Customers are saying
Customers are pleased with the sound quality, cooling features, and comfort of the OMEN Mindframe headset. Many also appreciate the bass response and the snug fit. However, some users find the headset to be heavy, and there have been some reports of microphone issues. Overall, the positive feedback on audio quality and comfort outweighs the negative comments regarding weight and microphone performance.

Omen or O'man this is Cool!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was fortunate to be able to test the 7.1 Omen Gamers Headset with the HP - Pavilion Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 5-Series and the HP Omen Midframe is a great addition to this outfit. I have a small head so I sometimes have a headset that moves a bit. This headset is nice and snug and believe it or not very light and very excited to tell you all about the Frost Cap tech this has to keep you gaming comfortable for hours. The 7.1 uses a bi-directional sound matrix that allows you to hear things in front to the sides of you, behind you and as wired as it sounds, you can hear footsteps, planes helicopters all above you. A totally immersive sound system that puts you in the game like never before. The Frost Technology was tested on a 4-hour gaming session and let me tell you I love it. There is literally very little heat transfer from the headset with this technology that directs the heat from the headset away from your head, rats and neck. So very cool!!! Get it!!! I would recommend this to all my gamer friends and family.

They worked good if you want to stream your Xbox
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these because they were in the Xbox one headset. I thought they would be really cool to have. I could not research anything about these or people using them for Xbox. But they only work with Xbox if you stream the Xbox to your pc. Which if you are like me and don’t have a good pc and have a good Xbox.... why stream it. So I am returning them because they do not work with Xbox one without streaming it

Great headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Headset is light weight and fit comfortably. I found the audio quality to be a bit tinny initially. But using the EQ was able to stabilize this out. As with most previous over-the-ear headsets. I was only able to comfortably wear them for short periods(30-45) minutes before I had to reseat or remove to cool off my ears! The built in cooling was awesome. Microphone was good but not high grade. Usable for games but not a conference call. If you are accustomed to hi-fi brands of headphones then you may want to evaluate quality before purchase. Overall I fell these are acceptable headset but catch them on sale.

Very Good Headphones Esp for Gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP - OMEN by HP Mindframe Wired 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound Gaming Headset for Windows 10 - Black/Red The headset is wired and very comfortable. It utilizes a self-adjusting suspension type construction that holds it in place without a lot of force or tightness that can become quite uncomfortable. Not so with the Omen headset. The earphones use a softer, moisture-wicking material, too, that I find quite comfortable. These are not noise-cancelling though so, depending on what volume you’re using, you may hear louder ambient noise nearby. The style is black with red accents and includes RGB red lighting around the Omen emblem on the outside of the earcups and the mic boom end glows red when in the upright/muted position. The Omen Command Center software (Windows only) allows you to use different static colors or allow it to cycle using 6 different colors that you choose or select to let the colors respond to the music. As far as controls on the headset, there is a volume wheel on the back of the right earcup. The Omen Headset offers 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound, which you can enable or disable. It helps you easily know directionally where different sounds are coming from – from the right or left, behind you etc. For gaming, this is great. The Omen Command Center allows you to adjust the lighting, as mentioned above, and adjust for 3 levels of cooling for the earcups, or to turn it off entirely. Yes…cooling of the interior earcups! The metal speaker grills inside each cup transfer heat from inside to the outside electrically. There are no moving parts or fans so no noise. And, it really works! I’ve had many a gaming session using headsets where, over time, my ears became sweaty and uncomfortable. With the Omen headset, everything under the earcups will remain cool and dry. Pretty neat for anyone using headphones especially in the “heat” of battle! Not being an audiophile, I can’t give you a detailed breakdown of the types and variations of sound you will hear other than to say, for me, the sound is clear and full. Conversation through the mic comes through very well over the sounds of the game, if you’re talking with other gamers. Noise-cancelling for the mic can be enabled or disabled. All things considered, the Omen headset offers a lot visually, with sound, and with cooling for your hot little ears! I really like this headset for its comfort and usability.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They do not cool very well and the sides that blow the so called “air” out of the headphones get really hot and the is not air circulation that’s a false statement the only reason I still use it is because it wasn’t cheap!

