Great Entry Level PC with lots of Potential
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4 stars out of the box 5 stars once you spend some time upgrading it. I was able to get a great discount on this PC from Best Buy and it caught my eye for its RTX 5060 essentially one of the main appeals of this PC but the AMD core and DDR5 RAM are also not worth overlooking. Out of the box the PC was able to handle most modern games with relative ease with VSYNC on games would hit a consistent 120 FPS the GPU is capable of getting up to 400+ FPS but the performance is very unrefined and either everything looks choppy or like a potato so getting a consistent, smooth 120 FPS is great to see. The main areas this PC is lacking in is storage (yes 1 TB is plenty for most but if you want to store photos / videos and don't want to clutter your OS drive an extra drive is a great upgrade) and RAM. The 1 DDR5 RAM stick is definitely capable of being used for most games and applications but I definitely noticed some performance issues in games and on the PC with the memory being pushed to near its limit. I saw a number of reviews with 2 sticks of RAM on this computer which it's important to know that this comes stock with just 1 and even though it says 6000 megahertz the system runs it at 5200 unless you overclock your system. My local Best Buy had their display model with two sticks of RAM which also added to the confusion and unfortunately you can only order the exact RAM from the seller but the seller was very quick. I was able to upgrade both the storage and RAM and upgrading this computer is incredibly simple for adding an internal drive the SATA and power cables are already there where you need to install the hard drive and the motherboard shows where to install the RAM. Ever since making those upgrades the computer has been absolutely incredible which is why I believe this is a great entry level PC - capable of running most games at a consistent 120 FPS but also capable of being upgraded for better performance.

Omen35L
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using this product for some time now, primarily for office work, and it has been excellent. I’ve installed various programs that support my construction business, and it handles them smoothly. I also use it for Zoom meetings and to view large files and blueprints without any issues. Occasionally, I do some PC gaming, and it performs very well in that area too. I really appreciate how easy it is to customize to my preferences. Overall, I’ve had no problems with it, and I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

Excellent mid-range gaming PC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop with an AMD Ryzen 5 8400F CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 GPU, and 16GB DDR5 memory is a solid mid-range choice for gamers looking for performance and style. The tower features a sleek design with a see-through glass side panel and a sturdy build. It is a clean build on the inside too with wiring cleanly laid down. Front-access USB-C and USB-A ports make connectivity easy and convenient. Performance-wise, it handles most games well. In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, I saw frame rates around 70–80 FPS on medium settings without upscaling. This desktop isn’t going to allow you to play the newest AAA games at 4K/ray tracing settings with acceptable frame rates, but that is to be expected at this spec range especially considering the GPU only has 8 GB of RAM. However, I encountered frequent freezes during gameplay in COD, likely due to ongoing Nvidia driver issues with 50 series cards. Switching from the Game Ready to the Studio driver helped reduce crashes, but occasional freezes still occurred. Interestingly, I experienced no such issues while playing the new Oblivion remaster, which ran smoothly. Game developers probably are still tweaking their games for optimum performance with the new 50 series graphics cards so hopefully these bugs go away soon. The included keyboard and mouse are nothing special, good starter kits but most gamers are going to be using their own specialized keyboards and mice anyways. Not a concern to me as I game with a controller. Overall, this is a capable system for its price range, especially for gamers who don’t mind tweaking drivers. Just be aware of the current stability quirks most likely due to the newer Nvidia GPUs.

