Piece of crap; from a long time HP user

I have had Hp printers and computers for the past 20 years. This is the first that has really not delivered on the promise. I bought this unit to replace an older 8720. Big mistake. From the start, there is something wrong with the wifi-connector. I need to re-install the printer onto my computer almost every day. You may argue that it is my operating system, or a roving IP, but all of the other devices in my home (2 Macs, 3 Pc's) all have the same issue. I have had this unit for just a few months and now the paper jams continually. I get one out of every five pages printed before getting a paper jam error. It is just out of warranty so I am stuck buying a new printer. To finish this review, I can compare this unit to the earlier 8720. The biggest issue beyond connectivity and jamming is that there is no way to remove the paper tray. You can pull it out partially, but barely enough to load the paper. If you inadvertantly push it back in, the unit will go through its loading cycle. Whenver you try to use the unit it goes through a two minute maintence cycle; which also happens after every jam. Basically it takes every thirty second print job and turns it into a fifteen minute ordeal. Hp has a lot of great products and I still like their printers, JUST NOT THIS ONE.

      Hey Brian,

I'm so sorry about these paper jam and wireless issues! I can fully understand how inconvenient these have been, especially with how consistent they are. We always hold ourselves to a high standard of quality with our printers, so I really regret that we fell short this time.To avoid any further complications, I'd like to make sure that this gets resolved, so let's see if this helps.

First, something to be said about paper jams is that they can sometimes be false. This means you'll receive a paper jam error, regardless of if there is an actual jam. As it sounds like this is the case, the following document should resolve those errors: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00441807

Then, this troubleshooter will guide you through some solutions to a wide variety of wireless issues that may be affecting your printer: hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=Printer_Does_Not_Maintain_Wireless_Connection.net

For any other questions or concerns, please remember that you can also reach out to us for support. We're always here to help, so you can get in touch anytime via this link: hp.com/contactHP

      I hope this helps!

I am falling in love with the printer. I have that it has double siding, which is great for me when I am printing a booklet type of pdf, and I like that it is like an office in your home. Then only reason I am taking away the star is because the coloring is not coming out like its suppose to be. If there is yellow in the picture or text, it comes out completely different. Now I have to find out how to correct this because I start printing more stuff!! I want the item to come out like its suppose to

    Terrible Customer Support

I bought this printer about a month ago and it worked fine for a while. The print speed and doc feeder are a bit slow and the UI isn't great, but once it's up and running it's convenient to wirelessly print things. Before this week I would've given it 3 stars for being functional and convenient to use. Then it stopped working. Turning it on I'd get various different things on the screen but it would be unresponsive to anything. The printer was basically a brick with a light on it. I got onto HP support site to chat with a support rep, and the first one took 30 minutes just to get basic info, but because he was clueless on how to fix it, decided to transfer me to a different rep. 15 minutes with that rep to find out she didn't support printers and transferred me again. That rep took 1 hour to tell me to try and change my printer driver. When that didn't work they finally agreed to send me a warranty replacement. 2 hours in total with service reps that didn't know a thing. I gave up on HP laptops years ago due to crap quality control, but their printers worked okay for me in the past. But unless the new unit works flawlessly for years I'm done buying anything from HP.

Just bought this printer. I was a little disappointed even before I made the purchase. Purchased it anyway and here is why I was disappointed: The following sentence comes direct from the list of specifications: "Built-in memory card slots and USB 2.0 let you simply plug in your memory card, USB drive, camera or other device and print." There is no memory card slots. Everything else looks good. But the slots would be a big help.

Good feature set. Liked that it had ethernet port and the duplex printing. But it finally failed and it was not clear why but HP doesn't support you when its out of warranty.
