    Does the job

I purchased this printer to replace my old HP photosmart all in one printer. It does the job I need it too. Duplex scanning and printing. What I don't like is that when you scan using the automatic feeder, you cannot go higher than 300 on the resolution. In order for you to go higher, you have to use the flatbed scanner, which defeats the purpose of using the feeder when scanning large files. What I would like to know is WHY???? it is so hard to find the ink (902). Walmart, BJ's and others do not carry the 902. Bestbuy only carries the black, yellow and blue. Not the magenta. Only if you by the multi-pack which is the regular size cartridges, not the XL. I want the XL.

    Defective Product

Purchased a month ago and found out that the automatic feeder is defective. Verticle lines running throughout scanned and copied documents. HP stated they would replace it, however, they replaced it with a refurbished printer. Would have been easier to just take it back to Best Buy and exchange it for a new one. Huge hassle with HP. Transferred back and forth between "Instant Ink" and technical support five times until finally got a supervisor. HP Support is not what it used to be...always bought HP's because of the support but customer service is not what it once was 5-10 years ago. Hopefully, the replacement will work fine and this will just be a bad dream. Forget the hassle, purchase the store warranty, and take it back for an exchange...would have been easier. It is a good printer other than the fact that it was defective...lol..

    A new printer

My 7-year-old HP Officejet 6500A’s Wi-Fi connection became less and less reliable so I bought a replacement HP Officejet Pro 6978. Unpacking and cartridge setup are quite easy. Instead of going to website “123.hp.com/setup”, for some reason I visited “123.hp.com/setup 6978”. A “technician” started chatting with me and helping to install software on my laptop. After several minutes, I am told the installation failed requiring further investigation. Then he said this laptop has an “internal connection issue” causing installing problem. But the good news is it can be “fixed” by expert with a one-time service charge. I cannot believe what I heard since my laptop is less than one-year old and this printer is new. Software installation shouldn’t be this hard. I figured something isn’t right so I terminated the chat. My advice is to avoid this website “123.hp.com/setup 6978”. It does not appear to a HP site. I found the printer’s Wi-Fi can be manually turned on via a setting change. Using laptop’s Windows 10 Setting / Printers & Scanners I located this printer as HP Officejet Pro 6970. Then I removed the old printer 6500A so it won’t show up as printer option. After printed several pages and scanned document, I am happy with the purchase. Printing document in smartphone also works. Only complaint I have is those cartridges are for setup only containing less ink than normal and its black cartridge is 1/3 the normal size.

    Buyer Beware.

The printer is great but their "cartridge subscription" is problematic. I didn't want the subscription, so they actually disabled my cartridge inside my printer so that I couldn't use it. That is a massive overstep for a corporation to do. They basically hold your printer hostage until you pay. I couldn't do important work as a result, and their interface kept saying there were errors that it couldn't resolve.

Easy and fast set-up, and printer works great. Just wish HP didn’t change the model of ink cartridges every time the company introduces a new printer. I now have a supply of cartridges from my HP 6700 Inkjet that won’t work with this printer.

HP OfficeJet 6978 all in one

I really like the HP OfficeJet 6978 I had purchased the envy and it printed very very slowly. The OfficeJet prints quickly but it does take a minute or so to start when in standby mode.

I never own a printer before but this printer works wonderful and it makes my life easier. I never knew that printing pictures will be so much fun. Now I don’t have to go anywhere to do it. It was so easy to set it up too, I just love it.

A little tricky to set up but works very well. The setup instructions are not clear. It would be very easy if the instructions were better. Very quiet. Good quality print. Replaced an8620 that the print head died. This was less than a new print head.

It works great after upgrading the firmware

I had a problem that it couldn't find the printer while trying to update it. So I went to "Connect printer to web" 10 minutes later everything works great. I bought this to replace another HP only because this one has a ADF. It work great with my Android and I didn't have to do any setup since it was already set up from my other printer and found the printer automatically.

    Excellent printer.

We purchased this printer due to its compact size, its functionality (it includes a fax function), and its duplex scan capabilities (doc feeder automatically scans both sides of a 2-sided document). Set up was a breeze on a Mac environment/network. Very happy with the printer, especially for the sale price of $99.

Very reliable. This was to replace the one we had. It lasted several years and having looked at newer models, it seemed more sturdy. Plus I know this one will handle light card stock.

Just out of Warranty go figure, for about the last year been having trouble with blue not wanting to print all the way cleaned till Blue in the face replaced all the cartages no luck, printed thousands moved to mostly Black because of? Thinking Epson ink tanks? I did do the HP monthly ink to worked good if the printer would last I have had several over the last 20years.

    HP printer doesn't age well.

Pros and cons on this printer. Have had it for 3+ years and its printing has been solid. Unfortunately, will no longer take multiple page scans (jams) and the color tone has been off for over 2 years. Software, particularly for scanning, at times complex. HP's ink program poor, I tend to get ink I don't need (and not what I do), each month. Would not purchase HP printer again.

Good Printer - but computer connectivity issues!

    Posted .

So far so good. I would have given this printer a 5 except I had the darndest time trying to connect it to my computer. The wrong model number kept being found. It turns out, I had to use it instead of the actual model Number. I had to do it about 15x - no exaggeration - I hope this glitch gets fixed. I can't even tell you the steps I followed to correct the issue, but it wasn't the steps I was given. When all else failed, I thought I would need a USB cord to connect manually, but the wireless connection finally worked. Overall, though, I like the printer. The color is crisp and really good.

After 7 years of good use of our previous HP printer we needed to replace it. The research paid off because I found another HP printer that met the criteria of Quality, performance, and value. It was a breeze to set up. It is quiet, smooth, and superb print quality.

    Always having issues

I originally bought a laser printer that was over $400 and absolutely terrible (seems I may have had a defective one so Best Buy did take it in as a return). I decided to purchase the HP Office jet instead. The print quality is OK, not the best but fine for the price. I love the HP instant ink program. I love that this is wireless and an all in one printer. However...I am constantly having issues with it! Each time I have to call HP it is literally a 2 or 3 hour phone call to get it fixed and always only temporarily fixes the issue. My main issue is with the scanner. Sometimes it just doesn't connect to my computer. I run my own business, have to scan a lot of stuff to my computer and just don't have time to fiddle with this every few weeks when it decides to stop working. The other issue I regularly have is with the scanning tray. Constantly getting jammed for no reason! Ruins documents all the time. Luckily, the price on this was reasonable so I guess you get what you pay for, really wouldn't recommend though.

    piece of junk

Worked great for about 1 year. Then it got the false paper jam error. Through research on the web I got that cleared up. When cyan color ran out I put in a new HP cartridge. Cyan print was lousy so I did print head cleaning. Still streaky so I did the super printhead cleaning and ever since I've had problems with the print cleaning not shutting off. I tried all the stuff online. Finally I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it. That worked ok so I bought more ink. I went on vacation for a week and shut off the printer for a week. Got home, restarted the printer. It cleans the printheads, pulls in paper and jams it. I take out the paper, it starts cleaning the print heads and jams the paper. This goes on on a continuous cycle. The only way to stop it is to unplug the printer from the printer and the wall. Let it sit one hour, plug it back in same problem. I know it's some kind of software problem but it doesn't seem to be fixable and I'm not willing to spend another penny on ink because now the ink is low again. I'm dumping this one but it seems like such a waste because when it works, it's a great printer.

The printer has a 4 ink cartridge system. You will be able to print pictures with this printer. This connects via USB and works with the following Apple Operating Systems: Apple Mac OS X 10.9, and Apple Mac OS X 10.10
