Worst printer I have ever owned.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am returning my second HP 6978 in less than 6 weeks. The printer cannot come close to printing the correct colors in a photo. The first printer quit printing blue (Cyan) after only a few weeks even after replacing the print cartridge. The second printer just printed terrible color period. Very disappointed in this HP printer.

Won't Print Blue after 1 year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Warranty is only 1 year. The printer will not print blue, so everything comes out pink! Even though it doesn't print blue, it appears to deplete the blue ink. Only 1.5 years old. Also, I print a lot and it ends up costing A LOT to replace the ink. I have spent more on the ink in little over a year than I have on the printer itself.

Don't buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a piece of junk. The first time I put in a new HP cartridge, which it said was the correct one, the printing became illegible.

Posted .Hi there.
I’m sorry that your printer began to render prints of poor quality after you installed a genuine HP replacement cartridge. I can wholly understand why this would be a disconcerting surprise. I want to help you remedy this problem, so I’ll suggest some resources aimed at making that happen.
First, if you’ve not done so already, I recommend following the steps listed in a guide on our support site to improving print quality, including faded or streaked prints, color or black ink not printing properly or at all, and blurred or fuzzy text. Find that guide here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05076934
If the print-quality problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

THINK TWICE !!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had nothing but issues with this printer. It will not stay online and there are no options for black/white only printing. it uses all 4 inks to print in black and white. Inks run out fast. HP customer supports no help. I regret this purchase.

Posted .Hi Emily,
I'm sorry that you feel that way. However, I'm hoping that we can make this better for you.
There is a print setting, Print in Grayscale, that tells the printer to only print in black and white. Using that setting to preserve your color inks, and printing in draft mode can reduce your ink usage.
Turning the printer off (always using the power button on the printer itself) can also help. While it is on, the printer will periodically clear the nozzles to keep them from clogging. Turning it off with the power button will 'park' it so that the nozzles are protected from drying out and clogging.

Lousy for printing checks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you use Quickbooks and plan on printing checks, you may want to know that you cannot print single checks. You can print one or two okay from your three on a page checks, but if there is one left over on your sheet, this printer won't accept a sheet that small.

broken after 1 year and 3 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printer is no longer operational after 1 year and 3 days. Paper jams in the paper feed every time. 1 year was the warranty mark so HP will do nothing to fix it, this after 4 days of runaround with their technical support.

I have called HP 2 times in 15 months to replace
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first printer broke down within 3 months. The new replacement was received almost 1 year ago and the same error is occurring. A printer should last longer than 1 year!