Very "Cool" Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I love when things come well packaged and in nice packaging. It is a good statement of the quality of the product. This headset is that. Be advised, there are 4 twist ties holding the headset in, so be careful not to just try and yank the headset out of the holder in the box. This headset only seems to function on computers. When plugging it to the computer, it has cool looking LEDs that come on the ears and microphone boom. You must download the OMEN command center to adjust the LED, to which there is a whole color palate that you can adjust your lighting to. Unfortunately the only lighting you can adjust is on the ear pieces.. The microphone lighting will always stay red, but is only red when you have the boom folded upward, into mute mode. It turns off when the mic is active. This headset fits very large head sizes comfortably. It's adjustment is a stretch band in the middle that easily conforms. The first thing you notice when putting on the headset is the coolness of the earplate inside. It has cooling fan tech inside the cups that help keep your ears cool. It is very nice. You can also adjust that in the Omen command center. Unfortunately, the outside of the cups get warm to touch and is not really bothersome but it does get somewhat annoying when taking the headset off. The overall design of the headset is very nice and comfortable though. The sound quality of the headset is pretty good, but unless you have a sound equalizer on your computer, it is a tad underwhelming if listening to music. The sound quality in games though is superb and can hear great surround sounds. I am told the mic quality sounds clean and clear. The volume control on the right ear cup is nice and is not separate of total computer volume. Overall I would highly recommend for computer gaming.

Wow-ish!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, just look at them! They are almost too nice looking to wear/beat up. These have a elegant/sci-fi look to them and will look good sitting on the stand. The cooling blows me away! Siting and gaming for hours has zero effect on heating up these bad boys. You can sit for hours upon hours and they feel just as cool when you put them on. Not col like chilly but just a mild chill that is extremely comfortable. Judging by other 7.1 headsets these aren't the best as far as sound goes, yet not the worst either. The center channel seems a bit tinny and lack of loudness. Although they are decent as well and do a good job depending on what you are used to. I wish the software had more fine tuning options. Be cautious if you have a large cranium like myself. At first they feel way too tight but they do break in over time, as do the speakers. The more time I put into them the better they sound. I would like to give the full five stars but they just don't wow with the sound, just depends where you are coming from or used to I guess.

Not studio quality but fine for gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP – OMEN Mindframe 7.1 Gaming Headset has some cool features, one of them literally so: a feature called FrostCap that uses thermoelectric coolers to cool down the aluminum plate within the ear cups. It's an odd sensation, placing your hands over the outside of the headset, which gets really warm, while inside the cups it is like having very efficient air conditioning. No more sweaty ears with this headset. You can set the cooling level to low, medium, or high, but to do this you have to download the OMEN Command Center app. Not a big deal if you are using only one computer, but for every additional computer you use you'll have to download the app again. The OMEN Command Center app also lets you use the other "cool" feature, which is to adjust the lighting setting on the headset. The default is static red (and that's the color whenever you boot up), but you can choose from a range of static colors, or you can have the headset alternate between colors on a timing schedule or according to the computer's audio. After your computer has booted, the color(s) will change to the setting you chose. I set mine to the same shade of green as the LED lights on my HP Pavillion Gaming Desktop and HP 25X Monitor. Nothing like having the perfect lighting ensemble among computer components. The irony is, unless you have a mirror in the room, you won't see the cool lighting on your headset. Someone else in the room will have to enjoy your color coordination. The OMEN app also has some other features, but only if you have an HP OMEN computer, which I do not. If only I could turn my Pavillion into an OMEN computer by affixing the OMEN sticker that came with the headset to the computer case. So that's it for the programmability of the headset. Far more important than the "cool" features in a headset is the sound quality. Here, I found the Mindframe headset to be merely adequate. It is supposed to be a 7.1 virtual surround-sound headset, but what that means is that you need to enable the Windows Sonic for Headphones Spatial Sound setting in Windows 10. You can do that with any set of headphones. I tried this feature, both with videos that incorporated 7.1 surround sound and with demo/test sites for 7.1 surround sound. Yes, with the combat videos the shooting, explosions, and shouting seemed to come from all over the place; the experience was immersive and the sound quality, okay. But I tried the same videos with normal stereo—and they didn't really sound noticeably different. I confirmed this with the demo/test sites using virtual speakers. I really had to use my imagination to hear the difference between, say, the right front speaker, right side speaker, and right rear speaker. My father, who was a physicist and acoustic engineer, was fond of saying that human beings have two ears, and stereo is fine for spatial location. I think he got that right. I tested the microphone by recording speech and playing it back. It seemed reasonably sensitive and accurate for picking up human speech. In closing if you are the kind of person who doesn't mind spending a little extra for "cool" features, you might like this headset. It is definitely more comfortable than my more expensive wireless SONY headphones, which tend to hurt my ears if I am wearing them for more than an hour. The Mindframe headset doesn't have the advanced noise-cancelling features of my SONY headphones, but it does an excellent job of blocking outside noise without these extra features. The sound fidelity of the headphones and microphone is not studio-quality, but certainly nice enough for gaming, which is the headset's intended purpose.

