I love a good bargain. I am not very tech savvy, but the unboxing went quickly, and, using the HP website a little but mainly relying on the prompts on the printer screen (which I love), I was able to get a successful Wifi connection in about 5 minutes. Totally a breeze. The screen is designed well, easy to use, and covers everything you need. Initially I wanted to scan some items to email and that was very easy to set up as well. I have a laptop as well as my "Big Mac" and it was easy to add the printer to my laptop. Today I scanned documents to a flash drive via the handy USB port which is located on the front of the printer. A walk in the park. Perfect, perfect, perfect for small business, home, or school use. I love my HP! Respectfully submitted

Does everything I need, and more
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this machine! Wanted a wireless printer, and decided an all-in-one would be great. Cool features include printing anything off of my mobile device, sending documents to the print queue via email (which is helpful when working on my corporate laptop from home), and of course the FAX and scanner. VERY easy to set-up. Only drawback so far is that the ink is costly, but that's to be expected - and HP offers a subscription service for ink replacement that could save a few bucks. I would recommend this product!

Posted .Hi Phril,
I am sorry that you have to adjust the printer settings a lot. Perhaps we can make this better.
You didn't provide too many details, but often a firmware upgrade and downloading the full-featured software from HP.com can cure a lot of printer ills. Those downloads can be found at: support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/model/11161264
If those steps don't improve the performance of your printer, you can reach us through the resources listed at: hp.com/contactHP