I love the visuals this case offer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aesthetically speaking I love this form factor for a desktop. The LED lights on the fans and RAM compliment the stark white color of the case and the support brackets, which pair nicely with the black motherboard. This is the first partial glass case desktop computer I’ve owned having never cared much for showing off the inside of a computer, but my use case for this desktop means the computer will be visible to anyone walking into the room so I wanted something more attractive than a standard desktop. The fans are quiet and if the rainbow of color from the LEDs were not pulsing a visual reminder that this thing was powered on I would barely notice. It’s possible to disable the LEDs or change the pattern if you don’t want the light show. With the smaller motherboard, expansion/upgrade options are limited and the motherboard has what I would consider some compromises. First there is a single PCIe slot available for additional add-on cards. I used the slot to add a 10GB ethernet NIC. This is because the second compromise is that the built-in NIC is 1GB. A third compromise is that the Wifi adapter is Wifi 6. Is it really too much to expect that gaming computers ship standard with 2.5GB NICs and Wifi 7? The motherboard includes two SSD slots for system storage. This system shipped with one of the slots using a 1TB SSD. I immediately added a second 1TB SSD to the second slot which is inconveniently located directly beneath the graphics card. The locking mechanism used by the Nvidia graphics card is clearly meant to snap into place and never be touched again as the plastic latch was so tight I thought I was going to snap it off when trying to remove the GPU to get to the SSD slot. There is not enough spacing between the second SSD slot and the graphics card for the SSD to have a heatsink so pay attention to this detail if you plan on using the second slot. The first slot does not suffer from this same issue. HP includes cabling for adding an additional hard drive to a slot they built into the corner of the case on the opposite end of the 500W power supply. To keep things visually clean all the wiring is run on the back side of the motherboard to keep it hidden from display. The wires are accessible by removing the non-glass side panel of the case. I’ve included a photo in the review. HP ships the Velcro straps and the plastic cable ties tightly bound when it’s shipped and they have to be loosened in order to get the hard drive cable to reach to slot. I added a second hard drive to this slot bringing me up to three 1TB hard drives. The final set of compromises comes in the form of the GPU and CPU combination. HP is advertising this specific build as a mid-tier gaming rig so I did not have high expectations for performance compared to what’s possible with better graphics cards and CPUs on the market. This system lived up to my lowered expectations. It ships with AMD’s mid level CPU, the Risen 5 8400F and the Nvidia RTX 5060. Neither of these components are scoring favorably in benchmarks with some online reviews roasting Nvidia for releasing a desktop GPU that performs worse than the previous generation laptop GPUs. I have a laptop with the RTX 4080 and a second laptop with the RTX 5060 and can confirm that gaming is far smoother in every way on the RTX 4080 laptop than it is on either the laptop or desktop versions of the RTX 5060 devices. The RTX 50xx series is running Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture which might benefit newer games going forward, but the base RTX 5060 only has 8GB of GDDR7 memory. The TI edition ships with 16GB. One of the first games I tried playing on this is Microsoft’s Xbox game Forza Horizon 5 and within a few minutes of game play the game flashed a dialog box that the system was running low on video memory and the game began to stutter. Thus I find myself loving and not-really liking this system at the same time. Visually it looks great and it is working fantastic for the specific gaming use case I have for it, but this is not a system I would recommend as a primary, single purpose gaming computer. HP offers other Omen system configurations that I would pick instead, opting for an HP Omen that includes an upgraded CPU and GPU combination.

Beautiful, powerful, sleek all in one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok this review is for the OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop GT16-0314 This thing is a powerhouse packed with goodies. It’s running the AMD Ryzen 8400F processor with Kingston Fury 16 GB DDR5-6000 with a heatsink. A 1TB SSD, Wi-Fi 6 card with Bluetooth. And to help keep your screen running smooth it has a NVIDI GeForce RTX 5060 video card with 8 GB GDDR7 dedicated memory. But even with all this power they just give you a standard white keyboard and mouse. So I would recommend upgrading both of these. But they do work if need be. And this thing just looks sweet. You won’t want to hide this beauty under a desk. This is the kind of tower you put on top of your desk to display for all to see. It has fully customizable lights that you can set up many different ways for your liking. Has fans in front and back of unit to keep air moving and prevent it from overheating. Came preloaded with windows 11 home edition. So should be very familiar for most to set up. Even if this is your first windows PC it walks you through very step. I’ve been playing COD lately, so after setting up the free 3 month trial PC game pass I downloaded it and jumped in to action to see what this beast could do. And I was blown away. This thing runs smoother than butter. I was seeing FPS (frames per second) from 120 to 300 during game play, by far the best machine I have ever owned. This unit can do it all play, work, video editing. You name it, it can do it.

Gorgeous and Full of Power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a pre-built desktop PC for gaming that is beautiful, customizable, and full of power, this is a terrific option. I've spent the past week playing around with some of my favorite classic and newer games and have had a great time doing so. Pros: - While some people like to build their own gaming rigs, I like to let the pros do it for me. And HP delivers great bang for your buck with this OMEN model. They provide an excellent high-end graphics card (NVIDIA's RTX 5060), a solid state drive, a snappy AMD CPU and 16GB of DDR5 RAM. All of this combined for some incredibly smooth, fast, and gorgeous gaming (including games that demand a lot of resources). It would be a challenge to build a PC on your own with comparable components for less cost. - The tower is absolutely gorgeous. All of the components are installed with great care and anyone with even a little bit of OCD will love how well organized everything is. The LED lighting, by default, will rotate with vibrant colors that provide a wonderful ambiance to the room. - The ventilation in the case design is well thought out. I don't anticipate any issues with overheating as the front and top both allow for air intake while the large fan expels air out the back. - A keyboard and mouse are included. It's nice that they are provided in case you don't have your own, but if you do, it's always a good thing to have extras lying around. - All of the ports on the top and the back of the tower are conveniently located for adding your accessories. - Even if you aren't a gamer and are just looking for a PC that can multitask with ease, edit videos, etc, the OMEN 35L will do the trick. Cons: - While I love the look of the tower, the side window is a little tricky to get back on after taking it off. You have to align things just right which may take a few tries. From navigating Windows, to gaming, to performing everyday computing tasks, this PC can do it all and does it VERY well. I look forward to using it for years to come.
