I have only used hp printers for as long as I can remember and have never been disappointed. This one was very surprising, it was so easy to set up, and the printing is as most hp's clear and crisp.

Although the print quality is decent, operationally, the 6978 is the most frustrating printer I've ever owned. Due to the maintenance delays and interruptions, I have resorted to scheduling time on my calendar ahead of time to print. To make sure that a simple print job won't make me late for a meeting or other commitment. The printer is constantly running maintenance routines that can take up to 5 minutes. I've had the printer since 2019 and its still printing, but only if you have the time to wait, or visit your Happy Place while napping.

This printer is great. The quality is great and it’s easy to use. I love the fact it has a tray where you place the printer paper in. Overall happy with this purchase.

Purchased printer in 2017 used very modestly! Today it’s on its last leg 5yrs .Worked very well up til now ! I’d get it again or upgraded model.

This is a fantastic all-in-one printer! It is very easy to use and does everything I need - print, fax and scan. The print quality is great and the price is very reasonable.

Hp printers are easy to set up and this printer has proven its reliability. It works great and now I can easily scan documents to email. I highly recommend it for home offices.

Easy setup and use. HP is a pain with their instant ink push. Ink supply marginal. Overall good product for price.

Purchased this model after researching several others. So far so good. Gives great copy and does a nice job on photos. Cost more than I wanted, but less expensive models' reviews were not as good.

This printer lasted 3 years. I bought this model again because I had some ink for it already. Well now the printer is broken and I don’t think it’s something that can easily be fixed.

My HP OfficeJet Pro 6835 went on the fritz after 4 years. Bought this HP OfficeJet 6978 to replace. Easy, intuitive setup--essentially plug-and-play. It found my home network, and the HP software download allowed me to "replace" my old printer on the HP Instant Ink plan. Printer is fast, print quality is high, and the price was very good, especially in that Best Buy gave me 15% off the price of the new HP printer for bringing in my old HP printer to recycle. Also, the price for BestBuy's 2 year Geek Squad "fix or replace" plan was just $9.99, 5$ a year, about a penny a day. I highly recommend the BestBuy "fix or replace" plan at this price!

I don't know about the other 5 star reviews, but as far as we're concerned, this printer is GARBAGE. Everything worked just dandy for about 2 months while I enrolled for "Instant Ink" to get ink cartridges automatically delivered in the mail for $5 a month. And then the black cartridges stopped working. I tried everything I could per their support instructions to no avail. Then I did a support call that lasted a SOLID HOUR where they made me do the same things over and over without offering a replacement *anything* (cartridge, printer, etc.) ONLY to find out that the InstantInk/black cartridges are handled by a different department and that I had to contact *them* instead. I gave up at that point and continued to use the printer -- the black cartridge would work only after I cleaned the printer head THREE times after each printing session (a "session" I found lasted about a few hours). I ended up not inclined to spend ANOTHER hour with offshore customer support and dealing with it until it started creating stresses that are affecting my family. Pros: Good when it works, wireless support is decent and worked flawlessly with iPhone/Android printing Cons: Only worked 2 months for me; Black cartridges stop working requiring incessant head cleaning and wasted paper; InstantInk cartridges are different than regular ones; support is horrible

I have had this printer for years. I never ad an issue until this week. The dreaded ox6100004a error code paper jam turned off incorrectly. No paper jam have it on auto on auto off. It seems its a hardware issue I ordered another I love the printer never jammed on me which is always the issue with printers. I have a stockpile of cartridges so am not wasting them. Got a warranty this time though LOL

I am so happy with this printer, it does it all! Little to no maintenance is really needed. Super easy to replace the ink cartridges.

Good printer, easy set up -- good color, scan time good!

Excellent quality and excellent print quality and ease of use.

The day after receiving this printer as a gift, l needed to send a Fax. It was easy and fast. The pages printed beautifully. The setup took less than 1/2 hour to install once the landline was connected properly. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because the buttons and screen are too small for my taste, but the functionality is great.

As a longtime HP Printer fan and Owner, the time came for me to replace my previous PhotoSmart All In One with this 6978 Model. Believing that since I owned the HP before, setup would be a snap - I couldnt have been more wrong!!! (And yes I am very IT Literate!) Getting this printer connected, able to Print, Scan, and overall function took me at LEAST 3 hours!! And I had even consulted with the HP Website to troubleshoot and use their FAQ section to see if I was doing anything wrong. Software wouldn't load, error msgs galore, and when I finally got it to work it sounded like Gears of War inside whenever I tasked it with a job! Noisiest thing I EVER heard! All of this to remain with a brand name I had before! The BB Rep told me that HP was better than the other All In One models from Canon, Epson, and even one I never heard of (Who won Best New Printer) called Brother! - So shame on ME, not the Rep. I REALLY wanted to like this 6978 but just cannot bring myself to!
