Primarily used by one person in our office for paycheck printing (10-15 checks per week) and various accounting report printing (not more than 150 sheets per month). After a year and a half the wireless capability stopped working just on this machine and now multiple sheets of paper get grabbed randomly. So now it's useless for paycheck printing. Apparently there are parts that can be replaced but not for much less than a new printer. It kills me to dump it but don't know if it's worth spending money on either.

I've had this printer over 3 years or so I'd say. It prints fast, double sided which I think is SO convenient. Holds a lot of paper. Now why I hate it: if it runs out of any of the four ink colors, it will not print. This happens at crucial moments when you really need to print something. The biggest frustration: it doesn't actually tell you that it isn't going to print, nor does it say why. Sometimes it shows a light over one of the ink cartridges. Right now it constantly has lights over the black and yellow, even thought they are both relatively new cartridges. When the lights blink, it will not print. Just right now it was blinking for a cartridge that I took out and could tell was obviously not empty when I shook it. I replaced it two times and now it will print, I think. I really never know. Also the cartridges have a computer chip that tells the printer to prohibit using them after a certain date. These means that refills won't work in the long run. In terms of wireless, half of the time we are getting errors and printing gets cancelled. You often have to reboot the router. Also frequently it will go through all these noises and movements for like 5 minutes while you sit there wondering what's going on. Today it started jamming papers, but I haven't ever had that problem until now.

The wired to a network configuration worked well for a year, then paper feed became erratic, eventually not picking up paper at all. HP's online chat is excellent. And for a reasonable fee I was sent a replacement printer. But that too has paper feed problems, right from day one, though they are different.

I got this on a 1/2 price sale and the speed is great. Quality is very good in text (as good as the laser at work) and I have done some 8x10 photos that are very nice looking - at least as good as the old hp photo printer I had. I love the amount of paper it holds but wish it wasn't quite so large. It is still smaller than the all-in-ones and I didn't need the copy/scanner anyway. Glad to get a good printer at a very nice price. Ink is a bit high but is supposed to last for 1200 pages. I was going to get a 2nd for work but the sale was off so I'm waiting.