Great sound and "cool" cooling feature
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a USB computer virtual 7.1 headset. It works very well. It works with Dolby Atmos. The sound in the Atmos app demo videos is amazing. Digital headphones work well with PC and the volume control wheel on these headphones is no exception as it directly controls the volume natively. I was dubious of the cooling feature on a headset, but it really does make a difference after a while of wearing these while playing intense games. Unique and fun headphones that really perform. Mic flips up to mute and turns on red LED on mic tip when it is muted. Simple to use and understand.

Its not just a gimmick, Frostcap tech works!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's easy to try to pass off the "OMEN by HP Mindframe" headphones but don't these are actually a good set of USB 7.1 headphones. I'm going to get a few things out of the way as mentions. First off the Headset does work on PS4 as long as you don't mind wires, I've personally tested with a PS4 PRO. Next up, These sound SUPURB with Dobly Atoms on Windows 10. Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Forza Horizon 4 had surround sound that was out of this world. Now I'll talk about the headphones itself. The presentation from OMEN is insane, A giant box with a window into your gaming sounding bliss. don't get me wrong I normally don't care about boxes and such but it's like a castle. The packaging is killing giving you every detail of that the headset can do. even crazier it's almost like the packaging wanted to even showcase the red USB. The headphones are monstrous but not heavy, they are lightweight enough to feel comfortable. They are well built for long gaming sessions that's for sure. There is a retractable banding to make sure they rest easily upon your head. I can't prise HP enough for making something like this for gamers because the fabric of the cups just feels so good. The cups rest easy on the ears I'm sure for long sessions of Fortnite. Once plugged in the mic and the Red LEDs light up. as others mention, I think one of the coolest features is not the most advertised. Lifting up the mic mutes it and lift down the mic to mouth level turns it back on. You will get used to this motion so easy that it just makes sense for gaming headset mic manufacturers to start this trend even more. Also in the Omen Command Center, you can control LEDs on the outer parts of the cups charging them to a variety of colors as well as set the rainbow, static, and pulse. you know the standard gaming LED controls for patterns. You can just turn them off as well. They not going to tell you this but it also looks great with Razer/CORSAIR led products. I set this up with my HP 25x 24-inch FreeSync 144hz / HP Gaming Pavilion 690-0024 with Ryzen 5 RX580 4gb, with an 8GB gaming rig as part as an overall package. Everything worked perfectly in this setup and the cord is long and durable. This is the perfect setup to have for the holidays if you are getting into PC gaming. They sound amazing with the 7.1, it sounds insane playing battlefield and hearing even the tiniest of rocks hit the ground. Games like Killing Floor 2 allows you to hear every single monster coming in a direction. Tomb Raider allows you to hear birds from a distance, Car engines of Forza 7 all have even a more unique sound...Everything just enhances the senses I've tried these on Fortnite and you can hear the battlegrounds and people shooting each other. but I've haven't had the honor of trying these for horror games like Outlast 2 but that's next on my list. On PS4, I did try these on Red Dead Redemption 2 which was amazing. it doesn't matter what you playing they sound great and at this price point, they are fully worth it. the volume controls feel good to turn up and down when using. they also feel well built. The best feature here is HP's OMEN "Forstcap" technology, This is not a gimmick it actually works in a strange way. It disburses heat from the LED side of the headphones while keeping the inside of the cups cool. It's not like a fan in a way but the temperatures inside of the earcups at a low temp. which cools the ears down. Surprisingly I think this is the breaking tech the gaming headset market needs...It works and well and if anything I'm sure MANY other gaming headset manufacturers are going to copy this in the future. HP won with this tech and I hope to see more of this for using in eSports so people can be as focused as possible. Great for long sessions of gaming if that's the intended use. Trust me its something you have to feel to understand because its more of an experience than something that can be told. Who would I recommend this to? Gamers. easy. These are some of the most interesting and useful headphones on the market today. I've never used anything like this and OMEN clearly showcase they can do a great job innovating. Normally one would suspect the frostcap feature would be a gimmick that's overlooked but they work as advertised and well they are a good set of 7.1 headphones overall. OMEN by HP - Mindframe headset hits all the right notes with good design, user-friendly, durable, LED, and innovative headphones. I can't wait to see what else OMEN has in store.
